I let a Random Wheelspin decide my next Achievement (and regretted it) because I ended up getting the Deadly Obsession achievement in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. This game was a lot of pain and it was weird revisiting it in 2023. It's definitely got some strong points when compared to Rise of the Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider 2013 but also has some of the lowest lows. Maybe it not being developed by Crystal Dynamics had a big impact? Either way I was here to suffer through the achievement for your enjoyment!

This game was a lot of fun, with a few slow parts. Well worth the play. A very solid game once you get in the groove. I didn't get the story either, or just didn't really care. But I loved the atmosphere. I would stay too if I was her. I mean, everyone speaks English and the hidden city is beautiful.

As someone who has this achievement, I recall the section of the cave where you first directly encounter and fight the tribal guys to be the worst. It's a long and dangerous section to go without at least a checkpoint halfway through.
Totally agree with you. But it's still the best part of the game for me. Gonna go for the plat tomorrow. Hope deadly obsession won't destroy me.
I went into The Pillar Tomb without realizing that it want part of the story. I had to spend at least 2 hours getting through the first half which was buggy ass climbing mechanics and abit of problem solving. The second half was combat which is easier than parkour imo, I just never trust the jumps she makes
The trick is to go for deadly obsession on NG+ on a 100% safe file, that way you can breeze through just the main quests ignoring every single one of the side quests. However the lack of safe points on this difficulty is still kind of annoying in certain areas especially when Lara decides to jump left or right instead of up on the very last jump before the next bonfire.

As someone who actually got deadly obsession, its not as bad as you make it sound. I did it as a second playthrough which immediately kills the missing white paint and the "no hints" part since I still remembered the path from my first playthrough. also not being able to save just is a problem in a few parts of the game. The end part was the worst but I got it. I thought completing every tiral on silver or bronze or whatever was a lot harder. e

I just completed SOTTR with 100% achievements, including Deadly Obsession, and to be totally honest - it wasn't as bad as I expected. Yes, it was frustrating, when I died couple times due to silly mistake, and had to repeat whole section, but overall it wasn't so bad. I completed main storyline on highest difficulty for this trophy in less than 1 day.

The scene in the oil fields of Lara emerging from the water was my favorite part of the game.
Lara had lost pretty much everything. Her parents, now Jonah, and she was hellbent on killing Rourke, which I still wish happened here.
Ik I’m gonna dread playing this, but if I can do fallout 4 survival and lose hours of progress because I didn’t sleep for an hour, I can do this

Currently working on the same achievement, and sadly have to agree with your opinion of the game, first part is lit, the bugs are horrendous and why can't I skip cutscenes. This is the reason I had about a yearlong break in my initial playthrough when it came out

*Lit means #tipsy, and always did.

The gamemode really isnt that hard, just be careful not to fall in parkour and having to reset. The only challening parts I found is when I had to be sneaky with like 10 enemies lurking around
I really don’t recommend this difficulty for a first play through 😂
The last game was not too bad because we still had puzzle hints, survival instinct and white paint.
None of that is in this mode
I've seen so many videos about desdly obsession difficulty, and thh I dont get it. Completed mine with 7 fails in total, in 8-9 hours and man, I am not some kind of a great player overall

the hardest difficulty on this isn't even that hard specially the combat. it's too easy compare to the other similar games. the only issue with this difficulty is the disabled auto save. in some section you make one little mistake and you could lose as much as 10 minutes of progress maybe even 30 minutes if you've been collecting items and doing sidequests and not running into a camp fire.
Definitely need to see another one of these.

I attempted it 5 times twice I died at the Cozumel helicopter fight and then the other 3 attempts I died at the stupid underwater mashing button so given up on it not having Survival Instincts is ridiculous and there should be more campfires making you redo everything if you died is just pathetic.
