Saving A XR6 From Being A Parts Car. Vehicle Inspection IT PASSED!!!
Today the Breeze XR6 finally passed it's vehicle inspection. It now has plates and is registered. This car was purchased originally to be a parts car but knowing that the MK2.5 BF's aren't exactly common, especially in the colour Breeze I made the decision to try to revive it and bring it back to life.

So after not working on any cars over the Christmas and New Year period like I had planned to, I finally got some new brakes fitting to the Breeze XR6. In just a few days the car is booked in for it's first inspection to get it registered and back on the road. Fingers crossed there's not too much needing to be done. Congrats mate! Looking good! Just wondering how is the tranny going? Shifting OK? Another very important thing to note, considering that you are buying and selling, getting a unregistered vehicle permit (UVP), that only covers you for TAC for any accidents and NOT the car. For example, if it's your fault and you hit someone, the vehicle is NOT insured. I get insurance on the car as unregistered but with intending to get registered and they insure the car. As you have 2 weeks to pay the premium, you use that time to drive back and forth until its registered. Then you let the time lapse and don't pay. Covers you just in case you have an accident which I hope you never have. Cheers

    • @Jeenzy79
      @Jeenzy79 11 дней назад

      Hey mate, I’ll be using the wiring harness I bought so the fog lights will actually be run through a relay but I’ll use the park light feed to trigger the relay. That way I can have a separate switch in the cab to turn them on and off. The window mechanisms are pretty easy to change. The hardest part is unclipping the window from the old mechanism. But with a couple of good sized flathead screwdrivers, even that isn’t hard to do.

    Excellent video Jeenzy. Mine likely popped out yesterday. I have not pulled it apart yet to confirm. That is tomorrow's job. I was able to get my 2005 BF Fairlane car started and drove it home. Tow NOT required. I hope this may help some people. I didn't seem to have a problem with the blown 20A fuse that other posters in the comments have had. 1. You need to put the key in the ignition. I turned it to ON. This will allow the immobiliser transponder in the key to do its thing. It also SEEMS to prevent the steering from locking. Readers should make their own assessment before driving !!! Don't rely that it worked for me. BE WARNED. 2. You need to bridge the Vbat circuit to the ignition circuit in a convenient location. I used the fuse box above the drivers right knee. Vbat was sourced from the "Trailer" 30A fuse. I used the 15A injection fuse for the ignition circuit. I connected the two fuses with a switch. Jaycar sells fuse double adaptors which are excellent for making the connection at both ends. Need two. Mini blade type. www.jaycar.com.au/double-mini-blade-fuse-socket-wire-tap/p/SF5125?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD0dvLY8ziBoiAEn1_DABewNAUTOY&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4rK8BhD7ARIsAFe5LXJy0Fy0Bn-iMNH4eLjro_Qn7dY1eqdR0WsF9EBZAovx9ODxcuVn70YaAp1WEALw_wcB 3. When the connection is made, in my case by closing the switch, the dash lights up like it does when the car is in the CRANK/START position. Accessories is still off. Don't expect radio or A/C to work etc. It won't crank yet, that's the next step... 4. Remove the starter relay in the junction box in the engine bay. Bridge the high current contacts to activate the starter. I used a pair of small needle nose pliers. The car will crank and start. The high current contacts are revealed on the side of the starter relay that was removed. See drawing there. 5. Take care, drive slowly and leave plenty of space on the way home, just in case. If you are reading this, AT YOUR OWN RISK. 6. When I got home I turned the switch OFF thus removing the bridge and the engine stopped. TIP: As the accessories circuit is OFF, the power windows won't work. With the switch off, if you press the unlock button on the remote, the widows will work for about 30 seconds. Handy, since the A/C won't work.

Fingers crossed the transmission in the breeze car comes good. @Jeenzy79 Thanks mate. Yeah if it slips, do another flush as they'll still be a bit of milkshake in the converter. Are you planning to keep or flip? Knowing you, we're all looking forward to see another BF.

      @@vincekara9446 Will definitely do that, it's having an inspection tomorrow so it will be it first real drive and I'll be able to see how it goes. I'll more than likely get the worst of the panels like the rear bumper and the passenger fender touched up and then move it on. Unless something too good to pass on pops up, I probably wont get another one for a while as I plan on putting a Turbo on my Fairmont once this one is gone. Cheers.

      @@nickmorrow7229 No probs at all mate, it’s a very common issue… crappy design from the factory which was revised on the models. Hopefully yours has just wriggled lose and it’s just a matter of putting it all back together. One thing I didn’t mention also was the ign fuse in the engine bay fuse box can also go when this happens. Just something to keep in mind. 20A fuse from memory. Cheers

    So glad to have found this video. Very informative. Gonna watch one more time and give it a go. Got stuck right before Xmas and no luck getting anyone that time of year to fix. Found those two ball bearings on the floor mat after it was towed home. Looks fairly simple but finicky. Im hoping thats the only issue.
