      I use the store mix when I’m making Japanese curry, and I add my vegetables (carrots, green bell pepper, onions, potatoes) into that!

    You could also add potatoes, carrots, mushrooms and other veggies to the curry. Love to eat katsu curry with red pickles and chili powder too!

    If you’re only making a small amount you can buy some Japanese curry cubes, that look a bit like a bar of chocolate, they’re very handy to have & a quick search online will find a brand Japanese people use 😁 I’m about to go out for lunch and I’m really fancying this meal now 😂

      @@yunadelaney sorry to hear that, I can get it from Amazon and I’m sure it’s much more expensive that in Japan but it’s not too expensive making it impossible to use. I’m disabled, so it is useful here. I did just have a thought of getting my partner to do this and freeze it in small blocks, portion sized blocks 😁

    It’s so interesting to see Japanese curry being made by non Japanese people.
    It’s an Indian dish that went to Britain and then came to Japan.
    My neighbor Indian/Nepali restaurant has the best curry I ever had.
    But the soup curry I ate in Hokkaido was amazing too!
    Food makes every culture blend and enrich! That’s amazing.

      India is the home of curry and funny thing is most of us Indians(Mostly Hindi speaking people) do not call curries curries we call them sabji like chicken curry as chicken ki sabji or egg curry as ande ki sabji etc

    This and curry udon are my favourites!! 😍 If you have leftover Japanese curry I recommend putting it on top of udon noodles, the texture and taste are so good imo

    Thank you for including the recipe for the curry, normally with Japanese recipes it’s “use ‘Golden Curry’ block”, but those are hard to come by in Denmark, so having the ingredients is super helpful 💕

    Sara, I made this for dinner last night based on this video and WOW!!! My husband doesn’t normally like curry, but he LOVED this. He asked if I made extra so he could take it to work for lunch today 🥰 it was sooo good; the crunchy chicken with the smooth sauce was heaven on earth!       @@Ashley-qx4my this is what SEASONED cooks do, not beginners. If you haven’t got prior experience of what a particular spice or herb does or tastes like, you can easily spoil the dish.

    If you have no energy to make curry from the scratch, using Japanese curry cube will be a great choice!
    A bit of advice from me as Japanese, when you make curry udon with leftover curry, add some water and mentsuyu to make it more soupy and add some dashi flavour😊

      I've tried one variety before, but honestly thought it quite bland. Maybe it's because I'm desi and used to fresh spices, but the premade cube stuff had zero aroma and very little flavour. I'd recommend you just mix up and store a few portions of the needed spices beforehand to use in a rush

      @@raerohan4241 buy japanese curry powder and garam masala. add flour and butter in a hot pot and add the curry and masala. then let it cool and you have your own authentic curry roux. but usually store bought roux are very good. you might have bought from a bad brand. just using normal curry and masala is really bland.

    I can eat japanese curry every single day it's mad. I even made it with breaded tofu and it was good too. That or a fried egg, whatever protein I have around really.

    You can buy Japanese style curry roux blocks at the supermarket in the Asian foods isle. They’re pretty affordable and you just have to mix them with water in a pot and you get a beautiful curry sauce.

      the recipe is on instagram, I had to google search it a bit. Since I don't have instagram I can only copy what it shows, but can't open the rest. What a total pain, will be blocking videos from her, this kind of thing is a waste of time. Here are the ingredients at least. Recipe ⬇️
      Curry:
      2 tbsp oil
      2 small yellow onions (sliced)
      1/4 large Honey crisp apple
      4 tbsp Butter
      4 tbsp Flour
      1.5 tbsp Curry powder
      1 tsp garam masala
      1 Chicken boullion cube
      1” ginger (grated)
      3 garlic cloves
      Add 1-2 tbsp oil if needed to sauce above ingredients
      1 tbsp Soy sauce
      1 tbsp Oyster sauce
      3.5 cups water
      1 tsp Sugar
      1/4 tsp White pepper
      1/4 tsp Black Pepper
      1/2 tsp paprika
      Salt (to taste)
      Chicken Katsu:
      2 Chicken breast
      Salt & pepper
      1 Egg
      1/4 cup Flour
      1/2 cup Panko
      Oil (for frying)
      Garnish:
      Jasmine rice
      Scallions/green onion
      Sesame & black seed

    The biggest issue I have with chicken katsu is that the chicken itself is always super bland. No one ever spices it up to give it more flavor.

      It depends on your tastes. It might become overpowering depending on how many spices you've got in your curry. If you have more in the curry, sometimes less chicken seasonings work. It's all down to personal preference.
      I partially agree with you tbh. I tend to put southern fried chicken with mine, but that's just me.

      It’s bc it’s eaten with the sauce there would be no point in seasoning it bc the sauce is very flavourful and it would over power the chicken

    whenever I think about Apple being added to curry, I think of that One Piece episode with Sanji and that one kid lol I still have yet to try it. Sounds so good, might give this a try!
