It’s not the video you’ve been waiting for, but it’s the video I’ve got. Stay tuned for more on the prototype oiling solution, probably this or next week. Meanwhile, I’m back at Laguna with the same part I was testing at Thunderhill in the last track onboard. Rain means it’s not the most useful day for testing oiling performance, but we see no concerning drops here. There is a gradual drop at corkscrew, but that is due to low RPM, not starvation. Thanks for watching and will be planning to make a more detailed announcement about the oiling product soon!
I too was watching pressure drops:-) But I guess it is not relevant in wet where you just can't pull those Gs? Love you channel! I think this is the best place so far for good information about pressure drops topic and you also give me HOPE that this issue can be resolved or at least mitigated enough some day.
I had no idea there was a way to get your 86/BRZ onto Laguna Seca. That's awesome. Yes, seeing your oiling work doing some good is fantastic, but, but, LAGUNA!
Thanks for working hard on getting a fix for this. Noticed that at the corkscrew turn pression started to drop, and I would guess is becuase you were braking and not accelerating at all. Would be this considered normal? I have not bought my BRZ yet and your valuable findings have been holding my decision, but I know you are close to a solution that the manufacturer didnt want to work on. Thanks
It’s because the pump is driven by the crankshaft, so the flow is proportional to RPM and RPM was too low at that point to reach the maximum pressure allowed by the pressure relief valve. Basically over 4000 RPM, I expect the pressure to hit a ceiling of around 75-80 psi. This is still slightly variable depending on the oil temp. Lower than 4k RPM, the pressure will drop all the way down to around 15 psi at idle.
How do you have your camera mounted? I've got a track day coming up at Watkins Glen in April and I haven't quite figured out how I want to mount my GoPro.
I’m using the mount from Ansix Auto and I really like it. It connects to both headrest mount rods, so it’s more stable than those that only connect to one.
I’m using RaceRender to overlay data logged with a AiM Solo 2 DL. This is connected to the CAN-bus system on the car to read telemetry. CAN-bus can be accessed at the ASC (active sound control) module. There’s some more info on it here: github.com/timurrrr/ft86/blob/main/can_bus/gen2.md
Yeah, I don't think this is a very hard test given the low grip conditions, so I'll be continuing to test it and we're going to start testing on another car with a higher grip setup as well.

I was about to say, don't see any unusual pressure drops. That's great!
Thank you.
Thanks for the update. Highly appreciate it

Much appreciate the update, can’t wait for future vids regarding this oil subject
Babe wake up, new 900BRZ video just dropped.
i can't wait for the next video! Pressure didn't drop! Great!
criminally underrated channel, love seeing the oil pressure being stable! curious to see what changed
Thank you, will be sharing more soon!
Seems that you solved the oil press. Problem. Very nice 🎉🎉🎉. Congratulations
The oil pressure in right hand turns still seems solid in this video. Looks like whatever ya did is working great.

Yeah, on our regular rotation of local tracks here. Very cool to be able to drive on world-class tracks like Laguna and Sonoma.
You're just teasing us with that oil pressure trace now. 😅

We all know everyone's eyes are on that oil pressure number, hahaha
900BRZ subscribers only want one thing
@@900BRZ No way; fun watching you drive.. very well :) [I don't have a GR86. Still in a FR-S]
Man I sold my GR86 because of the oil starvation crap if you solved it then I will buy another one!
Steady steady! I always smile when voice command is activated. lol
“I’m sorry, I couldn’t hear that. Please try again”
I’ve actually called people while on the track, it’s really annoying. I’ve just learned to turn Bluetooth off as part of my track day ritual.
@@jrfish007 Haha oh man. I just stopped bringing my phone altogether.
@@900BRZ yeah, I still pretend this is cheap so I use my phone to gather telemetry (not telemetry on the car, just my driving style).

@@900BRZ Sold! Thanks for the information, that looks like an awesome mount. And, with standard shipping, ironically costs exactly $86.

the day this oil issue gets solved i can die in peace 😂
lol
So it means that I can finally put an order fior a BRZ?
Do it!
is that exhaust sound just from the GR catback?? it sounds pretty good
Yeah IRL it’s a little quiet at high RPM but with the mic on the bumper it sounds good haha
@@900BRZ ah ok, external mic. I assumed it was in cabin.
@@alexandram9477 Yeah external mic is a lot more interesting for these videos. In the cabin you get a lot of ASC and buffetting.
@@900BRZ Might as well just pipe that in to the car stereo realtime now, lol
@@michaelruddick2662 Would be better than the ASC!
I would like to say the lack of grip is helping the oil pressure situation, but that pressure gauge isn't moving at all, so that's very promising! 👍

It looks like it will hold a few more quarts.
What exhaust are you using?
It’s a GR Performance Exhaust with a lav mic on the rear bumper.
Aha! I have that same one on mine (not the mic).@@900BRZ
