Spectrum Internet wouldn't reduce my rate so I switched to Verizon - Verizon Vs Spectrum Speed

  • I've had Spectrum internet for a few years and noticed that Verizon had lately equipped our building for Fios High Speed internet.
    I was curious.
    I called Spectrum before switching to see if they would give me the 12 month special again, but they declined the request, even though I said that I would switch to Verizon if they couldn't give me the deal, especially because Verizon Fios had advertised faster service for a bit cheaper. Guess what I did?

    I work in retention at spectrum and the way it works is to raise your current rate and offer you a new bundle of junk services. Step 1 raise bill from $150 to $200. Step 2 offer to add junk and $10 discount. Step 4 get commission. Step 5 bait new customers with rebates then repeat.

      is there any way i can keep my $60 spectrum bill because it’s gonna go up soon

    • @gotsm9959
      @gotsm9959 2 года назад +5

      @@unhurt Unfortunately you can't keep the same price because having a cheap rate for new users then jacking the price the whole business model of spectrum. The best case scenario is calling customer service at spectrum and then tell him that you want to cancel and when they transfer you to retention tell them that you know how retention works and ask them what package deal you need to buy to get the minimum price increase. Note that the package deal that you get offered may not be listed on spectrum's website because it's the last resort for retention to stop people from canceling their service at spectrum.

    • @unhurt

      @@gotsm9959 i read a persons comment that they said they got to keep the same deal at spectrum and some said they even got them lowered down. i was just wondering because where i live i’m limited to either spectrum or verizon so i’m basically in a pickle rn.

    • @gotsm9959
      @gotsm9959 2 года назад +2

      @@unhurt Well Verizon is mostly for business users and you don't need it unless you are on a business contact because Verizon dose not throttle data or limit data sharing which is why Verizon flat rate is so expensive. Spectrum leases access points from Verizon and is cheap because spectrum limits data but if you are a lamen user and don't have to remote CRM then you don't need Verizon because you have spectrum hotspots which is basically using your home internet on the go. You will also get the app which is extension of your TV. iPhones are preset to prefer wifi so you just turn data off and you can have the pay by the gig for $14 . Some people get offers from retention agents but the agents take a commission loss just to keep a costumer. If a agent keeps a customer but doesn't sell anything they alteast get spark points.

    • @ljshowto
      @ljshowto  2 года назад +1

      Hi, the install took about 2 hours all together. I only use internet, so only one modem/router is needed for our place as it's only a 1 bedroom apartment. If you want tv service, then I could see why you may need additional boxes. I'm not sure why you would have to pay extra to stream to more devices, even at the lower tier service as I think that's 300 MBPS both ways (mostly) and that's pretty quick for lower tier. As far as the "UP" program, I think you mean "Verizon Up" which consists of rewards for being a verizon customer in a few dimensions, especially if you have both cell service plans in addition to FIOS. One perk could be a $5 starbucks card, or maybe a few buck off accessories, but to me that's not much. The only real deal I'm excited about is the $200 rewards card that I can use towards paying my verizon cell service or Fios bill with. It's supposed to be on it's way and I'll do a video on that soon.
      Good luck on your installation - you'll probably be way happier.

      On the highest level with Spectrum’s 1 Gig plan, the upload speed tops out at 35 mbps as compared to Verizon’s lowest plan at 300 mbps for upload. 300/300 - very synchronous for Verizon compared to every one of Spectrum’s asynchronous plans.
      My basic point was an upload speed comparison which is important to many who upload large files frequently and want more balanced video conferencing.
      The speed test was for general reference for the new plan.
