I had this problem with my 2005 territory many years ago. Apparently, the transmission cooler line ruptured inside the radiator... Ford flushed it a few times & said it was OK. I traded it in a month after that. Your videos are very interesting, keep them coming thxs.
Great content, I'm certainly looking forward to the second part. I think I should definitely do a service on my BF Ghia, and buy one of those metal pans with the bung in it to drain fluid for sure.
@@keyboardwarrior3241 The second part is good 😂 Do it mate, I’ve just serviced my Fairmont and put an external cooler on. I’d been putting it off for ages other thinking that it was going to be a hard job but it was really easy to do, and with a nice big drip tray there was no mess either.
@@keyboardwarrior3241 Tbh I haven’t driven it enough to tell, I took it for a spin down the road and took it pretty easy but to me even that felt smoother. I’ll be using it for work tomorrow so we’ll see. 🤞🏼
Good luck mate. I'll never understand why ford put the tranny fluid through the radiator to cool it. Yes a cooler is a great addition. When you see the 'Milkshake' it makes one think "Shit!", I wish I had a manual gearbox". Soldier on Bloke.👍.
It’s a shame about the trans milkshake! Such a nice colour that’s for sure gotta hope for the best and plan for the worst! It’s a good that all my xr6s are service! Which is the key to keeping to going! But yeah it’s a tough one.
@@FordFalconman-oc7od You’re right mate! It’s not hard to service and maintain these cars. If the cooling system was maintained the milkshake might not have even happened in the first place. There’s still hope for this one yet, so far so good.
Yeah definitely when I first brought my silver Xr6 Aggressor one of the first questions I asked was has gearbox had a service which he recon was done! but when we sent it in the oil was a bit overdue for one! But yeah unfortunately can’t really save them all.
Hopefully it all works out for ya mate I hope my dad’s Fairlane doesn’t end up doing this. Because it’s the only Ford Sedan with the 6speed automatic. Everything else is a 4speed or a 5speed
My XR6 is only a 4 spd but I still fitted a radiator bypass cooler just for the hell of it
That’s awesome mate, just as important even if it is a 4spd. Better to be safe than sorry that’s for sure.

@@rubigor Unfortunately it’s a very common issue with these cars. Thanks for the feedback mate, much appreciated 🍻

@Jeenzy79 Awesome, did the car feel like it drove better afterwards?

@@garrymcgaw4745 Cheers mate! You’re not wrong there, a manual would eliminate this problem all together.
Wow good luck on this one mate you never know

Should definitely look at getting an external cooler for your dad’s Fairlane mate. Zero chance of it ever milkshaking then.
