I went from an atrocious 3mb with frontier to over 200mb with Verizon. For those wondering why only 3mb. We just moved to a 3 bedroom mobile home. Everything is great about the home and the area but this is the gotcha part. Frontier made a deal with the management to be the sole provider for this mobile home park. Thank you for this report and review. I have had this Verizon 5G home internet for about a week now. It is working incredibly well compared to my Orbitel service. They raised my monthly service from $82 to $102. So I am thankful like you said for competition. When I called to cancel they of course we’re going to give me all kinds of deals. Still though not as good as Verizon. I have a Casita where my son lives and he is getting no interruptions for speed with his gaming. Sometimes it can be slower if we have a lot of streams going on. Thank you for the video. I'm giving Verizon 5G a try to replace my 20+ year service with Cox Communications, which has been like having a crazy girlfriend (lots of highs and lows) for the customer experience. Really hoping I'll get more stable service and performance from Verizon. I have a tower like 100 yards from my house, line of sight, no obstructions, so hopefully that will be very good. Oh yeah, going from $90 per month to $25 is gonna be nice too.
The fact I can get this package for $25 a month on top of my phone... That alone can erase every flaw the system has so it'll force the cable providers to innovate/drop their prices.
Your speed will go down once your tower is congested. It sounds good, but actual world usage is not that great. Since most likely, you're going to use the internet in the evening and night, which is when the tower gets congested. I had had it for a year since I moved into my rural home that does not have ISP yet.

Works pretty well so far even living in an apartment with windows that face away from the closest 5G tower and surrounded by a ton of obstructions. Verizon Home 5G is supposed to have better latency, however. Latency is not super important for me right at the moment since I don't really do any online multiplayer gaming, however it might be an issue when I try to set up a remote workstation that I can access when I'm away from home. The Comcast upload speeds were killing me working from home. At 5-10mbps up, when I used Dropbox for work, it throttled it down to 700 kbps! Has anyone have this happen? I got a promotion thing in the mail saying that my address qualifies for Verizon 5G. I didn't really consider it at the time. Fast forward 6 months later. I am considering trying it, but when I enter my info on Verizon's page, it tells me it isn't available in my area, yet.
Same thing happened to me. However, for a home-based business it was available - same address. Even more confusing is that the price was considerably higher at the business rate. I decided to call Verizon and interestingly I was told it is available for the personal plan. Needless to say I went with that.
I’ve been seriously thinking about getting this. I currently have xfinity service and my promotion ran out. IF they can’t offer the same promo I’m definitely doing with this. Your review is phenomenal and definitely answered all my questions.
FWIW, I have been going into the local Comcast office for 10 years and just asking them to give me the same promo pricing again and they have always been able to do that until last year. Last year the price for our service increased from $25 to $35 a month (with contract, own modem, and direct billing). That said, the new Verizon 5G Home Internet I am being offered is only $25 a month with comp speeds so I am def looking into it.
@@PaulBTheLibrarian Hi Paul I had it and had to return it and sadly go back to Comcast. The speed was fast. I’ll give it that, the thing is it gets very slow once everyone wakes up and starts using their phone. Everyone I mean in your neighborhood. The 5G that this runs off of is the same 5G that everyone uses their phone off of. Tge only time it worked decent was in the early morning hours and late at night. In between it was very slow slower than a cable modem, believe it or not. I’m not saying it’s a bad service but in my area it was just way too slow for me to use. Maybe you’ll have better luck.
Can you hard wire your PS5 directly into the router? I’m asking because I’ve always had better connection for online gaming with a hard wire connection.
very curious can to connect 2 tv's and fire stick and watch different shows at the same time and use the computer and iphone that way i can completely get rid of my cable tv

@@rlegerwood well it depends on what you do, most addresses at the moment are qualified for the LTE and 5G tabletop units which will provide speeds ranging from 50-300 Mb/s. If your address is prequalified for the 5G Ultra Wideband window mounted unit then you can expect speeds up to 1 Gb/s. So it really just depends on how you use your internet. With that being said, if your needs are basic browsing/streaming, then $25-$35 for internet service is a great deal ( considering you have a qualifying wireless plan and enrolled in autopay). However, if your address is not prequalifed for the window mounted 5G UW unit, and you require high bandwidth internet access, then I would stick with fiber. Hope this satifies your question.
@@rlegerwood If you are interested, I woudl recommnd checking which unit your address is qualified for, ordering a unit, and trying it out. You have 30 days to try it, and if you do not like it, then just call customer care to have the line deactivated and have return packaging shipped to your address for the return.

Even though out here in the semi-farm rural Eastern Long Island North Fork I we have 4G LTE it’s still a great product go big the red! And thanks for insight I’ll be subscribing to you.
Great details on how attenuation plays a factor in various ways. I just bought my first home and nearly fell out of my chair when I learned that Xfinity did not lay any cable in the neighborhood, nor do they plan to. The fastest fiber speeds available go up to 100Mbps/5Mbps. Based on many searches it appears that Verizon 5G home could be my saving grace - I'm hoping it fairs out well especially with talk about them turning on the ultrawide band in the future for the tower that covers my area. 🙏
I also switched to this as well. I was paying 80 bucks a month with spectrum and was getting between 40-80 mbps even though spectrum said my plan was 300 mbps but I wasn’t getting close to that. I got an email on Friday that my address now has 5g uw so gave it a shot and I was getting between 160-300 Mbps and was constant. Since I already have verizon service then it would only be 25 bucks a month for 10 years. Haven’t had issues yet.
This was one of the best reviews I've ever seen. Thank you! Currently we have internet coming into our shop with a bridge to another router in our home. Do you know if we can have a bridge with this?
Are you able to open any ports or setup DMZ to another router on the Verizon Home Router? Tmobile wireless home internet can not and never will (they only have IPv6)
Not anymore than you’d need someone to install a cellphone. It’s basically that, but inside a router. Good luck on your build! Hope it turns out awesome!

Have you noticed higher ping vs your wired connection?
Any testing done on the wired ethernet ports?
I have some questions, how do I connect a camera to it? Can I connect my xfinity camera to it? In the app I don’t see anything on connecting a camera.
can i build a small home network around this? like connect a switch to be wired in ?
yes, you can just uplink from one of the Ethernet ports on the router
how did you get to the pages for the router admin/
Can you hard wire your PS5 directly into the router? I’m asking because I’ve always had better connection for online gaming with a hard wire connection.
very curious can to connect 2 tv's and fire stick and watch different shows at the same time and use the computer and iphone
that way i can completely get rid of my cable tv
My big house uses a mesh system now, will this system handle this in its own?.
Thank you so much for your review. You explained everything very well.
This is a really great review. Make me think about getting this now. Big thumbs up!
So the router isn't connected to the wall? We can move it around?
How does it compare to cox in San Diego?
How do you get to that setup screen
So is this service internet better than Spectrum? 3 smart TVs, laptop and playstation
Did you try to use a third party wireless home internet router? Like the TP Link Deco X50-5G?
How do we access admin setting to turn off auto band with settings
can we use a mesh system with this router?
thx

I have my own router fed from a modem from WOW. If I get the Verizon router, can I use a lan cable to connect my own router, (thus not having to change any devices that were hooked up?
Hello. What's the difference between this and Fios internet?
Fios is internet via fiber optics, this unit provides internet via Verizon’s 5G/LTE cellular network.
@@christopherhooper5618 Is there a cost benefit for choosing one over the other based on comparable plans (are their plans similar?)?
Do you have to return the unit after ending service?
How can I connect my TV to the cube?
How is it with video games. We have so many devices.
How do you get to that settings page?
My question is can you use a 4x4 mimo antenna?
Can you stream video game footage and signal will not drop?
I appreciate the excellent and concise review, it is much appreciated! You definitely make complex things easier to understand :-)
Thank you Steven!🙏🏿
How do you get into the Admin panel ? I have several smart devices that only work on 2.4G.....can I change them with the Admin Panel....Thanks.......Great VIDEO
Solid review my dude!
How is this different from Verizon’s mmWave level service ?
How come you have that model I have the one where I have to put it on my window/wall is there a way for me to upgrade because I’m pretty sure the new model has the Ethernet ports and the old one I have only has one
I have 8 cameras 3 firesticks 2 cell phones 2 Alexa plus my smart tv.. will this be enof band without any of my equipment going down
Can you take this device on the road while traveling on my RV?
i have a wifi printer and smart light bulbs that only work with 2.4 GHz. so, will this Verizon service work?
Is this only suitable for an apartment or you would need two for a two story building? 2500 sq.ft?
Great review, thank you for info you provided. I am happy with my switch so far too.
I went in to look at the band steering issue and I don't see that as an option.
All my Apple product have no problem, but on my PC it doesn’t even show under available WiFi. What’s wrong
Can you disable Wi-Fi and connect it via lan as a failover to a capable dual wan router?
@@jcberb I tried load balancing to increase my bandwidth using 2 ISPs and it created problems for my vpn at work and other login websites. I had to switch to failover. Best luck. UPDATE 7/22 - found article for passthrough IP which worked. very happy.
i live in a pretty populated city and i only bring like 10mbs and i’m not sure if it’s interference from some physical source but i get a lot of connection issues daily. is there something i’m doing wrong?
Any updates on this? I'm upgrading to this soon
So does it have to be near a window?
Bro every time I download something the Wi-Fi goes out with a red solid light does anyone know how to fix it????
Could this be used as just a modem? I currently have a google nest mesh system in my house I would like to keep using for wifi instead of the provided Verizon one.
this was a very solid review i liked it and the honesty in it and informational thank you
🙏🏾
Thanks for a great video. Can you connect your own router to extend the signal?
Great video answered all my questions!!
I’m curious how well it works with online console gaming? That is my only concern.
I think he said his son's gaming experience was good in the video.
@@dabbayoo video talked about “mobile gaming over Wi-Fi”. Not once did it mention any console or PC gaming.
Yo I really like that poster on the wall lol
Console gaming and updating/downloading of games?
You gave the best review I have seen. Thanks.
My settings aren't the same almost as if they noticed it's an issue but still issues connecting use a ps4
Hi I have 5G in Indianapolis, I have the white box that goes on the window. Did they offer you to have the window box or the other device that you showed in your video.
hi there i recently got the internet home from verizan i didnt get the plus plan im not seeing anywhere near the numbers you are getting i put my unit in the window and i only get 80 down and 12 up any tips ? iv not messed with settings in the admin page
Do you steam all the regular channels with the router, or are they not telling me I have to pay for something else. Is the box just for the internet. I was told I would be able to get all the channels I normally watch and even be able to record... Is this true. Or am I getting suckered into paying for more things to do that????
I just got mine sunday and it took 5 minutes to set up and is working great
5G Home Plus is uncapped, I use it in mmWave-covered area (SF, Rincon Hill) and often get 1900/100 Mbps. I had to get a switch with multiple 2.5 Gbps ports to utilize it in full.
Only if you have the higher level of 5G service in your area
@@ebell6512 Oh yeah, should've mentioned that, it's only in mmWave-covered areas. Well, maybe close enough to them (like, my iPhone can't connect to mmWave from the place where I put my modem).
Wow, Shaqa, Great review I stumbled onto your site on RUclips after my Google filter showed I purchased a VZ Gateway 5G home Internet.
Really appreciate your review. My exact use case scenario.
Great video my brother thank you for the knowledge!
Great review!
Would love to see an update review.
not available in sf residential area yet.
Thanks for the quality content. You've earned my sub.
It is nice to see someone who is able to break down the science, I have subscribed to your presentation
Can you hook up a router if you run media over your home network?
Does this need to be at a home or can I use it in my camper van to get wifi while I travel?
Did you try hooking up to a PC directly with an ethernet cord to check speeds and latency?
This was one of the best reviews I've ever seen. Thank you! Currently we have internet coming into our shop with a bridge to another router in our home. Do you know if we can have a bridge with this?
Are you able to open any ports or setup DMZ to another router on the Verizon Home Router? Tmobile wireless home internet can not and never will (they only have IPv6)
Do I need an installer to set up everything in my barndominium that we haven't finished building yet
Not anymore than you’d need someone to install a cellphone. It’s basically that, but inside a router. Good luck on your build! Hope it turns out awesome!
I live in a major metropolitan suburban area, and this (and T-Mobile) STILL aren't available in my area. It's super frustrating, I really want to ditch the cable modem and the slow fiber options in my house, but still have to suffer with Spectrum I guess.
You can take your old router and duplicate the signal using the ethernet port! What I do!
