      I had a 72 750 triple and still have a 83 xlx and with a few mods these bikes we’re awesome

    I had a fully loaded CX 500 with fairing and bags and it was a mountain carving machine with none of the handling problems mentioned. Thanks.

    The cx500’s crankshaft bearing failures led to handling problems, as did its frame rigidity? Who makes this drek up?

      Handling problems may be when the crank bearings fail and the engine locks up. I’m kinda sure anyone riding that bike when it happened would agree with handling problems when the rear tire goes into a full on skid

      Yeah they don't handle too well when the crankshaft stops turning and the rear tire locks up

      When (and if) the engine locks up there is always the clutch….unless you’re a slow thinker.

    Taming 2 stroke power surge is whats rewarding and addictive. (can also be dangerous). But you dont ride this things to be safe.

      I've seen many of these, the CX 500 was a great allrounder, and Honda also made a "Silverwing" version, along with a 650 version, and they also came up with a Turbo version..

    I'm sorry, but this guy is criticizing motorcycles for no reason. You can't measure motorcycle from the 70's-80's-90's with today's standards and many of the motorcycles that are criticized are because they are ridden by inexperienced drivers.

      Have owned 4 different goldwing put over 150k on 3 an 200k on the last. Never any problems except normal maintenance. Oil changes filters and timeing belts. Most dependable bikes I have ever owned.

      I my book, the Goldwing was rather a sensation at the time. The Goldwing started an new era of long distance luxe tourers. The unheard high quality and affordable prices of Japanse bikes was THE problem for european and American manufacturers.

    I was expecting the Yamaha TX750 of 1972 to appear on the list. To deal with the vibration of a vertical twin it had balancer shafts. The problem was they were in the sump. They whipped up the oil into a froth that was incapable of lubricating the engine. Leading to bearing failures.

    Hello, you robbed my SC500 video, lol, no problem. I actually bought one new in 1973 while working for Yamaha Corp in Buena Park Ca. Rode it for three years without any problems. I did work with Yamaha to help stop the piston seizure problems. That’s me riding the bike in SoCal desert and starting it on a lift after restoring the bike.

      Most of it seems accurate from memory (I started riding and reading about bikes in 1972). There are a few boo-boos though.

    My 1st street bike was a Kawa 500 mach III I traded it for a 1972 750 Mach IV the 1st time I rode it I was surprised when the front wheel came up as soon as the tach hit 4,000 that was the last time it surprised me. In 2nd gear at 50 mph just rap the throttle and your wheeling funnest bike I ever owned

    No mention of the Honda VF750S, which had engine build problems, namely camshafts made from Cadbury flakes! Once Honka had worked out a fix, it became a good long-distance tourer. I had one for several years and it was the only bike that I never had to get off to rest my back/neck/arms/legs. Very comfortable and stable at speeds of over 130 mph. Private road officer, honest!

      Honda may have had a mis-step with the Hondamatic but the GL is still pretty bulletproof.

    I rode a 84 sportster once I detailed it for a friend of a friend. They had this delusional thought that it was worth 6K . And then they asked us if we wanted to buy it. I was like uh no thank you. It was one of the worst handling bikes I ever rode . You could barely ride it shift it . Just a horrible bike.

    The TL100S in your video had a normal shock absorber - it was the TL1000R model that had the problematic rotary rear damper.

      Those TL engines are so powerful, reliable, over engineered as many Suzuki's are.

      The S also had the rotary damper. I had one and for most normal riding it was fine. Push it harder and it did lose it's damping.

    ah... this 'list' is missing a couple of Harleys- as in the ShovelHead... the engine that almost buried Harley. Any AMF Harley would qualify for this list. and Yes, I own a Harley- in fact, 3 of them- two Evos and, oh yes, the 88 TC. Ride safe everybody.

      But the '84 mentioned was only 3 years after the buy back, and Harley was still struggling with the quality control it inherited from AMF.

    I Owned a HONDA RED ROCKET. Cr 250 ridiculous power band. Maybe 800 rpm of crazy power at 8ooo rpm. Quick no clutch shift. Monster bike. It was soo noisy. People 3 streets away complained if I fired it up while tuning. Best 1970s 250 moto X. Ever in my opinion. For its day.

      We love the tractor pull. Living in the woods in 1970, my buddy 1961 FLH pulled a 1 1/2 foot round by seven feet long, tree trunk, uphill to our campsite. It also pulled a BMW out of a tree and up the ravine.

    Damn that Kawi's headlight is ugly. Victory, Ariel and Paso weren't pretty either. Them Kawi triples were badass as advertised-leave them alone.

    That power band that the old two strokes were fun if you were experienced rider but only in 125 or 250cc anything bigger was hard to control i raced Suzuki RM 125 and 250 in the 70s and 80s i was faster then the guys with bigger bore bikes most couldn't control the power and i would fly past them i was at a track one day and the English speed way champ was there this is in Australia on the only big straight he went past .me on this 480 Yamaha motor cross bike at the end of the straight i flew past him on a 125 Suzuki and then i was so far in front by the time we got back to the big straight he was about 28 in age i was 14 i was on a RM125 A

    I had a Suzuki TM 400.
    Fast...but you couldn't turn it, or stop it!
    Great for dune riding, with a paddle tire though.

      I got to ride one once on a muddy Michigan MX track. The only way I could get it to go where I wanted was with my body position and throttle control. Steering seemed irrelevant, at least under those conditions

    Kawa 750. Had Plumbing pipe frame and swinging arms tubes short wheel base. When it came of choke. It could do an Olympic double back flip. No joke

      I still have my 907ie - MOST comfortable bike I've owned. I rode it new from MD to the OR coast and back in 2 weeks, 1992, one day 700 miles in total comfort. The Corbin seat made a huge difference. Prior bike was a 1987 750 Paso, one of the very first into the USA. Great bike except for that carb, which we changed to Dells. The 907 was a great leap fwd.

    Sportster motor is a great dependable durable air cooled motor.A simple 4 cam Vtwin with proven dependability this is my view and I currently ride a KTM 950 super moto and Honda NSA700.Sportster is a great old school air cooled motor,one of the best Harley motors!
