  • Fallout TV is very bad, it's ok to like bad things. Not a full breakdown, cut a lot of stuff from the script for time and flow.
    Episode 4, timestamp 6:30. Lucy says her Mom died in 2277 during the plague, that's not a date the vault can lie about, other people in the vault would know she was gone. That is rock solid proof that Shady Sands was nuked before the events of New Vegas. That means my charitable timeline assuming Shady Sands was nuked AFTER New Vegas was wrong, so the lore damage is worse than I claimed. Credit to @SafeLlama24 for finding that clip
    6:30 I said New Vegas was in 2288, it's actually 2282, my script says 2282, and 1 minute later I refer to it as 2282. Didn't catch that in editing somehow.
    Stay hydrated.

Putting them in the show or a movie and having them work the same way as in a videogame would look silly as well.

    The Bounty on Wilzig is also a Plothole. Who put it on him? The Brotherhood had an exact description of the Guy, even the Dog and the stolen Technology was 100% acurate information. The only Factions who knew all this exact information are Moldevars Remnants and the Enclave. Moldevar didn't need to put a Bounty on a Guys head that's on his way to her anyway. So there is just one option left: The Enclave. My Issue with this is that a secret Organisation like the Enclave wouldn't put Bounties on valuable Researchers. Remember: This Guy knows where their Base is and other secret stuff that would compromise them. If a Faction, like the Brotherhood for example, get their hands on this Guy all the secrets would be open to them. Everyone hates the Enclave because of their Past. “The west coast factions were stomped on to allow the BOS to invade another wasteland”
    Todd’s hard on for the BOS strikes again. Can Todd just come clean and make a game or series purely focusing on the BOS? Unceremoniously killing off the NCR just so the BOS can be the big bad faction again is a load of bullshit. It’s all gloss until you dig in deep and realize how the BOS is full of holes as a faction because there is no way to explain their continuously growing strength. At least Arthur Maxson being able to unite the Brotherhood of Steel and allow outsiders to join is a sufficient explanation for how their numbers grew significantly compared to how obscure they were in DC pre-unification of chapters and most especially compared to the BOS in the west coast, but it still would not explain their growing technological might. The NCR was at least understandable because the residents of Vault 15 actually tinkered with technology. So unless Bethesda comes out clean and just has the Brotherhood be a self-sufficient city-state full of techno monks who think they should horde all technology to safeguard humanity, then it would at the very least put me at peace as to why we are seeing all this stompage from the BOS.

That braindead argument was already pushed back on by Tim Cain himself (and anyone capable of critical thought while we're at it). Nearly every bit of discourse around this show has come from a subset of gamers who are simply too mad to be capable of reading. It's completely unserious

If there's no date for the nuke dropping after the fall of Shady Sands, it can be assumed that arrow is pointing to the nuke dropping in 2277 being the fall of Shady Sands itself. Regardless, there are plenty of other issues with the show. Biggest ones for me being tha it felt like one of those 2010s parody movies like Disaster Movie or Superhero movie that is making fun of the thing it's based on rather than respecting it and trying to do a faithful adaptation, plus the fact that Bethesda and fans were swearing this was simultaneously canon and faithful to the games, but you should shut up and turn your brain off and ignore any changes to the lore to just have fun and enjoy the show.

      It feels like the show was vague on when Lucy's mom's death and how long ago Shady Sands was nuked. The chalkboard was consistent on its dating until the end when it says the fall of Shady Sands and has a date and then has an arrow pointing at a nuke. We have the date for when the city fell but don't have the date when it was nuked. If the city fell from population decline or crop failure or something else, the city might have been able to climb out of it, and it would be another footnote in its cities history. But they don't have a date for something that pales in comparison to the fall of the city. It's like having a date of something bad happening in Pompeii and next to that date with an arrow pointing to it, there's an image of a volcano exploding. I think who ever drawn the chalkboard messed up and "the fall of Shady Sands" was supposed to sound more dramatic than the nuking of Shady Sands. Or they had the foresight in drawing it like the way they did to make it vague as possible (seeing how the show goes I think it's unlikely). Rose "died in blight" 2277 (when she took children and went out, likely 2276-77) and Lucy flashback is from that. Not long after (before end of 2277) after kids were back in, Rose stayed out ("died"), and 5yrs after all that Shady got nuked (by someone). Also Lucy said that up till she was 6yo, she believed that Vault light was Sun, and only after mom gone (2277), she realized it was mom who "made it feel real"..
    Moldaver keeps her location secret (some agencies have bounty on her), she can NOT take high profile target as Wilzig directly.
    Knight Titus had Tempered Lining armor (mentioned ep) so no weak spot to hit.
    Lucy took Wilzig's head same day, then that night she took a rest, while Ghoul started search from Filly, so she didn't have that much "head start".
    Enclave base from wich Wilzig escaped is in NY (Brooklyn Army Terminal), so if that is the location, instead just filmed there, he came from far, also as high value target, will not go directly to the place, instead will "wander around" trying to cover his tracks, or arrived somewhat early in the area, waiting for "deliver schedule". And since he himself was going to Moldaver, likely them two had some cooperation. Scene next to brear cave where he changed from "doctors coat" to jacket, is cronologically before he approached Lucy (she lit a fire during night, and he wore jacket), so when Titus and Max find "doctor's coat, even if scenes right one after another, actually couple or few days time difference.

    • @masterficus
      @masterficus  25 дней назад +2

      So Rose stayed in Shady Sands 5yrs after her kids got kidnapped and didn't try to save them?
      Moldaver has a bounty on her so she can't meet Wilzig, but Wilzig has a bounty on him so Moldaver sends him to a settlement full of criminals and bounty hunters? They could've met at the entrance to Vault 33
      So Titus was the only BOS with tempered lining, and after the ghoul tried and failed to one shot it he was so sure it would work on the other BOS knights that he monologued about it.
      Lucy passed the donut shop during the day, the next day the ghoul passed the donut shop, so lucy had a 1 day head start(lol, HEAD start)
      I had never considered enclave scientist traveled across the entire country by himself, with a dog, no gun, and a briefcase. If that is true then that scene is so much worse than I ever suggested.
      The order of events between lucy meeting and bear cave doesn't change the insane odds of those meetings.

      @@masterficus Yes, but Lucy took rest for the night, that is when Ghoul caught up with her. It doesn't even matter which night (same day night, or next day night) cause ghoul was shown losing day in Filly (presumably) and Lucy was shown Losing night in "desert". Thadeus was slow with crashed foot and a heavy bag. Moldaver has her own issues. Wilizig is being tracked by bounty hunters, taking him directly would be foolish, thus she used middlemen. Filly is known local hub (five BoS knight took of from Wendover Army airbase in nort west Utah, each to its own direction, Titus sent west to California ordered to search Filly first as stated in ep 2, means that Filly has importance there), people you need are there, it is a risk, as you said, that explains why he was "so random" there. He was avoiding getting caught there by the wrong people. And yes, Wilzig life in that Enclave base, and trip to California can be TV show of its own, with multiple seasons (if filming location of base is "the location) so do not expect to have Wilzig spin off inside of The Fallout. We will maybe get some few flashback at best. Some Knights have Tempered Lining. In the observstory one out of three could not be taken down by AP ammo, thus Ghould blew his helmet portion up with grenade. Yeah it would seem that Rose, decided that outside is more important than going back in with kids (at lest she knew they are safe, if nothing else). I mean that "great plague" in 2277 in Vault 33 "when people had to quarenteen", thus couldn't grow crops, so people starved, including her mother", while father "fropped to 128 pounds", must be when Rose was proclaimed dead by Hank, Betty and other 31s in 33. 🤷 Not sure, but it would seem so.

      Lucy is shown to be walking during the day, which means after she woke up she started walking, it isn't until the middle of that day that the ghoul passed the donut shop that Lucy passed the previous day.
      Thadeus walked on a crushed foot with a heavy bag (which is a problem by itself) for days with no idea on where to go. It wasn't until after Lucy and Max leave vault 4 that Thadeus decides to go to the radio tower.
      Is taking Wilzig more foolish than letting him travel alone to a "hub" of bounty hunters and criminals? If Moldover already has a bounty on her head then she's already prepared to defend herself from bounty hunters, meeting Wilzig directly will minimize the number of people that know about him. He's carrying Moldovers lifes work.
      So the ghoul could've killed Max with just a grenade but didn't. The ghoul had two ways to one-shot power armor.
      Rose left the vault with her kids because she didn't trust Hank anymore. To let Hank take them back without going after them contradicts why she took them away in the first place.
      EDIT: btw I just noticed you combined your responses to keep the conversation in one place, I appreciate that. Thank you

      @@masterficus Wilzig obviously planned an escape (that is why he put the thing in his head), circumstances weren't shown, but obviously things were planned. He only had to escape somewhat (few days maybe) before scedule due to what happened. Ghoul possibly didn't have grenades with him in Filly. Day of shoot out in Filly, Lucy pushed, went to satellite, took head and that evening took a rest for night, in the mean time, Ghould lost that afternoon in Filly collecting clues around and from those he killed (that is how he got a letter, Roofus and Tommy stuff), and that evening he pushed out, so yeah, Lucy's advsntage was gone. Moldaver faction is not good with some other factions (thus they have bounty on her), she hides her location, she can not ditectly participate in high profile/attention exchanges with Wilzig (I already explained that, not gonna repeat myself), she can only hope that she can cover her tracks, and try take him indirectly without exposing hersel.

    I don’t really know how people are getting triggered by this. They’re all fair criticisms. Bethesda is doing the same thing they’ve been doing for years, re using shitty storylines and copy pasting them as new. I thought that was like common sense 5 years ago, but I guess everyone is so used to the bare minimum from Bethesda the fact this wasn’t a complete dumpster fire makes everyone be like “OMG this is the most fantastic show, how can you hate it?” If you like the show, cool, but you can’t ignore the glaring issues with lore and general plot holes. Plus the overall acting and portrayal of factions. This is literally the same formula we’ve been getting: person X is born in a vault, bad thing ensues to a person related to person X, you leave in search of them. You run into the BOS and learn an Enclave like faction is doing something bad. You learn something new about the person who left the vault, then defeat Enclave like faction saving the wasteland. Congratulations on playing fallout 3, 4, and now this show with vault tech being the new institute/enclave.

    "the dog looks 2-3 years old"
    Bro, that dog is like... less than 6 months old when it's shown as a puppy. Most dogs are generally like 95% grown at about a year old, and spend the next year "filling out" that last 5%. After 2 years dogs aren't considered puppies anymore.

    • @masterficus
      @masterficus  25 дней назад

      I could've been more clear, I meant the dog looks 2-3 years old during the main plot as a way to estimate when it was born and the scientist took it, telling us how long he kept it hidden behind a wall.

    5:20 I will say that it would not be out of the realm of possibility for cars to be in that scene. The consensus of EMPs from nuclear detonations affecting cars is pretty much just "it may affect some but not all cars even modern ones as the circuits are too short to be affected."
    One of my favorite books was One Second After that had to do with a man and his family surviving in a post apocalyptic world after a severe EMP attack with all cars and advanced electronics not working. But the premise has been thoroughly debunked.

    • @billjacobs521
      @billjacobs521 Месяц назад

      But, if we want to get into the weeds, it was established in New Vegas, specifically the Honest Hearts DLC, that the cars of the day WERE affected by EMP. Keep in mind that all of their cars were nuclear fusion powered by this point, as petroleum was exceedingly rare, so who knows what the internal wiring was like?

      @billjacobs521 Fair enough. I had forgotten that detail and if they established that as canon within the lore of the games then cool. Ill resend that. I just remember around that time is when that stuff kept being stated and not too long after, a few years or so, more research became popularized debunking it. Used to theyd say modern cars would go dead at an emp but cars made in the 90s and back would be fine. That study wound up theorizing even modern cars would be fine

    For the bethesda NPCs you wont get any writing from bethesda that could even come close the original games or new vegas. I still liked the show tho, but actually listen to the criticisms because they are actually fair, instead of blindly hating. Imagine hating on behalf of a game studio that has churned out abominations like Starfield and Fallout 76 as of recent, disregards and retcons established lore in Fallout and expects you to consoom no matter what slop they deliver. Did you all suddenly forget the innumerable issues with Bethesda?
