      Lu X that’s the point of the quote: no matter the proximity to another, individuality ultimately segregates reality from all others. It is simultaneously a blessing and a burden. Reason is the common ground we use to ensure that the former outweighs the latter.

      “We live together, we act on, and react to, one another; but always and in all circumstances we are by ourselves. The martyrs go hand in hand into the arena; they are crucified alone. Embraced, the lovers desperately try to fuse their insulated ecstasies into a single self-transcendence; in vain. By its very nature every embodied spirit is doomed to suffer and enjoy in solitude. Sensations, feelings, insights, fancies-all these are private and, except through symbols and at second hand, incommunicable. We can pool information about experiences, but never the experiences themselves. From family to nation, every human group is a society of island universes.” - Aldous Huxley

    My cousin made me watch this movie in his house, we were awake until 4 a.m watching this masterpiece, and when the film ended, I felt kinda empty, surprised & confused, so many questions grew in my head that midnight and i loved my cousin so much for showing me this piece of heaven.
    It is my favorite movie now, I think Jake Gyllenhaal was made for it, and this song at the end really made everything more intense (idk how to express this very well in English but I hope it was good written)

    Donnie Darko deftly captures the angst of the teenage boy as he attempts to navigate his path into adulthood. Finding love, standing up for his values, battling depression as well as his bully schoolmates. And then a jet engine falls on his head....This is a classic film that I watch several times a year, always finding something i missed before, moving deeper into the realm of Donnie's darkened soul. Yet he epitomizes truth, compassion, blooming sexuality, understated masculinity. I will forever cherish this movie until a jet engine falls into my own bedroom.

      I heard so much about this movie when it came out but I was too busy with my own life to stop and watch it.
      Years later I saw it was on RUclips and waited a few days before watching. The result was not good. So I waited a while and saw it last year and found confusion again. Now I am going to try again this week and see what time and age makes any better results. I am not a stoner. Most of my friends back then were into alcohol and drugs. A few years later I told them all to F O because they would only drop by to ask a favor or "borrow" money.

I felt hopeless and I remember my mum and dad having this film years ago playing a lot. So while I couldn’t sleep for a week I decided to watch some old films and this was one of them. I can tell you this film has brought me alot of comfort to my life and holds a really special place in my heart. Although it’s a very confusing film it has that feel to it something you can relate. Hopelessness. Thank you Richard kelly for this truly beautiful film.

But Donnie Darko became so intense - and than that ending with this beautiful dark sad song ... we were so stunned and now a few hours later seeing this video I am nearly crying. Jake Gyllenhaal also played my temporally ally turned arch-enemey, Quentin Beck aka Mysterio in my movie Spider-Man: Far From Home. Mysterio make lies and trick the world that he was from an alternative universe who ended going to earth after his illusions known The Elementals detroy his own universe. He wore a protective fishbowl helmet with gas, a cape, and also he use his power with gas and astral projection. In reality, He was from the same universe as mine, He didnt have super power, He was an employee from my mentor Tony Stark's industries, He created illusion by using his invention called B.A.R.F., He was fired by my mentor, Tony Stark because he was too ustable. He deciced to become a fraud hero to dominate the world. He exposed me that I'm Spider-Man on the Time Square TV and make lies about me that I killed him which I did not. Dilruba Ahmed , I’m dead serious! Donald trump is also Marty McFly and his uncle john trump is Doc brown! Donnie darko and back to the future are all apart of the same story/ universe, “our universe” ! The sequel S. Darko is about the universe Donald died in, its about his sister Samantha in the original timeline. Before Donnie had died , his consciousness traveled through a mirror portal through astral projecting to a parallel universe where his parallel body was taken over by the consciousness of the timeline of where he’ was meant to die, the consciousness that was in the parallel body took the place of his dieng body, leaving us with the Donald who escaped his fate and has now manipulated the future to become president, welcome to our tangent manipulated universe! I know all of this factual because I have prebirth memory of seeing these things take place before they took place!

    • @thekitkatshuffler
      @thekitkatshuffler 7 лет назад +4

      Yeah, I can see your point, Mick. I guess I meant my generation of contemporaries rather than a generation of movies. All my friends my age (born in 1980) have Stand By Me playing a big part in their cinema education despite only being 6 years old when it came out. We discovered it in our mid-teens, as I think a lot of people did, with Scream only a couple of years later and DD 5 years after that.
      Add American Beauty, Fight Club, Se7en and Sideways to the list. Maybe it's more reflective of the films me and my friends were drawn to, but they also seemed to be very zeitgeisty at the time.

    Один из немногих фильмов , которые задевают и остаётся приятный отпечаток и в то же время грусть от несправедливой жизни . Всё что нас окружает , всё что мы чувствуем и видим в этом мире - это и есть жизнь . В мире столько разных людей , которых сложно понять и стараешься подстроиться под них , чтобы узнать что-то новое и сделать выводы , которые могут помочь в отношениях и общении . Жизнь сложная штука . Тот человек , который мне показал этот фильм первый раз был мне как отцом . Я много времени проводил с ним . Но в один момент его жизнь резко изменилась , и я его не вижу уже более 10-ти лет . Порою времена бывают жестоки . И мы должны бороться со зверем внутри себя . Очень грустно писать это и понимаешь , что всё могло бы быть по другому и изменить своё будущее можешь только лишь ты сам . Но время идёт и оно даёт продолжение новой жизни , наших детей . Которых стараешься поставить на правильный путь . Это и есть смысл нашей непростой жизни , где мы боримся с трудностями каждый день .

    I only watched Donnie Darko 1 time (2 years ago) but it is still in my head. When I finished the movie ,I concluded that all the scenes where dream sequences which his brain played during hyper activity as he was dying due to plane engine falling. In that dream he fulfilled his desire to understand Time Travel, get a girlfriend, make fun of the teacher he hate, flood school etc. Also he was aware and excited for the upcoming halloween. His brain then connected these ideas in a weird way to play in his head as he die. Anyone else concluded so?
