If Florida wasn’t such a marathon distance away from Oregon, I would certainly love to visit some of the places you have visited there! Great video John!
It appears you must drive to restaurants if camping. They are 6 miles away. And can you rent kayaks at the campground or do you have to drive there as well? Thanks for the great video.
You are correct in that you would have to drive into Dunnellon for restaurants. I’m fairly certain you can rent kayaks at the ranger station at the campground. Thanks!
There are no dispersed camping options available that I am aware of. You may want to search for dispersed camping near Dunnellon Florida to see if there are other options. Thanks!
Rainbow Springs usually isn't a high black bear area. As far as alligators, just be aware near any waterways in Florida. That said, I have seen two alligators in all my travels at state parks over five years. One at Big Lagoon State Park near Pensacola and one at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in a pond. Thanks!
I would suggest that the Park Service or the Marion County Sheriff's department start patrolling the entrance on highway 41 before someone or some family is killed due to parking and loriting on the shoulder of the road and also parking in the middle of the highway while trying to enter thru the exit, absolutely crazy and dangerous on summer weekends 😢

Great video John!
Thanks Tim!
Going there next week. First time
It should be amazing this time of year. Enjoy!
Great video! Can you bring your own regular tube (like a River Run Inflatable) or do you have to rent one?
I’m fairly certain you can bring your own, but here is the number to the ranger station to inquire: +1 (352) 465-8550

Great review, thanks! What is the best way to make reservations for camping there?
There is only one way I know to make a reservation: reserve.floridastateparks.org/Web/
@@JohnMarucci great! I appreciate the answer.
Do they allow dispersed camping at the Rainbow State Park or are there any boondocking sites nearby?

I'm going tent camping in October. This maybe a stupid question but should I be worried about bear and alligators??

Very hard to get reservation for an RV. Months in advance.
Yep, 11 month booking window is no joke. Thanks!
My Mother was born in Dunnelon. Family name was Turner.
It is a nice place, especially in winter. Thanks!
