My father moved to Brazil when he was young, he said he'll never go back to Europe. He loves this country more than most locals. That being said, he warns all his parents in Italy that come visit him in Brazil to bring larger clothes because they WILL GAIN WEIGHT. It's THE foodie ultimate country. Some things you brought up Security: São Paulo is the safest capital in the country and one of the safest cities (most all others are on the state too, so it's a pretty safe location), it has crime rates similar to New York. That being said, not all country is like this, but even cities like Rio de Janeiro that are famous for being violent (and are on similar levels to Chicago tbh), are not that bad if you don't go up favelas or try to meddle with gang business. Violence in Brazil is often gang on gang or police on gang. Tattoos: Brazil is not the most tattooed country but São Paulo is the most tattooed city in the world. You'll see less tattoos the further away you go from the city. Weather: São Paulo rains everyday when is hot and get really dry in the winter. Ivana looks Brazilian: Oh yeah, to be real, both of you could pass as brazilians without much of a problem. The only real ethnicity we don't really have here is southern asians. For some reason, the Indian subcontinent never migrated here. All the rest? Plenty.
@gustaw sząposki He's actually right, south east Asians are fairly rare anywhere in Brazil, there are lots of Japanese, Chinese, Korean, but not many Indians or Pakistanis or Thais or Vietnamese , those are the only ethnic backgrounds that are rare here.
That's true, I always wonder why the Indians didn't came here especially considering the amount of Indians in the world, more than 1 billion and almost no one came.

If you haven't already gone to Rio, I would suggest going to the city of Petropolis in the state of Rio, and it's only an hour's drive up to the mountains. It will be cool to see the contrast of being in the city of Rio (we're this time of year it's pretty hot), and an hour's drive you're in a mountain city, with lots of different european influences and cooler weather. I'm originally from the city of Rio, but the mountain towns and cities are my fav. If I ever go back to live in the state of Rio, I would either choose Petropolis region or Nova Friburgo (New Fribourg) region. By the way I'm loving your videos, you both have an amazing vibe! You said you would like to know how is christmas in Brazil, so if you will not spend the holiday with your friend's family, you totally should visit the town of Gramado. It's the biggest christmas party in Brazil
I hope you visit the city of São Luís, in Maranhão state!! One of the most culturally rich cities in the country. And from there you can go to one of the most unique and incredible places in the world: Lençóis Maranhenses 😄😄

15:45 A small slice of popular culture for you: São Paulo is well known amongst other Brazilians for being the state of mashed potatoes (no, really). They have mashed potatoes in hot dogs, with ceviche, in pizzas, in sandwiches, they have premade mashed potatoes mixes in super markets, they even have lists for the "best potato puree in SP" online.... But then again, what does it matter? There's healthy, there's cheap, there's delicious, and in the middle there's potatoes. Potatoes are the ultimate food group haha.

10:36 Tapioca is actually a starch extracted from the Cassava root - which is eaten in many forms in Brazil. In Asia, it's eaten most commonly in pearl form but in Brazil you can make it into a crepe :) It's flavourless like the pearl balls in bubble tea but it's good if you want gluten-free food and you can eat it savoury or sweet for breakfast or a snack - it goes really well with coffee. In the South of Brazil they actually put the tapioca pearl balls (sagu) in red wine with cinnamon and cloves and make a mulled wine called Quentão.

Respect for trying to understand the country and it's culture so much. Brazil is much much more than copocabana, favelas, carnival and the amazonas. I've been living here for two years and I keep getting surprised of what this country has to offer. Enjoy your stay!
@@JetLagWarriors Brasilia it’s famous by the modernist architecture, so if you interested in this, you’re should check it out!! Also, just a few hours driving from Brasilia is Chapada dos Veadeiros/ Alto Paraíso- GO, where you can find the most famous waterfalls of the country!
I loved the "obrigada, obrigado" thing hahhaha Here in Brazil the correct thing to do is always let pedestrians cross the road in the crosswalk, even if the sign for pedestrians is red. But many drivers don't respect it, so people are riskig their lives doing that.
You should come to my town, PARATY-rj. You could come before rio, because Paraty is located between sao paulo and rio state. Its a place with a lots of beaches and islands and also a historic town.
YES! We don’t have beaches in the capital but the cost are just 1:30 min away from the capital (without traffic) we have more than 300 beaches and one of the most beautiful beaches in the world is in SÃO PAULO costal área.
"Never judge a book by its cover"...this idiom is truly right about you guys' first impression on Brazil before your arrival there. Well, after a week stay, you both in fact have fallen in love with it and are now fearless...👍👍👏👏 Woooooooow...am loving those street arts and graffiti...truly amazing and whoever the artists are, they are fantastic !!! Another wow for the yummy food and the technology used in that restaurant. I notice something on Steve's arm..is it a sticker or a tattoo? As for lvana, your hair is shorter, has a haircut? 😀😀🤓 Anyway, enjoyed watching this informative and knowledgeable video. Great content and Happy exploring, Steve lvana.
I dunno if you're still in São Paulo, if yes, go to the "Vila Madalena" neighborhood, often the best of everything foodie is there, only my fav sushi place isn't there, but pizza, burger, Arab, Brazilian, BBQ, and all the best of São Paulo is there, also great sushi places too, but my fav is on Liberdade, the japan/Asia town of São Paulo.
Go to Bonito in Mato Grosso do Sul state. It's an inland destination full of ecotourism with cristaline-water rivers that you can swim and observe the fish, several waterfalls and blue-water caves. It's gorgeous!
I'm now going to look for your video in the neighborhood of Liberdade, the largest Japanese community outside of Japan. It's the neighborhood where I'll be heading tomorrow and I'll be staying at the hotel there for 4 days. ❤️❤️❤️
oh this is so nice, you were visiting all the streets and places I'm used to go and pass by almost everyday and your tourist eye, explorers surprises and amazements kinda make me see things from normal day-by-day differently, reminding me these things are special, but the locals sometimes forget it...
Hello guys. I love your videos! If you love corn and during a bus travel you should try to it corn juice, corn ice cream corn pie in a "Rancho da Pamonha". I'm Brazilian and I miss it badly. Good trip in Brazil!
Hi, I’m a new viewer to your channel. Hello Ivana!! Never thought that you’re Indonesian! I am an Indonesian and living in São Paulo. Nice to see your video about SP, I really enjoyed it 👍
One more comment: you should try to make it down to the Sao Paulo coastal beaches of Ubatuba, Caraguatatuba and the island of Ilhabela. You can then take the Costa Verde through Rio de Janeiro state (stop at the colonial town of Paraty if you can) on your way to the city of Rio de Janeiro. THAT is the lush and beautiful Brazil that everyone thinks of when they think of Brazil.
Hi guys! I've been having lots of fun watching you two explore and enjoy my home town -- and seeing it through the eyes of two foreigners. It's a shame I've only got to watch them now, but if you ever come back, there's an amazing Thai restaurant in Liberdade (Thai E-San, try their pad tai and the entree soup with fish broth, chicken, coconut milk and spices for lunch). Also, have a drink on the roof top of Hotel Unique on Biigadeiro Luís Antônio Ave, it's a gorgeous, unexpected architectural landmark and it offers a stunning 360-degree view of the city. Ah, and try the JK and Argentina pizza at Camelo (order a half anf half pizza with these flavors).
Nice that you are enjoying our dear country! Brazil has an incredible culture. Here are several countries within a single one. If you are still in São Paulo, a suggestion in the city and another in the state. For the city of São Paulo visit the Ibirapuera Park and for the state of São Paulo, go to the city of Campos do Jordão, you will love Europe within Brazil. Speak well of our country to the world! Thanks!
I just found the channel and binge-watched all videos of my home country Brazil 🇧🇷 I live in Texas (LET’S GO COWBOYS ⭐️ btw) and it is so nice to see you guys enjoying and sharing experiences from Brazil. So here it goes a few recommendations for you to make the most out of this 90 day stay. You should definitely plan to visit all five regions because they’re very distinct. SP Capital: Mercado Municipal to try our cheesy ham sandwich from Mané (the best and most traditional restaurant over there) and lots of different fruits. SP State: Holambra (It’s our little version of the Netherlands); Ubatuba (has many nice beaches) On Christmas, take a plane to the south (Porto Alegre) and spend it in Gramado. Since you’re in the southern part, enjoy 2 or 3 days in Foz do Iguaçu and check out the biggest waterfall in water volume in the world. If you’re the shopping mood, cross the border to Paraguai and buy cheaper things in Ciudad Del Est. For new year’s eve, Rio is the way to go. Spend as much time as you want in the most scenic city on Earth. When you’re done with Rio (city) you can take quick trips to Angra dos Reis/Paraty to enjoy absolutely stunning beaches. After that, in the Northeastern part of Brazil, there’re many states and many places to go but the must-see in order of priority is: Maragogi (state of Alagoas); Lençóis Maranhenses (state of Maranhão); Jericoacoara (state of Ceará): Chapada Diamantina (our green Grand Canyon in the state of Bahia) and Salvador (state of Bahia). After all incredible beach & heat experience in the Northeast, heading west you’ll get to the North region, heart of the largest rainforest in the world, the Amazon (Amazon is ours not yours, Bezos lol). Manaus, Belém and Alter do Chão are three amazing cities you’ll get to experience a lot of the forest. Still in the North, if you have time, make sure to go to Jalapão (stunning place in the state of Tocantins). Alrighty, time to head south and land in the Midwest where you wanna visit Bonito (state of Mato Grosso) and Brasília (our capital). Going back to the Southeast to finish your loop on the country, you can spend some time in my state, Minas Gerais. It’s where you’re gonna find the best food in the country and lots of charming historic towns. In Minas, must-go’s are Ouro Preto and Capitólio. After all these places, you’ll have truly experienced our culture in its finest. Google all these places I mentioned to have a taste of what you’re gonna miss if you don’t do all of them haha. You’re still gonna be missing so many nice places but I absolutely can’t wait for y’all to enjoy Brazil and record everything of this journey so we all can have a great time watching these nice adventures of yours in these blessed lands. Hope you have a great time and if you need anything, just comment here and I’ll try my best. Oh one thing, Palmeiras sucks. They don’t have junior cup nor club world cup (LALAIÁLALAIÁLALAIÁ where my Brazilians at? 😂) Flamengo is the best hands down and you can confirm that with your own eyes watching Flamengo plays the Super-cup final on Feb 20th. Cheers guys!
I agree with almost everything. But Palmeiras is the most winning football club in the country. Flamengo cant even reach our feet. At the Libertadores Cup final, you only hear the Palmeiras' fans. Haha
You guys just need to go to Minas Gerais, the capital and some of the nice historic towns and UNESCO sites, best food and warmest people. You'll love it and it is quite safe, a Brazil you never imagined and very underrated!
Love your vídeos. Must stop at Campos do Jordão city on the way to Rio. Our Swiss Mountain city. Also must visit the Aparecida Basilica. Thais ia a must stop.
I suggest you guys to visit Parque Ibirapuera few museums inside this park. Next it there´s Museu de Arte Contemporanea and a few blocks from it Planeta Inseto (insect museum with some interation). Other museum is Museu da Imagem e do Som, MIS, right now with a exibition of Rita Lee (brazilian rock singer). Outside Sao Paulo city there are too many options! In South states you may visit cities like Curitiba, Blumenau, Balneario Camboriu, Florianopolis, Gramado. In the Northeast states try to visit Fernando de Noronha island.
in São Paulo, the most "traditional" sandwich isn't the Mortadela Sandwich as some would say, but the Lanche de Pernil, in Estadão bar. Mercado Municipal is kinda a tourist trap, the locals don't usualy go there
Yvona , that yelow shirt you took it from Romania right ? we call it IE. I am glad to be with you discovering BRASIL .Have a very pleasant journey there.
Hey, I live in Sao Paulo for a While. I recommend you a Japanese restaurant in Liberdade called Ikkousha for eat lamen, is amazing. Famous places in Sao Paulo: Bar do Juarez, Terraço Italia Nice Reataurants: Casa do Porco (Michelin Guide, it means the house of pork) There is a restaurant called D.O.M, is the only one in Brazil that got a 2 michelin stars, I never went there because is really really expensive I already travelled a lot in Brazil, Amazonia, northeast, soth One thing that is amazing everywhere is visiting the old churches and cathedrals, it represents a lot on the history of our country
Try Northeast Brasil.. very nice place and local food. Chapada Diamantina, Salvador Bahia, Fortaleza Ceara, Fernando de noronha Pernambuco, Maceio Alagoas, Natal Rio Grande do Norte
It's so cool to see that you guys are enjoying your time here, I basically agree with 99% of what you said, it's a really good vision you've got in such short time. Oh, and about the people, here's a fun fact: I wouldn't realize you both are foreigners in the streets If u did not speak english instead of portuguese haha. People are very plural in Brazil, It's totally common you have friends of different ethnicities here :)
Thanks for watching!❤️🇧🇷

10:38 I've heard a lot about bubble tea, but I have no idea about where to find it in Brazil. I'm honoured you've found a use for our tapioca, though.
15:36 In Brazil there must be always rice, so whatever you eat has to go with the rice; there's no other choice. So mashed potatos with rice, yes.
Beautiful country ❤️
Respect for trying to understand the country and it's culture so much. Brazil is much much more than copocabana, favelas, carnival and the amazonas. I've been living here for two years and I keep getting surprised of what this country has to offer. Enjoy your stay!
You NEED to go to Brasília, the true capital of the country! It's just incredible!
Any reccommendations on things to do there?
@@JetLagWarriors Brasilia it’s famous by the modernist architecture, so if you interested in this, you’re should check it out!! Also, just a few hours driving from Brasilia is Chapada dos Veadeiros/ Alto Paraíso- GO, where you can find the most famous waterfalls of the country!
@@JetLagWarriors I dont think that you need to stay for many days tough. 3 days is just fine
Muito bommm🎉
I loved the "obrigada, obrigado" thing hahhaha
Here in Brazil the correct thing to do is always let pedestrians cross the road in the crosswalk, even if the sign for pedestrians is red. But many drivers don't respect it, so people are riskig their lives doing that.
You should come to my town, PARATY-rj.
You could come before rio, because Paraty is located between sao paulo and rio state. Its a place with a lots of beaches and islands and also a historic town.
We’ll be there!!😁😁😁
@@JetLagWarriors let me know , maybe we can meet or I can give you guys some tips.
YES! We don’t have beaches in the capital but the cost are just 1:30 min away from the capital (without traffic) we have more than 300 beaches and one of the most beautiful beaches in the world is in SÃO PAULO costal área.
I think you should take a walk on Ibirapuera park. It is big and full of people
l looove SP, it has everything you need! Nice vlog, guys!
I really love to hear this guy talking, he speak so fast but understand every single word. Thanks, you are really helping me improve my english.
"Never judge a book by its cover"...this idiom is truly right about you guys' first impression on Brazil before your arrival there. Well, after a week stay, you both in fact have fallen in love with it and are now fearless...👍👍👏👏
Woooooooow...am loving those street arts and graffiti...truly amazing and whoever the artists are, they are fantastic !!!
Another wow for the yummy food and the technology used in that restaurant.
I notice something on Steve's arm..is it a sticker or a tattoo? As for lvana, your hair is shorter, has a haircut? 😀😀🤓
Anyway, enjoyed watching this informative and knowledgeable video. Great content and Happy exploring, Steve lvana.
Awesome video! Saw you guys on my friend’s Gringo Nation’a channel, keep on exploring!
You should try the São Paulo pizza it's just amazing! We even say it's better than the Italian one, but I'm suspicious to say that 👀👀
99% of italians would disagree. US Americans also usually disagree.
@@rogeriopenna9014 Yeah they disagree, but they are wrong. Moro na Europa e sinto falta da pizza brasileira
do you know any good places in SP to try?? Or just pick any restaurants?
@@JetLagWarriors MARGUERITTA. Super tradicional no bairro dos jardins!
It's really amazing there, lots of things to do, from diving to skydiving
Beautiful 😊
I'm now going to look for your video in the neighborhood of Liberdade, the largest Japanese community outside of Japan. It's the neighborhood where I'll be heading tomorrow and I'll be staying at the hotel there for 4 days. ❤️❤️❤️
Vocês deveriam conhecer Ilhabela e Ubatuba, o estado de São Paulo tem um belo litoral.
welcome guys!
😊
I really love seeing people from different countries visiting Brazil and enjoying it :)
oh this is so nice, you were visiting all the streets and places I'm used to go and pass by almost everyday and your tourist eye, explorers surprises and amazements kinda make me see things from normal day-by-day differently, reminding me these things are special, but the locals sometimes forget it...
wow! so cool graffiti! full of color! thanks guys !
Legal
Hello guys. I love your videos! If you love corn and during a bus travel you should try to it corn juice, corn ice cream corn pie in a "Rancho da Pamonha". I'm Brazilian and I miss it badly. Good trip in Brazil!
Brazilian here! If you guys are still in São Paulo, I'd recommend going to Catavento Museum and Butantan Institute. They are really fun to visit.
Love u! And Brasil! Me? România...
SP State: Holambra (It’s our little version of the Netherlands); Ubatuba (has many nice beaches)
On Christmas, take a plane to the south (Porto Alegre) and spend it in Gramado.
Cheers guys!
wowwww this guide is awesome. Thanks! Go Cowboys!
I agree with almost everything.
But Palmeiras is the most winning football club in the country. Flamengo cant even reach our feet. At the Libertadores Cup final, you only hear the Palmeiras' fans. Haha
@@TieRo69 Brasileiros by FAX cannot be counted 😅
You guys are so sweet! Welcome to Brazil. Enjoy your trip! 😃

You guys just need to go to Minas Gerais, the capital and some of the nice historic towns and UNESCO sites, best food and warmest people. You'll love it and it is quite safe, a Brazil you never imagined and very underrated!
You guys are so polite with your comments. As a Brazilian, I think that's really nice. Thank you, enjoy your 90 days here! 😊
Super top
Love São Paulo ❤️
I love SP
Love your vídeos. Must stop at Campos do Jordão city on the way to Rio. Our Swiss Mountain city. Also must visit the Aparecida Basilica. Thais ia a must stop.
We have been there! We have many Brazil videos and more are coming!😁 Check them out
Welcome to Brazil
Thanks Amanda!
In the Northeast states try to visit Fernando de Noronha island.
you need to know Holambra
Cool city, excited for upcoming videos
Thanks Babar😊
in São Paulo, the most "traditional" sandwich isn't the Mortadela Sandwich as some would say, but the Lanche de Pernil, in Estadão bar. Mercado Municipal is kinda a tourist trap, the locals don't usualy go there
Don't forget about our "different" hotdog
O Brasil é o país dos raios
The Romanian shirt fits perfect in a tropical country !

Yvona , that yelow shirt you took it from Romania right ? we call it IE. I am glad to be with you discovering BRASIL .Have a very pleasant journey there.
Yep! I felt it sort of matched and looked cool in the graffiti. Bright colors :)

Venha conhecer ouro preto em Minas Gerais vcs vão gostar com certeza
Welcome too Brasil!!!!
Hey, I live in Sao Paulo for a While.
I recommend you a Japanese restaurant in Liberdade called Ikkousha for eat lamen, is amazing.
Famous places in Sao Paulo: Bar do Juarez, Terraço Italia
Nice Reataurants: Casa do Porco (Michelin Guide, it means the house of pork)
There is a restaurant called D.O.M, is the only one in Brazil that got a 2 michelin stars, I never went there because is really really expensive
I already travelled a lot in Brazil, Amazonia, northeast, soth
One thing that is amazing everywhere is visiting the old churches and cathedrals, it represents a lot on the history of our country
Have a nice trip!
❤❤❤❤❤
Os estados do brasil, são países dentro do Brasil ! Yeah I love this country, Bahia is the best for me ! But I love Sp !
Try Northeast Brasil.. very nice place and local food. Chapada Diamantina, Salvador Bahia, Fortaleza Ceara, Fernando de noronha Pernambuco, Maceio Alagoas, Natal Rio Grande do Norte
Hi dears, how are you?
I just wanna to say that exists beachs in São Paulo like Peruibe, Itanhaem, Guarujá....
It's interesting to see how impressions change after a while in the country. Nice!
"What can be better than that!!" Keep safe, healthy and happy.
:D Thanks for your great comment !
