I played the extreme survivor and died only twice. Not as hard as I thought it would be. Although I had finished the game over 5 times so I knew what to do. Felt like the 90s games with manual saving
The mode is just survivor with fewrer checkpoints. If you have the damn thing memorized, it is not hard (survivor isn't that hard). But if you haven't it all memorized like you had, the only "challenge" the mode adds is having to watch the cinematics or go through the interactive cinematics that are all over the game over, and over, again, then getting insta deathed by something you hadn't memorized, and then you have to go through the cienmatic stuff yet again before getting back to the same point, overcoming it, and probably rinse and repeat a few times until you have the whole thing between the current and the next check points memorized. It doesn't add challenge at all, just forced repetition.
It was a lot of fun honestly, more fun than the regular playthrough, I really felt like an action heroin just barely scraping by and using everything I find in a level, it's just good shit. Similar to extreme difficulty in uncharted, I'd say the game at its best on extreme, like you have to experience every mechanic and godamn it's just amazing. Not to mention it's not frustratingly difficult, it's reasonable. One of the best platinum I'd say. I was afraid of this trophy and the time trial challenges but those two ended up being the most fun ones in the end
I do not know how to word this but love that you’ve brought back the multiple series (days,achievements, new game reviews,etc) while still being the Voiy we love and pushing out more content. Looking forward to what’s next and still hoping for some of the “terrible” games to return as another series
Puzzles were pretty bad on this because I normally do as many achievements in one go as possible. Sweaty plams were a constant during platforming. It took around a month to do it tho
Wish the first game had difficulty achievements. I decided to go back to 2013 Tomb Raider after watching this video, wanted to check out myself - then Rise of the Tomb Raider, and then Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and lastly Cory in the House Remake.
To be fair I know didn't sexualize Lara in these, but in my opinion she is far cuter in the reboot. I never liked og Lara, I know polygons and all that; but even in like magazines and stuff I thought she always looked weird as hell. This Lara is cuter, more badass; knows survivilism. All around just a better character.
I kinda wish they would have given Lara her iconic duel pistols like in the old games, not only for the syria part of this game. I thought that your hooking would grab into anything in the 09:00, i thought you had become the SpiderLara.
Ima have to finish watching this later but this achievement kinda reminds me of the playing Kingdom Hearts 3 with all pro codes trophy which has about 1% completion rate 😂 I remember when Critical Mode first released for Kingdom Hearts 3… Everyone was losing on the first tutorial battle against Darkside the weakest enemy in the entire franchise it definitely reminds me alot of your first L on the tutorial battle 😂
surprised you didnt use poison arrows. They are so op they kill anything even the undead. Only thing they dont kill are bears and big cats and i think the flamethrower guys
I’ve done it. It was a lesson in persistence, I’ll give it that! It’s not so awful if you’re willing to replay large sections that go wrong, but you do need a lot of patience.
I tried for this achievement, went for the final jump in the first tomb, Lara just nopes it and falls right before the exit door, it sent me all the way back and I walked away from it. Then I did Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Deadly Obsession difficulty, which was pretty much the same as this difficulty mode, and had very little issue, just the usual ‘Lara won’t grab things’, ‘Lara jumps at a completely different angle to the one I was aiming’ and ‘the grappling hook hits the surface but doesn’t work’ things. To be fair, there were a couple of segments where the game actually gave you checkpoints because there were large stretches between campfires, like the flood sequence for example, which made things slightly less frustrating. And the final boss was dogshit, but honestly, it was pretty doable, and yet only 0.38% of people have done so.
Actually the trophy/achievement is called Ultimate Survivor and it can be done on Survivor difficulty not just the Extreme Survivor difficulty and Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the best of the reboot trilogy by a clear mile.

Its kind of time intensive, but not an extremely difficult achievement. Most painful part are the extreme loading times, but its not the hardest gameplay imaginable. Its also not a permadeath run.
So I'm only about 2 minutes in as of writing this but as someone who has 100% the single player campaigns on all three survivor trilogy games on Hard, Extreme Survivor and Deadly Obsession respectively because who has time for a second playthrough XD. I'd say the third one is the hardest to do being I've put nearly double the hours into it according to steam. It's also the only one I have all the achievements for currently due to far too many of Tomb Raider's achievements requiring multiplayer grinding. Score attacks in Rise being something I come back to every so often because I don't find them all that enjoyable as well as the need for a co-op partner for half the Endurance achievements. Either way I hope the journey wasn't as bad as the title suggests and would love to see you go for some the other achievements if you have any more left to get.

That is not a harder achievement, it is as easy to complete as survivor difficulty. It is just so much more obinoxious and tedious in return for no more fun than survivor... so just play survivor. Same actual challenge, none of the time wasters, none of the bullshit that is a tradeoff for nothing. Maybe if the game didn't have as many insta deaths, clunky to skip cinematics and unskippable interactive cinematics, it could be a fun mode (still not really harder, but it feels a bit different). But this is not the game Rise of the Tomb Raider is, it is a game full of instant deaths, clunky to skip cinematics, interactive cinematics, and interactive cinematics with cheap poorly signaled insta deaths baked in them! You either just remember every sequence of the game so you don't get insta deathed, which means you need to go through all that cinematic horse crap again just to get to the damn point of trying again, or you just masochistically trial and error while sitting through all the cinematic crap again and again between tries. That is not more challenge, though I do agree it is acting pretty challenged. For this mode to be even worth playing in this game as it is, it had to be something else than just survivor with fewer checkpoints. Something like that can work in some other game (specially games with less "look at me, I am cinema in a video game" sequences, which aren't bad but are a bad mix with this type of mode), not in this one.

Extreme survivor is easy, but the "get gold score in every level" achievement is absolutely agonizing and time consuming.

I've 100% this game and watching this. I have no memory of this game story and gameplay.
I actually didn't have much of a problem with this, the score attack achievement for gold medals on all levels is a different story however
I played on pc to be clear, so the aim assist isn't as big a deal
