    These videos have really helped me out. I picked up a 84 200s with a electric start engine for $150 and with little work got it going. And picked up a 200m parts bike with excellent fenders for $300. I've bought well over half a dozen different ones

      Hard to beat the 200cc engine, that's why I stick with them, there fast enough to have a lot of fun, and wont break the bank to build and dead reliable, for a long time. Thank you for watching.

    You’re absolutely right about location and value, where I’m at people want a fortune for something that been beaten to death, that 200es probably could’ve sold here for $1000 or more, my buddy dropped $5000 on an 86 350x with a chewed up head and got it fixed because it was worth it because there’s very few of those bike around here, it’s all about the value you see in it

    Oh man, super bummed to hear about this. RUclips recommended your videos to me and I've been watching the whole set on your 84 big red. I was really hoping you'd end up replacing the forks and doing a DIY video on it. I have a 1984 Big Red that I paid way more money for than I should have, it's in amazing condition but I've been sweating bullets ever since I learned about the front forks not being repairable when they go.

    Bad luck, but a ton of good parts is alright. You mentioned the 250 R. There's one for sale locally to me in France and in pristine condition for 4,600 euros. My recently obtained 1985 200 ES is driving me nuts. Been stood for nine years and virtually everything was rusted solid. I haven't managed to get it running yet, but with your informative videos for reference I'm sure I'll get it sorted. Many thanks.

    I was planning to use a 200E engine on the roller 200X frame that I picked up a while back myself. Other than notching the down tube on the front of the frame, some of the other guys on 3WW said that you also have to do some grinding on the frame by the swingarm pivot in order to clear the sub transmission. I decided to use the 200E for something else and put a 185 engine on there since I have a couple laying around. I thought I'd let you know about the sub trans clearance issue so that you'd be aware of this ahead of time.

    Funny enough, I never had a go-kart as a kid. Once my brothers and I were old enough we learned how to ride on my fathers 82 185S. I didn't have anything decent of my own until my late teens and it was a clapped out Blaster that needed a top end rebuild. Once it was rebuilt and some worn out bushings were replaced it was a fun ripper. It also helped me learn how to drive a clutched bike.
    I bought an old beat-up Chinese dirt bike a couple of summers ago for $200 and found out the engine was strong and healthy. So even if the bike itself was junk I had a good engine because even the cheap clones go for $600. But I let a friend have it and he got it into rideable condition. We're going to see how much work it'll take to transplant the engine into a Suzuki DR250 frame.
    As for current project machines I have an 85 Kawasaki KLT 110 three wheeler that needs some tlc and I have an 81 Yamaha YZ 465 that needs to be rebuilt and put back together. I just need to get it home so I can make a parts list. I've just been busy with other stuff and also waiting for winter to go away. :)

    • @Mrcbuilds
      @Mrcbuilds  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching Slane, That DR250 is a good engine, the Yamaha YZ is a hard one to find. good luck on the project!

    • @Slane583
      @Slane583 3 года назад

      @@Mrcbuilds No problem, I'm glad I found your videos. I didn't know some of Honda's top-ends were interchangeable until watching. Though the plans with the DR frame have changed the bikes original engine is toast. Funny enough I've had an easier time finding parts for my vintage YZ than I did finding parts for the DR. I have the original 465 jug and a YZ 490 jug, but I'm sticking with the original 465, supposedly the port timing is better than the 490. I'm going to give some VintCo parts a try for the stock bore and anything else I'll have to get from ebay. :)

    Nice 350x great vid dude and thanks for shedding some light on the buying selling and that the location of the bike determines its price like I'm in the north east a 1986 honda atc 250r goes for about 5000 bucks 80s atv's are making a come back and there are serious collectors the market is booming and I'm said collector myself I currently have a 200x I'm building and I just dropped 4500 bucks on a 86 250r from Washington state that's in rough shape but she's all there and she runs strong

    The prices on them are crazy now, people with money to burn and wanting to relive their youth i guess. My 84 200ES i bought for $600, that was over ten years ago though, now they are $1500-2500 here, if they arent running a little cheaper, but running and even beat to crap ones go for $1000. I paid $600 for a 81 ATC200 last fall, and i traded an old cycle country plow for a 82 200E this winter. But those are the cheapest i have been able to get. Now they all start around $1k where i am.

I dont know anyone else in my area with 200x's. i ended up getting a huge pile of spare parts too. some would say i paid too much some would say i scored big time. Hard to say because theres literally none coming up for sale. you scored on that 84 es. lots of good parts for the money you paid.
