  • In this video I managed to use some used ZF fluid to flush out as much of the milkshaking from the transmission as possible. Then I put some fresh fluid in... so far, so good!
    There’s still hope for this old Falcon yet!

    Awesome mate. Well done! If you have the steering wheel SAS (black box on wrapping around the steering shaft), then you need a scan tool to recalibrate SAS due to TC light. Usally the BF ghia's, Turbo and the XR8 has EBD as standard. Therefore, your's is optioned with it. Even better with safety features.

      Cheers mate! Ah rightey'o... I'll take the wheel off and have a look at it. I did swap over the steering angle sensor when I fixed the ignition switch so I thought that may have something to do with it. The wheel is loose so I think the bloke before me may have swapped the column and didn't tighten it up properly as well.

    I have a BA and I wanted to install a new rad and separate trans cooler (even though it is not as critical on the BTR).
    From my research on "flushing" the transmission, I found that you have to raise the rear wheels off the ground when you go through the gears.
    Doing the job at home on jack stands I was more than a little nervous about putting the car in gear with the wheels in the air, but it worked out.
    Good to see your result and I am interested to hear how it works out for you, as all the forums reckon you can't fix the ZF after a shake.

      @@mattjacomos2795 Hey mate, I know exactly what you mean. I couldn’t find anything positive with regards to flushing the ZF with any success after milkshaking. Time will tell how it goes but so far so good.
      I’d still be putting a cooler on a BTR if it was my own car. At least you know there’s 0 chance of it ever happening. A small investment to avoid a lot of hassle.
      I was aware the back wheels were on the ground. I was actually doing way other transmission at the same time I did this one and had both cars in the air. I ran out of stands and jacks 😆
      I am going to flush the transmission in this car one more time so I will make sure the car is level when I do.

Otherwise hit a wrecking yard up and hope for the best. probably better than rebuilding one, my mate reckons its genually about 1000 a gear. could always try a home rebuild, im tempted to try one on a 4 speed lol. theres a few decent vids on youtube for the 4 speeds these days, id imagine the 6 speeds are the saem

    • @vincekara9446

      I think the V8 has it in the radiator (as the heat exchanger like the radiators off a BA/BF BTR 4 speed) and no heat exchanger on the tranny. If that is the case, you still need this.

    • @Jeenzy79
      @Jeenzy79  13 дней назад +1

      All of the B-Series have them fitted from factory mate apart from the manual transmissions. If your cooling system is maintained it may not even happen. But it's always a possibility. This car got me motivated to finally remove mine from my Fairmont just yesterday. Zero chance of it happening now.

      I would def upgrade to an external cooler. I think all autos in B series Falcons have these (ZF) or similar incorporated in the radiator (BTR), which still can milkshake over time. Best to get a external cooler kit to avoid it. Google is your friend here so do some research on it. Most good Auto transmission shops can install them and pretty quickly, but can also be done by your self if you choose as they have good instructions.
