    Today we take on Mass Effect's hardest achievement, insanity. It drove me to insanity but I also make some decisions that will have you questioning how sane I actually was in the first place. If you're looking for a challenge, then you need to check out this Mass Effect Insanity video. It's a intense, yet rewarding, experience that will push your gaming skills to the limits. Whether you're a seasoned gamer or a first-time player, this achievement is definitely worth trying out! If you're a fan of the Mass Effect series, then you know how important it is to unlock all the achievements in the game. In this video, I recount the story of how one particular achievement drove me to insanity.

      If you are going to play ME2 on insanity I have a couple of tips:
      1. Go with a soldier with Warp Ammo as a bonus power, with that you only need to level up Disruptor Ammo and Warp Ammo, those two ammo powers cover all resistances in the game, that way you don’t have to use level up points on other ammo powers.
      2. Play the little bitch tactic, in ME2 anything can stagger you, and getting staggered on Insanity is a death sentence.
      3. Your squad mates WILL inevitably get knocked down, the entire point of picking a soldier is so you can pull your own weight in the damage department and don’t depend on your squad mates.
      4. This is THE MOST IMPORTANT, to get the achievement in ME2, you ONLY need to beat the Suicide Mission, you can turn off Insanity after that and complete the rest of the Loyalty Missions. You can still get the whole crew out alive if you know how the Suicide Mission works, that way you only do the missions that are necessary, ideally the ones who are more straightforward and don’t have a huge difficulty spike (like Grunt and Tali’s), missions that you have to fight but are mostly dialogue (Jack and Jacob) or ones that require no combat whatsoever (Thane and Samara). If know how the Suicide Mission works, you can plan out which squad mates have to be loyal to get everyone out alive before the countdown ends.
      Good luck and excellent narration for this video!

      @@goldzior1128 Turn off the companions ability to use powers automatically (the AI is stupid, and you'll need them when you need them, not the AI).
      Think about what your chosen class represents; Soldier = rifleman, Infiltrator = Snipy, or sneaky (or both), Vanguard = up-close and personal (even if you aren't a nova build), etc and match weapons to the class.
      You only need one weapon, which will keep your recharge bonus at 200%. Use your combo attacks (which is why you tell the companions when to use powers) - you will do more damage with them than with weapons - especially against the big units.
      Play with the various companions to find which synergise with your style of play. If in doubt, turn to the Turian God of War (properly spec'd, Garrus becomes a veritable powerhouse)

      Huh? Never found it that difficult. I found insanity easy enough to add more challenge to my runs. Most of the time, unless absolutely necessary, I don't use any weapons (like that panel we need to shoot in the elevator. I don't remember if it's in the omega dlc or the cerberus invade the citadel mission, but no ammo mean you ne to load to an earlier point).
      It's skill only with weapons used only during last mission for it to look more epic. I die sometimes sure. Marauder shield, being probably the cause of the majority of my deaths, but besides him, as long as you use covers, the figths are pretty easy. I died more times in mass effect andromeda counting only the terrain hazards then in all 4 games combined, without counting the terrain hazards (terrain hazards, meaning eos's radioactivity, voeld's -1000ºf, eladen's 1000ºf or kadara's acidic puddle of liquid or the deadliest of them all, the cosmic smoke of death's found near remnants spots and the remnants pools of deadly liquid).

      @@ericcardinal9138 it’s definitely much easier to do on PC with K+M than on console with a controller. If you play a tankier class like vanguard or soldier it gets piss easy after a few playthroughs since you learn to abuse broken builds (getting the spectre AR in ME1 as early as possible and constantly headshotting, adrenaline rush spam in ME2, maxed out Garrus one shotting banshees and using flare as a combo finisher ability in ME3 etc.). I find ME2 with an adept the hardest, since it’s just annoying. Every enemy gets either shields or armor on top of their base health, and other than warp, you have no other abilities to get rid of them, since you only have CC spells and those can’t penetrate extra resistances. That can get rather silly, especially on the collector ship when you meet with the Praetorian and other than that mf chasing you in a tiny combat area the game also throws a ton of husks at you which you HAVE to shoot to kill since your abilities don’t do shit to them.

    • @ericcardinal9138

      @@jerkopatrik can't say if easier on pc nor as vanguard. I played both on ps3 and ps4 and always as eather tech, adept or a mic of both. As an adept the trick vs shield ennemies is to take zaeed with his anti-shield ammo and boost the skill so the whole group use them instead of just him. I still won't use the guns, but a 2nd squad members using them helps a lot vs shields. Also some weapons are way more effective against shields. With snipers it's the indra. The geth shotgun is doing a fantastique job. For assault riffle, the best is the collector gun.
      Generaly, I let the squad shoot the ennemies will I stun them with projections or mele, my other skills are for ennemies which have lost they're shiels (although projection is still used to push them off the map when possible).
      In me 3 it's way easier, I generaly use tali's energy drain on shields. Best skill for that. Nearly one-shot them and refill my own at the same time.

    • @cervanntes
      @cervanntes Год назад +3

      When I did my insanity run, I found most of it challenging but not overly difficult. In ME1, my biggest headache, by far, was the enemies that rush you -- I'm looking at you, krogan and geth destroyers! ME2 was probably the most difficult for me overall on insanity although the pain was more evenly spread out compared to the other two and not as likely to go from one extreme (not that hard at all) to the other (five deaths later....) as much. Of the three, Mass Effect 3 was by far the easiest on Insanity for me with a couple of notable exceptions -- multiple banshees (one was not an issue, 2+ could give me problems), the academy atrium, and, at least for me, the solo run right after the infamous sushi incident on the Citadel -- being stuck on one sliver of health during a solo insanity run was brutal for my poor adept, especially since so many enemies had shields and being stuck alone meant not being able to use squadmates to help bring those shields down.

    • @jerkopatrik
      @jerkopatrik Год назад +1

      @@cervanntes oh yeah the solo run with one hp and no medigels was kinda hard in ME3. The rest was a literal walk in the park. The amount of OP things you can abuse in ME3 are beyond insane. Also helps if you played a lot of multiplayer (which is still to this day fucking brilliant!) and got used to the combat, which if you did, was sooo rewarding. BioWare really stepped up their development gameplay wise in the third game. God it was so fun; and it also applied to Andromeda. Pity the writing and story in that game were just… lol.

However if you do the Doctors side quest (make sure you talk to her after recruiting Garrus in order to get the quest to trigger the next time you visit) the one where she is being blackmailed. Afterwards she will buy and sell items from you at a significant discount. You can sell weapons to her, then buy them back from other vendors (don’t sell more than 20 items at time or they will be lost forever) rinse and repeat and you will eventually get enough credits to purchase the Specter weapons. These guns make the difficulty spike much more manageable on Insanity.

    I played the original trilogy multiple times on Insanity. The comments are correct, Insanity becomes easy once you know the combat. Know what weapons to use to counter what protection, make generous use of abilities and ability combos, and pay attention to positioning during fire fights. Also helps to know what types of enemies are weak to what weapons and abilities, as the Blue Suns for example use a lot of shields so use of Overload or fast firing weapons would work better than say the Blood Pack who tend to favor armor instead. Eventually I couldn't even play it on hardcore anymore because it felt too easy to me. I can't even begin to put into words how much this trilogy means to me. If I could go back and replay it again with fresh eyes and mind... I'd give anything for that.

    I just yesterday got that achievement. I feel like im tactically savvy cuz tactical sh00ters or rpgs are my favorites. Hardest part was that one ship FULL of biotics in ME1, cuz they would all spam stasis, the ship FULL of husks in ME1 cuz they blow up. !!!!!!KROGAN!!! i didnt do that mission with the crates guarded by like 5 atlases, and then in ME3 the Armax Arena at spectre level. That was just insane. And then the Shielded Marauder in the end of game. I feel like playing a normal playthrough was harder at parts somehow. Possibly because on insanity i knew not to fuck around and knew when to split tactics of running to and from cover or just staying in cover. Most enemies were easier with that mindset. Oh and that DLC in 2 with the Batarian prison. Hard because you run out of ammo defeating all of the indoctrinated forces. And you're alone so no power spamming.

  • @williambrulip512
    @williambrulip512 Год назад

    These Krogan fights on Virmire are actually very easy when you know how to cheese them ( that implies using a " b%%ch tactic " ) .
    Open the big door that leads to them, but don't go through it. Just shoot them using the sniper rifle, and powers.
    When your life goes down, go far to the left and let the door close to stop the gunfight ( they never come through it, so you're safe here ) , and put your controller down until you're back to full life again. Make sure to have the armor mod that slowly heals you though ( and to give one to each of your party members too, so that they can slowly heal over time too ) . Once everyone is back to full life, do that all over again.
    Same goes for the Krogan on Feros. Never approach them, and never stay where you are. As soon as you see them coming at you, run as far away as possible ( they can't follow you too far, there's a limit distance they can't go past, so use that to your advantage to wait for your health to go back to full life too, and then go back ) .
    The only Krogan fight who can be hard, is the one at the end of Liara's recruitment mission. Because it is a confined space. Can't run away from him.
    But that fight is a lot easier in Legendary edition though.
    In the original game, that Krogan was constantly running at you to headbutt you. In Legendary edition, he's running a lot less, which makes that gunfight a lot more easier.
    Generally speaking, it's the confined spaces gunfights who are the hardest. As long as you can run away from the fight to put the controller down and wait for the health to go back to full, well, no fight is hard. Time consuming, because there's a lot of waiting to do, but, easy.
    The golden rule when playing on Insanity is that, when choosing your teammates to go do a mission, it's never about who you want to bring with you ( or which characters you like ) , but about " Who's powers are gonna be the most useful for this mission ? "
    In ME1, the answer is simple. It's always Kaidan and Liara. 100% of the time, they are the most useful on the battlefield. All the others are pretty much useless.
    They can use Throw to make enemies fly away ( useful for hordes of zombies, like on Feros, or stop a Krogan from charging you ) , Lift ( make an enemy fly in the air, again, useful to have one less zombie on Feros to deal with for a moment, and stop a Krogan from charging you, and also Krogan can't heal while they're in the air, which makes them a lot easier to kill, just make them fly, and use the assault rifle to make maximum damage while they're in the air ) , Stasis ( freezes an enemy for a moment. Can't deal damage to him, but that's one less enemy shooting at you, so that's cool ) , Overload, which is very useful for Geths. Liara has Warp, useful against organic enemies. Singularity, make enemies fly in the air, especially useful for zombies, just let them surround you, and use her Singularity to make all of them fly in the air, making them easy targets to gun down with the shotgun.
    Ashley, on the other hand, is the exact definition of completely useless on the battlefield, as none of her powers are ever useful. Kaidan and Liara's powers are a lot more useful than anybody else's.
    Now that you've done ME1 on Insanity, know that you've done the hardest of the 3 games on Insanity ( this is coming from someone who played through the entire trilogy on Insanity dozens of times, so someone who has a lot of experience in it ) . The other 2 are easier, especially if always picking your crew members based on which powers are gonna be the most useful for the mission, and take advantage of the combat system.
    There will be a few gunfights that are gonna be difficult here and there, but, at least 95% of these 2 games are easy even on Insanity once you understand how the combat system works as well as which powers, and which weapons, are useful against each types of enemies.

    I play on Insanity on all my playthroughs now days. I've also played so much that I know the most obvious braindead strategies. Example:
    1: In ME2 going Sentinel might be your best bet. I found it to be one of the easiest.
    2. In ME3 go either Vanguard or Sentinel. Sentinel you can get your shields to such a ludicrously high amount that enemies shooting at you will feel like you're playing on easy or story mode. I often found myself walking out in the middle of the field just taking my time shooting. I think it's Ashley, but a squad member will give all other squad members a +15% Shield bonus I think it was. Then spec into shield bonuses.
    Vanguard has a more fun method. As you charge attack an enemy, then slam to the ground, then charge again by the time your done with the slam. Keep weapons light and your only real enemy are instant kill melee enemies like the Banshee, Phantom, and Atlas Mech. Adepts can be good as well, but require a bit more then Vanguard.
    3: Cerberus Harrier and Venom shotgun are busted. Especially the Venom shotgun. A fully charge shotgun shot can and has taken out Brutes and Banshee's in one shot. Harrier is more balanced. There is also the N7 Typhoon which can be great if you go for the heavy duty path.
    4: Squads matter. ME2, but especially ME3 has a huge emphasis on your squad selection. I remember how utterly broken Garrus is in ME3 with the N7 Typhoon and Armor Piercing rounds. I also found Javik to be amazing to use for Biotic detonations. I think it's called Dark Channel. But it will stay on an enemy for awhile and act as a slow poison. That's when you launched a throw biotic attack and it will detonate the enemy.

    Here's a tip for when you do ME2.
    Pick the Soldier class, they have an ability that slows down time and recharges pretty fast, and as you upgrade it you get better damage and resistance while it is active. It makes headshots super easy, and those deal an insane amount of damage.
    Go for Mordin as your first companion, he'll give you what's pretty much a magnum when you meet him. Combine the two and you'll be almost one-shoting most enemies with a headshot and you can pop 3-5 of those each ability usage, with a cooldown so fast that by the time you finish reloading you'll have it ready again.
    A few times in the game you'll find an enemy who can kill you even if you do this, usually either a rusher with lots of health or someone firing explosive projectiles at you. Switch to the rifle(you should be able to get the LMG in the collector base, which is even better) and remember to upgrade your heavy weapon so you can quickly kill them.
    Ultimately legendary is all a matter of knowing when you can pop out of cover to shoot, be smart and careful and you should be fine.

Second time a krogan ripped my head off cos I was stuck behind cover and fumble fingered my RUN AWAY tactic. Third I got swamped by a horde of exploding rachni green bugs as soon as I opened the door. And I always roleplay through the series, so I never managed to do it and I always settle for hardcore with Mass Effect 2.
