Are you related to Matthew Lillard Matty?
Hey will fallout three come to PlayStation five
So here's my guess about Todd howard, he probably has zero plans about retiring, however it's possible that he might be stripped away via health issues so that could be something that could change, now the guy appears to be in pretty damn good health and he appears to keep in shape especially when he's in these interviews you can tell that the dude works out and tries to keep himself healthy not like the majority of his own staff who are probably balloons right now because they have to fix every little thing that is broken in the creation jank engine once again, fixing the issues in that engine would turn anyone into a fatty hell it turns most of us Gamers into fatties, I hate to admit but it's true, however my personal issue has to be with disability.
Todd is a used car salesman
2005-2012 was an epic time to be a teenage gamer! Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, Halo, Gears of War, God of War, Dragon Age, and so many other ICONIC gaming franchises!

Looks like someone needs a break from the mojave heat. Have a sarsaparilla.
Imagine at the Xbox showcase they play that iconic fallout 3 opening scene with the Ink Spots in the background completely remastered…
The best outcome
I doubt it. To completely remaster fallout 3, it would take at least three or two years for that
A remaster would be lame, basically have that on PC. A remake however..
@@OneTwoMarkagreed. Would need to be substantial improvements outside of simply upgrading graphics/textures (though that’d still be great).
Fallout 3 on series x is 4k / 60fps. PC even better obviously with the endless amount of mods. If you put 3 in the newest version of the creation engine I would flip the fuck out though
I wish Fallout had a book series. Nothing that over explores the universe (I don’t want it to be like Halo or Star Wars with dozens of books) but maybe like a trilogy set in one state that tells a story that spans decades where the effects of each story could be seen on the region.
Fallout becoming a brand like warhammer or halo could have no bad results whats so ever....
@@fish5671 oh shush. let people enjoy things.
@@fish5671 I did specify I don’t want it to become like Halo, I think having one trilogy of books for one region could be a fun way to explore an area that would never be showcased in a game or the TV show. I don’t want Bethesda/Xbox to start exploiting or over relying on the franchise and I appreciate Bethesdas restraint with their IP’s. As for fan reception/community toxicity I don’t think a singular book series would ignite the fan base more then any other new entry in the franchise.

Can't wait for the new 4k loading screens...
New Vegas remaster would be better..

I feel like Todd is going to try to hold out until Fallout 5 is out. Hit ES6 and F5 as a victory lap on the way out.
So in like 30 years?
Victory lap ? More like a walk of shame 😆 If Starfield was his big vision, then I fear for ES6 and FO5.

@@Kosh800 yeah he helped to the company to Microsoft for billions and made bank of starfield. You can hate all you want don’t change the facts
it only makes sense to have someone else make a new fallout game. Let Obsidian make the freaking game!
I think will since they are both under Microsoft. They don’t want to miss this opportunity.
Nobody at Obsidian rn made F:NV they mostly left, however current Obsidian made Outer Worlds and that was hot ass.
@@YP831I hear this argument quite a bit-that only the original creators can make certain types of games. But really, the culture at a company makes all the difference. Obsidian has consistently put out well-received games, so it’s not a stretch to think they could handle another Fallout game. Sure, there’s a risk it might not be great, but given their track record, I’m pretty hopeful. The other options aren’t great either: going with an unknown developer or waiting possibly over a decade for Bethesda to make another one.
Also I don't know if your comment about Outer Worlds being hot ass was compliment or an insult. I like looking at hot asses LOL.
An obsidian made fallout game, regardless whether or not its New Vegas 2 or something else, would be so exciting
Fallout 2 was made in a single years, and New Vegas in 18 months. As long as you mostly stick with existing tools and resources, it's perfectly possible to make a high-quality game relatively quickly.
Just look at the Yakuza series for that as well
We don't need mini maps and more shipbuilding in Starfield. We need space travel without loading screens. We need a grittier more unique universe with a whole hell of a lot more content in it. We need less PG-13 writing and more serious, grownup writing.
Bruh I just want a fallout 3 remake......... MAKE THAT HAPPEN TODD!!!!
That's probably what they're going to show off at the upcoming showcase this year, if I were a betting man, I'd put my money on that, especially since it's really the only easy Fallout content that they can put out to capitalize on the success of the show.
Doing fallout somewhere other than America is like Japan doing a movie where Godzilla is in Switzerland .
There is a huge mod for Fallout 4 set in London. It looks dope.
I would love a Godzilla movie set in Switzerland. No joke.

Thinking how long Fallout 5 is saddens me, im 47 now so will be 57-60 when it comes out. Im already slowing down on what i play so im not even sure i will be playing games by then.
Im glad todd is staying in the industry. I know opinions on fallout 4 are mixed, but you can tell alot of work went into that game. Same thing for starfield. I feel like the biggest issue lately for bethesda is that in 4 and starfield they made decisions early on in development and ended up putting too much time and resources into things that really became a detriment in the final release. But he learned from alot of fallout 4's mistakes for starfield and i think he will learn alot from starfields shortcomings for future games.
Yup i have a feeling the Elder scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 will set the new RPG standard in a few years especially if Microsoft gives them extra studios to work with. Microsoft already has 2 extra game studios working on Fallout 76 after the aquirement this could also hint that maybe Fallout 5 wont be so far off as microsoft might just give Bethesda help from Obsidian and inxile studios
Ye that’s exactly what I think too, I still definitely have hope for TES6
The fixed a lot of problems from FO4 in Starfield, and they encountered a new problems in Starfield, like new for the games industry, no one had made a game with that level of space exploration with that level of RPG, and turns out there are fundamental reasons why and I don’t think they’ll make those mistakes again
@@Cheesepuff8 yea, tes6 and fallout dont really have a reason to go for the same scale, witch imo is the biggest problem with starfield
I just wish they weren’t lazy with their finished products. I love Fallout 4, but the way they are handling the game is disgraceful
I think what's going with bethesda now is they probably lost a lot of their experienced developers and writers and now their workforce consist of new inexperienced workers.
Imagine if Todd retires. We might get a new engine….
I’m glad Todd is sticking around. I’ve always liked him. The guy was behind some of the best gaming memories of my teens.
We literally wouldn’t have Fallout today without him and the teams he’s helped build up. It’s easy to bag on him but the dude has done a lot of amazing work for decades.
I really hope there isn't a New Vegas 2. If Obsidian works on a new one, I hope it's a fresh, new experience.
That is how I read Obsidians modus operandi. They would not make a New Vegas direct sequel.
There was even that mention of interest in Fallout New Orleans a few years back by Obsidian people.

@3:00 All that plus RDR1, Halo Reach, L.A. Noire, Black Ops 1 just an immaculate era of gaming. My only serious complaint in this modern era is that games are slowly getting farther apart. A decade isn't an unexpected wait anymore, and it seems like it's only getting longer. It's what finally pushed me into PC gaming, if I only have one more GTA and MAYBE two Fallouts left in me before my toddler is graduating college I'm ever grateful for Nexus and the modding community.
The real golden Era of games. (Might be a hot take)

There is a castle skyrim phone game dropping soon. Its just like shelter but 3d with castles. Looks fun
Fallout 1 and 2 remakes make the most sense to me. They are easier to make than bigger FPS games, there is already TONS of content to already use, you have a built in fanbase for the originals, and you could release them on all platforms including Switch. Plus isometric games are a unique niche and you could start playing in the Diablo/Balders Gate 3 space.
PLUS it wouldn't eat into the success of Fallout 4 and 76.
And it would be faster to get to market.
I actually really hope they do that cause I’ve been kinda wanting to try the original Fallouts for awhile now…
@@nicwalker882 Just use the fan patches, Fallout 2 Restoration Project is pretty solid. The problem with remakes is that there's a good chance they're going to change a bunch of stuff, because the old Fallout games were pretty wild and you could do some spicy stuff.

Can you imagine how nuts it would be if they setup the current state of the Mojave in Season 2 of the show and announce a tie in game by Obsidian right after.
Please, I can only get so excited.
Now that's how you empty my wallet
I think new Vegas will be a focus point in season 2. With that said I also feel like both 3 and New Vegas are getting remastered. With that said I feel like fallout won't do a sequel of New Vegas since this franchise doesn't really revisit locations like that in games. However they could do Texas or a state in the south to lean into that western style of fallout and also tie it into the NCR and Legion. I could be wrong and New Vegas and any spin off could be the games to get sequels.
I’d rather Obsidian make a game in a new setting. I love the Mojave, but I love an expanding lore more!
@@lonefinch2127 I think if they do another fallout, they should do Texas

Obsidian is developing Avowed and Outer Worlds 2 at the moment. I don't see them taking on another fallout project until at-least one of those is out - the outer worlds in particular, as that project has many of the original Fallout 1/2/Vegas guys on it.
Hard to get excited about a Fallout game that will more than likely be 5-8 years away.

4 years between Fallout games with Besthesda and Obsidian/Tim Cain taking turns.. keeps both of them on their toes
I don't think the exploration in Starfield would be so bad if there was more variety among the encounter sites. It's kinda boring when you keep finding the exact same place over, and over, and over, and over.... You get the point. At times it feels like there is only about a few dozen such sites at most, and some are far more common than others.
Because I’m so sick of hearing this complaint, new points of interest are introduced each time you reach a certain point in the game. Quick question though, did you discover all of the landmarks on Earth?

Judging from the last near decade of Bethesda's output, I don't think Todd and team have figured that one out yet.
They just need to roll back the inane disaster the "next gen upgrade" is...
every time a franchise answers the mysterious part of itself it 1 losses something and 2 does it badly
This is why I think we will never get an answer to what exactly happened to the dwarves in TES, or go to Akavir.

damn, this reminds me of when fallout 4 got announced. such a good franchise
It would make sense if Bethesda would hand over fallout to a different studio to work on a new fallout game while their working on elder scrolls, maybe involve Tim Cain Josh Sawyer and Chris Avelone to work on it. Waiting 20 plus years for a new fallout game, and that's after elder scrolls get released is bs. Especially after the big hit of the show, they can't just let this franchise hang back while their working on the new elder scrolls game
I have no interest in Fallout going to other countries. There's plenty enough space here in the US that they can explore, and Americana is cool.
Mainline Fallout games should be set in America but I’d like to see spin offs like New Vegas set elsewhere in the world but I don’t see that happening at all.

The amount of good content we got between Morrowind and Fallout 4 was amazing. Can we get back to a release schedule like that now that the studio is much bigger and has far more rescources ?

FALLOUT 3 to FALLOUT 4 was quite the run
At this point there is no doubt that there are better people for the job going forward than Todd. Certainly there are many worse people, but I'm not convinced that he's the best anymore. Bethesda needs some new blood, some fresh ideas.
They can't even update Fallout 4 without the shit hitting the fan, so quit dreaming about Fallout 5.
Honestly 76' and Starfield were a miss to me. But as a Fallout fan, I believe he can be redeemed. So I want Todd to stay.
I’m still waiting for a Starfield esque leak for ES6
Given the current track record since the FO4 launch in 2015, its baffling to me how everyone is still high on hopium for BGS. We literally just got an absolutely terrible "Next Gen Update" for FO4 and everyone can tell it was a rush job just to get something out there, after fans waited for it for almost 18months. And BGS STILL REFUSES to fix some of the core bugs in the game which is just beyond baffling. It's taken 6years of ADDITIONAL development before we can finally say FO76 is good and Starfield may very likely retain some of its core issues for the life of that game. And yet, here we are, micro-analyzing every Todd Howard interview to play the "what-if" game because Todd said "a thing" and "this other thing".
I'll happily eat my words later but I don't expect to see ES6 until 2030 and FO5 until 2036 AND I highly highly doubt either game will be good at launch. It's much more likely both will need YEARS of additional development work, improvements, add-ons, bug fixes, etc... before we can call them good games. BGS may have a roadmap for Fallout but I highly doubt that includes anything substantial outside of FO5.
Based as fuck, people need to get their expectations straight. Todd says one word and all the sudden everyone wants to pray and gets excited for FO3/NV remasters or new content that isn't even thought about by BGS right now.
I’m sure you’re fun at parties
One show and people have completely forgotten about Elder Scrolls 6, smh
i wish he talked a bit more about ES:VI in that interview. I can't wait until we finally start seeing the news for that ramp up
Remember the comic that was done with the launch of FNV? It frustrates me that Fallout hasn't been explored in full-length comics. There's tons of interesting characters and events to explore that the player doesn't/wasn't involved with.
Personally, I'd like to see Todd Howard retire - he had some good years in him, made some fun games... but that he is taking 15+ years to put out the next games in their top two franchises and the fact that he doesn't seem to see any problem with that just says that its probably time for him to move on and retire.
Personally I liked Todd Howard's answer about Starfield's exploration
I also like that he acknowledged other people wanted more of a Fallout or Skyrim experience from it, while also maintaining that he wanted it to be a bigger scope scifi title. I think one of the biggest problems with Starfield is actually that people go into it expecting just Skyrim or Fallout in space, which Bethesda partially caused that perception.
I have 0 issue with it having every planet, and procedural generation. I think they should have marketed the game differently, I'm glad they didn't lock it to one planet only personally, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. Clearly they wanted to differentiate it as its own IP
Anyway I just think his answer about exploration was pretty honest from a development perspective, it explains why they went that direction. I hope the new methods of travel mentioned in the roadmap include better space travel
Wait to play starfield same way waited to play cyberpunk 2077, eleden ring, etc. Once the updates come out and DLC comes out. Best way to play.

They can keep the series "Americana" and still explore beyond the USA. A game set in China for example could start in a city made up of the descendants of the American forces who had invaded the Chinese mainland before the bombs dropped. The city would be as American as any location on the US mainland, but then something happens which forces the player to leave the safety of the city and explore the Chinese Wasteland.
Another example could be a location set in the US, but feature someone from another country coming to the USA and us learning about the rest of the world through them. There are already characters in the game who do that, but they could go even bigger. I have an idea for a post-war British faction taking the remains of an old civilian ocean liner, like the Queen Mary 2, and converting it into an aircraft carrier which they use to sail to the USA. Imagine looking out into the ocean and seeing a massive warship pulling up and deploying forces.
Basically if Howard isn't interested in going to another country, don't be afraid to bring that other country to America.
