    The Fallout show falls into the same pattern of modern film making. Multiple lead characters. Constant flashbacks and back stories. The only thing they grasp is surface level iconography and references with no deeper understanding of the established lore. Ignoring said established lore to the point of contradictions. Breaking the old lore. The Fallout show should have had only one central character and their perspective of the wasteland. Supporting characters that could become companions or are essential to the protagonist. Antagonists could have multiple minor characters with their own goals as obstacles to the protagonist. The main villian should only be introduced through rumors. The protagonist finding only what clues about he, she, or them through their journeys. Such as finding the aftermath of a slaughtered town. Something that would happen in the Fallout Universe. No flashbacks to the prewar America. My own take on a Fallout show would be the protagonist waking up alone in a medical center. Crumbling out of an auto-doc. He has no idea how he got there. He doesn't know his name. There is no one around. The entire first episode would be him venturing out to explore his surroundings. Gathering what supplies he could find. Clothing, weapons, ammunition, food, and medicine. There's not much but at least he has something. Exploring the facility he thinks it's some kind of bunker. He is attacked by mutant rats and rad roaches. The facility seems to be on auxiliary power. All of this is meant to inform the audience to what is necessary to survive in Fallout. The exploration, scavaging, and combat. Clues to his past and the people who lived inside this bunker complex. Hacking computers and lock picking. The mystery to why he knows how to do everything he does but he can't remember his past or his name. But he has to escape. Or else this bunker will be his tomb. His story is about discovering who he is as his initial motivation. The main plot and threat emerges after he escapes the Vault and has gone several crazy adventures.

    One of the biggest issues with this show is just hell bent the creators and Bethesda are on pretending this is canon. Had they said it's a spin off series that is separate from the games, it would have solved so many problems. But, no. They intend to die on this hill, trying to lie to everyone that this show does not retcon anything. At this point it's absolutely ridiculous how many people have fallen for it, when we have hard evidence it's a lie. The sad part is that they will not back down. They have gone so far with this farce, they can only move forward, pretending the criticism or retcons didn't happen.

    • @masterficus
      @masterficus Месяц назад

      This is the second comment I've seen saying this and now I'm genuinely curious, back in the Black Ops/ BF3 days it was a given that these two franchises were competitors, why do you say they're not? Again, not trying to be mean, genuinely curious.

    • @trainknut
      @trainknut Месяц назад

      @@masterficus Because Battlefield 1942 came out in 2002 and Call of Duty came out in 2003. Prior to Battlefield 3 Battlefield never really made many attempts to "compete" with Call of Duty because the two games were entirely different experiences. It would be the same as Halo trying to compete with Call of Duty, anything they'd do try and be "like" Call of Duty would feel cheap and rehashed, and wouldn't fit with the gameplay. Falling short of the standard COD set and disappointing the fans who didn't _want_ another Call of Duty experience at the same time. (Foreshadowing) Call of Duty had tight maps, short TTK, minimal engagement ranges, and generally did their best to make sure everyone felt like a one man army. Battlefield by contrast is exactly the opposite, big maps, long TTK, maximum engagement ranges, and a balancing system specifically designed to _disempower_ the individual player and incentivize teamwork through gameplay. You didn't have a loadout of your favourite gadgets, you had a role within a squad, and that squad had a role within the team. Sure you could change your weapons and unlock different gadgets but at the end of the day if you picked Engineer you were always gonna be an Engineer. If you want the RPG you're gonna need to switch to smaller guns and also take a repair tool, sorry, that's just how the classes work... Leave the one man army shit to Call of Duty. This is literally how we looked at it back then. If you wanted total freedom to pick any weapon for any class, you were probably just a COD geek who couldn't turn off the twitch shooter brain. And then Battlefield 4 came out, they made it so the classes barely mattered anymore, they caved to the lowest common denominator, and here we are... Battlefield... the elder franchise, the franchise that Call of Duty was originally trying to BE... reduced to "A Call of Duty competitor" Show us a little respect bro, we weren't just another series trying to ride the success of Call of Duty... we were part of the REASON Call of Duty succeeded. Battlefield had 32 v 32 multiplayer before COD or Halo CE even existed... I feel like a lot of people forget how insane of an achievement this was in 2001. Most computers were still using dial up back then, the idea of playing an FPS match with random strangers on the other side of the planet seemed like a thing of the future to the gamers of the 90s. Until BF1942 proved you could do it with SIXTY people at once... Then everything changed after that. Not to mention BF2 beat COD4 to the "modern warfare" craze by a whole 2 years. A lot of people forget Battlefield 3 was the ELEVENTH Battlefield game... Battlefield already had a long and storied history as a franchise _before_ it started competing with COD directly.

    • @masterficus
      @masterficus Месяц назад

      @@trainknut Ok I see what you're saying now, I took this from the perspective of a kid that only had the money for one shooter a year, so choosing COD/BF/Halo made them all appear to be direct competitors, but by that same logic Animal Crossing could be called a Doom competitor which doesn't track. COD and BF are different subgenres trying to achieve different experiences and while there's some overlap the target audience isn't the same, therefore not a direct competitor. I still think calling BF a COD competitor is technically true due to the portion of the audience that overlaps, but is an overgeneralization and probably misleading.

    Eagerly awaiting a single review of this show that articulates its flaws without overemphasizing Moldaver being queer and/or a communist. A character being either of these things is not itself a problem; why does it come up in *every single video.*

    • @masterficus
      @masterficus Месяц назад

      Because it's vital to the plot that she leads a communist movement in a setting where communists are being ostracized and are in direct conflict with Vault Tek, ignoring that is ignoring a major part of the show. Also I don't think I overemphasized it, I put up the quotes, said it's a bit gray, and moved on. I don't know if she's queer, if she's gay or good friends it doesn't affect the plot so I didn't talk about it.

    Overall, I think that the visuals of the show were good, and this is why it was a success. As an analogy, think of Boba Fett. In the original Star Wars movies, Boba Fett had 4 lines of dialog and maybe appeared for 6 minutes in all three movies. However, because he looked cool, people loved him. Unfortunately, aesthetics play a major role in people's opinion.

    • @masterficus
      @masterficus 2 месяца назад

      You didn't miss it, I didn't include it, mostly out of spite honestly. I don't consider that ending as anything but an interesting "what if" and further insight on the tribe, due to Jason finding his brother, working with Sam, and keeping some distance from the tribe, Citras conditioning of Jason was weakened to the point that I don't see killing his friends as a realistic option. Since this was a character study sort of thing I didn't want to include it since it doesn't fit with what the character was going through and would just confuse things.
