The Van Veen OCR 1000 was built near former East Germany and went bancrupt because they were way to expensive and like almost all Wankels had problems with the seals.
The official explanation was that Comotor seized production of the engines which was the base of the OCR engine.
A customer of mine, Andries Wielinga from Wommels in Friesland, bought all the remaining parts and rights and solved the sealing problem.
He still builds the OCR 1000, about 10 a year, and with a 2 year warranty.

I raced Mazda 13b rotary powered RX3 vehicles in the 70s and initially suffered many many engine failures..with the rotors Apex seals letting go..A Japanese company factory Engineer came out to see what was going on I remember and with a translator he explained to us we need to add CASTOR OIL to our race fuel to prolong the life of the seals with the best lubricant..The result was phenomenal after that..My engines would now last 3 full racing seasons or more without missing a beat..Heat and lubrication was the problem with those early engines.

I remember going to an open day at Nortons Shenstone factory back in the 80's an unusual experience in that some parts were very high tech (machining centres for the rotors and rotor housings) but some parts almost garden shed (wiring harness layout jig was a white board with nails for where connectors to other components joined), always wanted a Norton, was gutted when the company folded.

Enjoyed seeing the snowmobiles. Wish you could include more of them. I remember seeing a Skiroule RTW back in the early 70's. Orange colored sled instead of Skiroule's traditional green. Probably a Sachs engine, not sure. Very little info out there about them. Almost bought a Suzuki RE-5, but got a GT750 water buffalo instead.

Having had a tuned up P42 and owning a F1, man those bikes are like the best thing ever when you have the moly coating done, they last a lifetime after that.... and they shift hard 😎

I used for two years , in 77 the Sachs Wankel 502 "enduro" motorcycle and restored one bike in 2007. Only 12 pieces done. Had lot of troubles of overheating , but engine was powerfull...

As I recall what killed the rotary engine across the board was oil seal problems & exhaust emissions. I rode the Suzuki once. It went like a bomb, but the bike had other problems too, so wasn't a pleasant experience anyway.

If I recall correctly, what killed the Norton rotary, commercially at least was that RCW 588 had what they cutely called an 'extractor' exhaust - in other words, a 2T like expansion chamber. The road bike couldn't legally have an exhaust that loud, so the F1 road bikes didn't take off, screaming like a banshee, so owners couldn't have what Terry Rymer and the team had. Win on Sunday for sure, sales on Monday...not so much.

Ciao Goran, buona serata 👋.

Van Veen were a Dutch motorcycle manufacturer, in 1977 the OCR1000 was the most expensive motorcycle you could buy, it cost £10k here in the UK. I used to have a poster of a Van Veen with Blondie's Debbie Harry draped over the machine.

    Cordialement.

A snowmobile might be a good application. for a rotary engine if they had more power to and more longevity.
however I don't have any interest in a rotary engine.

Прекрасные двигатели! При должном уходе значительно превосходят всякие электрические! При продолжении разработок современных двигателей внутреннего сгорания про электромобили можно забыть!

Rotary engines are great for their size! Small,high-revving,producing plenty of power HOWEVER.......unless your a mechanically minded person who ENJOYS taking engine's apart every few thousand miles,to replace the rotor-tips on these things, then save your strength and ignore that these engines were ever a "good" design! ; >)

Los motores rotativos nunca fueron bueno
no tuvieron éxito en ningún tipo de vehículo en que fueron usados solo mazda tubo un pequeño éxito el los autos ,
Consumen mucho combustible tienen muchas fallas y corta vida útil
