  • Following the Fallout TV show's positive reception, 76 is seeing a massive resurgence. As someone who has been returning to the game for every major update since its release, I'm here to deliver an all encompassing review accounting not just for the base game but all of the major shifts, additions, and updates the game has seen.

It's important to understand the type of gameplay 76 offers. Potential players who expect a more traditional RPG will be turned off by the online features which will break immersion. But interested players can choose to play the campaign solo and never join a team or public events. Put their focus on upgrading and tweaking character builds, get creative with camp building, stock your camps vending maching with items to sell other players, event hop to get resources to roll legendary weapons, go find collectables to get the entire set to display for others, or many other activities. Appalachia is your sandbox go find your fun.

The only thing that really upsets me is the weapon bullets delay, when we shoot a weapon we can see the bullets in like a bit yellow animation which makes looks like they go slower, and the enemies always like a delay to getting hit and then falling down. When i play fallout 4 the combat and the shooting is smooth fast and accurate. I didn't notice this much on fallout 76 with pistols but with automatic rifles it looks and feels so weird. I’ll say this new update actually looks to be interesting ( for what it is). But as a Fallout fan Fallout 76 will never be what most Fallout fans are looking for, it’ll never scratch that itch. We want a single player Fallout game with real choice and consequences that actually impact the Wasteland. I say this as someone who has played all of the Fallout games, including F76. I’ve got a level 490 character in F76, but I haven’t played the game in over a year and a half now. Really the only reason I even played F76 was because I’m such a big fan of Fallout and it’s the only new Fallout experience we’ve got in close to a decade.

@PageRage92 i doubt that, i know it's greatly improved but i'm pretty sure i would have been one of the people that enjoyed it at launch just like i was one of the people that enjoyed Cyberpunk at launch. Theres a large very dedicated base of players that have been playing and celebrating this game for years. If you talk to them youl find it was really fj**ed up in the beginning but theyve always loved the game. They have these massive beautiful and creative camps that they've devoted hours to building. I think they knew something that most people didn't, i dont think they were wrong i think WE were. One of thw first things i noticed is how many barriers a new player has to overcome before the game opens up, its fun to see your character become more powerful in mea ingful ways but that is only appealing to a certain type of player. i guarantee most people played it for ten minutes and decided it was trash and moved on. I'm sure the game runs far better and it's content is easier to access but like cyberpunk the core of what it is has always existed.
I've watched RUclips negativity algorithms ruin so many great games in the last few years. I dont trust people who's monetary incentivization is to validate the prevailing opinions of heard mentalities. Particularly when the prevailing opinions are from a small subsection of consumers so prone to impatience, superficiality, negatvity, entitlement and tribalism.
I dont watch corporate news for political opinions for the same reason. When I was younger I used to believe what was generally believed to be true was generally true. As I've gotten older it's occurred to me that what is genuinely believed to be true is generally lacking any nuance amd is more often then not incorrect.

Thanks for revisiting this game! I’m a newcomer to Bethesda games and the show + Starfield are what finally got me into these games (despite being a big Xbox fan during 360 days yet not playing Skyrim). Picked this game up for “free” via a free trial of Amazon Prime and codes that work for both the PC and Xbox versions. Definitely wanted to try this after picking up the classics (1 & 2) and 3 + New Vegas and 4.

So just to be clear, stash limit is no longer a thing or are the items just lighter? Great video buddy, thanks! :D

My problem with expeditions, is that I have built up, surprise surprise, a very stealthy sniper character. Big damage but only if unseen. Several times each expeditions is like an auto detection and turns into 100 deaths and hundreds of rounds used

Unrelated to the video, but the hair is looking fire Matty. Did you use any specific hair product before recording this?

I’ve been doing a rosemary oil treatment to it before I shower most days. I stopped shampooing my hair every shower too and started applying my conditioner differently. Wild difference now although I think it’s too long to actually see.

You mentioned the stash limit not being a problem anymore. One of my peeves about 76 was that I couldn't hoard like you could in literally every other game without a subscription. I think you might underestimate how much some of us hoard, (Not even weapons or armor just pure scrap) but I'm happy to be proven wrong. I know I started a new game a few years ago and it was still a problem. I'd love to jump back in though.

As someone whos only completed 4 multiple times and hasnt played nv or 3 for more than 12 hours 76 is a fun game. It took me at least 3 tries over the years to actually get into it but i did. Its got its differences from 4 but it has more similarities. Base building is more fun to me since i can have my friends come over. The quest pings the map and carry weight are really the only things i have to complain about.

Would playing the main quest line just on its own be worth for just 1 playthrough? Can I avoid all the online stuff?

Yes you can play this by yourself, but you will find yourself enjoying visiting other players camps, checking out what they have for sale and trading. I thought I wouldn't like the online aspect as well but it's actually my favorite part about it now

If you don't mind reading/holotapes, the original stories from before Wasteland are great. The story of Rose and her boyfriend David. The flood of Charleston, still haunts me. Sam Blackwell, Raleigh Clay. Harper's Ferry location, my favorite. The current main story has you investigating the origination of The Scorched, people who got infected and do "freeze" eventually. The Overseer wants to find a vaccine to stop it. Then there is the treasure story. Is it real? Lots of side stories. Great stuff.

That was a solid take dude. Great video! I agree with all of that. I will say, i started playing again and ive been enjoying it muuuuch more now than in the past. Things dont feel as spongy when it comes to damage and it isnt a constant grind for ammo like it was. I do think theyve made kt a little too easy but, that's what the survival servers are for.

Fyi for any new players thinking of starting this game with a friend. Progress is not shared and there is no actual co op for quests. For example, during quests only the host will see the objectives, your co op partner will see the enemies but will have no context or input on whats happening. Essentially co op is for free roam, public events, and open world exploration. Any questing is essentially solo.

    • @Brettbdm4
      @Brettbdm4 Месяц назад

      **edit**
Expeditions are the exception for co op questing, but for new players expecting a more traditional co op experience ex).Destiny,Borderlands, it might take a while until you get to the point where Expeditions are worth doing
