I'm a Liverpool fan. One thing I will say about United is that when the youngsters come on, they seem to have that fire that the senior team are missing.
That young CB today showed some real passion. For me, that's all that we need as fans to get behind them. It was the same with conor bradley when he broke through, he showed that bite and fire needed against City, and that's what we need to see as fans. Of course the tactical side evolves after that but ETH seems to be lacking there. Was he just good at Ajax because they had the best players in the league when he took over? Possibly. The philosophy there certainly didn't need building. Is he capable of turning united around? I'm not sure.
For me, just from what I've seen this season, as well as United players looking clueless as to what they're doing tactically.. they've looked totally devoid of fight. (Exception being the Liverpool games where they should have been buried anyway).
The season is over. For me, they'd be as well playing the youngster's who at least have some passion and play for the badge. See who rises out of them for next season.

Players like Rashford want the manager sacked. He could see in the pitch him strolling and jogging without purpose. He’s mad because his friend Sancho was exposed. Casemiro is just old. Bruno runs like a headless chicken and turn over the ball 70 % of the time trying to make a hero ball or Hollywood pass.

@@abrahamcarrington5844 they had a proper good crop of players when he took over though. Sometimes managers can get lucky that way I believe. Walking into jobs where the club are just about to hit a good period with players. He done well with them, don't get me wrong.. but that team was talented. It wasn't as if he took a team from bottom half to winners is what I'm saying.

    • @Tridentus

It's easy (or much easier) to have that passion in your first or second year..
It's the exact same thing as if you switch to a much better job with bigger priorities.. I'd imagine you would work out of your skin and wake up everyday with hunger to prove yourself- switch to 3-4 years in when you're integrated, and the majority of your colleagues are just ticking over, but you haven't been there long enough to be a senior leader, it becomes much easier to swim in the current of mediocrity... and so the cycle continues.

United problem lies in midfield , non of them but Mainoo know how to keep hold of the ball , all Bruno & Casemiro do is kick it long and hope the wingers run to it . Which results in high turn overs and them taking more shots from teams because half them was chasing up the field . The day United sign midfielders who can retain the ball and keep possession, attackers like Hojlund won’t be doing a grave yard shift and defence won’t be forced to sit back

    • @hartzldn

I worry about the state of the punditry and the media as a whole over the last few years, this year especially. Yes, United has been very poor this season but not one pundit have addressed why properly. Carra was close but still off the mark. Ten Hag's system is high press, where all the team push up the field. THIS United side cannot fully play that, you have maguire who is very vulnerable facing his goal, sluggish mobility, Lindelof the same. So they have to play further back, that opens the midfield up. Also we have Rashford who just does not press. So we have a side where 3 or 4 players cannot play the system. If United bought 2 mobile Central defenders and a mobile defensive mid then you would see a better Ten Hag side. Unfortunately i don't believe Ten Hag will be there to change it.

Johnny Evans has had to play far more games than you'd expect a 6th choice CB to play. How can you expect consistency/progression when the team that is being put out every week is never the same? When Spurs lost a couple players it was all they spoke about. Liverpool had a few CB injuries a couple years ago and it was this huge crisis. Whereas United don't get given any leeway. What is hard to accept, is that United has got to go through the process of recovery to overturn the bad that happened even before ETH. Unlearning and learning again is a painful process to endure. Fans might not see progress now, but if he sees it, he must be allowed time for others to see it. Its inflicting self pain if United fans demand the team to play at a level of teams which have got established strategy that have been in place for more than three seasons. ETH's precious aspect now is time, let the guy have another full season.

No one expected United to get anything out of that game and there should be some recognition for that. It’s easy for Keane, Neville and Klopp to criticise United and talk about how much better Liverpool were but they couldn’t finish the job with Kwambala and Maguire at CB, no left back, Casemiro playing with an injury, Fernandes who’s exhausted from playing every single game. Ten Hag has been so unlucky this season and deserves some credit for getting a point yesterday

In the past UTD bought established players on huge packages , who then come in to under perform, and could not be moved on because of their salary. Tony Martial who is going to spend an entire season in the sick bay, and is not nursing an ACL tear or a tibia or femur fracture. They chose to go the route of bringing their youth players through - young and hungry still. But they need time to rise to the top. But the fan base want instant success - no matter the handicap or injury list. Every error by the team is amplified by the fan base and blown to high heavens. Other teams make the same mistake, you don't see it amplified or discussed so passionately, as it would have been for a similar error by UTD. An injury ravaged season, without doubt. Onana, Dalot, Bruno, have been the only constants - others are out with injury frequently. Further, the manager was handicapped by availability of funds to buy what he feels the team needed in the summer. The team needs investment especially in the wings and midfield. Avoid high block, because they do not have the legs to make that work.

Then the opponent manager realized that there would be no real risks of counter-attacks anymore from Man Utd and decided to increase the offensive line and the pressure. Naturally, the equalized came soon after Garnacho left the pitch in both matches. Man Utd needs urgently a replacement for Dalot during the matches, specially late in the second half when he shows to be unable to follow fast wingers of opponent teams.

Over 10 years of decay, top coaches have come and failed. How can this be EtH's doing. It has to be the players who cant be asked. You all seat there and blame the coach but not the players and the board. You say Klupp has brought players and they have done well but you fail to say that he has been given enough time and backing to build what they now call a championship team. Trust the process and give EtH time. Its easy to sit as pundits and criticise but we see what you all were as coaches. Ask these people if they will take the manutd job now and see what they will say.

In my view, Man Utd should not think about competing with Liverpool or City or about winning trophies. If they do win a Carabao Cup or an FA Cup it's a bonus, but their main aim should be to consistently finish in the top 4. They should secure their place in the top 4, look to beat teams they're supposed to beat consistently, and then progress past the groups in the CL. This will take them at least 2 seasons, more likely 3. Only then can they think about title challenges.

The way things are going if they choose to move on from Ten Hag no one can really argue. He’s set himself up for the fall. His decision making/tactics and attitude is strange to say the least.
However, if the club persist with players like Rashford, Mctominey they are setting next manager up for failure and players like Casemiro, Maguire, Varane, Antony, Wan Bissaka, Shaw, Onana, Lindelof and even Bruno simply aren’t good enough. I’m not saying they were never good enough but they certainly aren’t now. Time waits for no man.

Hence the reason a big gap in the midfield. Ten hag Cant play high press with these defenders, so the logical thing to do for the defenders is to stay back and guard the runs. And you cannot attack with just 4 players upfront these days you need the midfield joining in to build up play. Hence these gaps.
