It's a joy to see so much welcoming people over there, but I was quite sure that this is the kind of attitude in South America. It would be funny to ask them how much Brazilian-Portuguese is mutually intelligible with Romanian language, as they seem, veeeery close :)

Hello! Romanian actually has no mutual intelligibility with the other Romance languages due to how isolated it has been through its evolution over the centuries. It also borrows a great deal of vocabulary from Slavic languages, which doesn't help at all, lol. I'm a Brazilian linguist and other than Portuguese I also speak Spanish, French and Italian, and I can't even understand 20% of written Romanian and even less when it is spoken.
I try it do a Papanasi today (it was easy, except for not found some ingredients like sour cream - I needed to do that). I watch the video in Romain language, a lot of words are very similar. But without a English subtitle, I couldn't undersand at all.

I've been Brazilian for 39 years (I'm going to live in Montreal next year) and I can confirm that you had the best traditional Brazilian barbecue. I can guarantee that all the food there is 6 stars just by looking at how they are cooking. Even the brick grill is traditional, found in millions of backyards in Brazil. Love and gifts are mandatory in all families, under any social class.

Home BBQ is always better than Steak Houses, you eat better, and you're not ripped off. If a group of friends invites you to share the BBQ bill, it will be worth it. Because you will spend less than going out.

The bacalhau is the opposite of fresh. I am 100% sure it was caught in Europe preserved in salt. The thing is portuguese and brazilian are pretty good at turning tough oversalted pieces of fish back into deliciousness.
I see that brasilian traditional Christmas food is very similar with romanian's traditional food. You should try romanian pork belly, we call it slănină, or pomana porcului (pork alms) or cozonac with chocolate. Have fun!
I wouldn't call this traditional christmas in Brazil, it's common weekend food but not really christmassy. More traditional food would be small turkeys (called tenders), ham with cloves and a syrup sauce, rice (often with raisins on christmas), nuts, farofa, some kind of potato dish like fries, batata palha which is a stringy potato chip, potato salad, or cod with potatoes and of course panettone. But that's all rather heavy food for summer in Brazil, it's still traditional because it's what the Portuguese immigrants would have here, but nowadays a lot of people change their personal christmas dinner (which also is on christmas eve no christmas day) they had some common things on christmas but risotto and churrasco is definitely not traditional to christmas, Brazilians do tend to love both however.

I was so moved by Ivana’s reaction to the gifts! And I’m so glad you guys got to have this experience and got to feel how we Brazilians like to make our guests feel like part of our family, even if we never met them in person before. This is straight up the Brazilian way of life. We just really enjoy sharing our culture with foreigners and we love when they like what they’re experiencing, and especially when they feel at home and comfortable with us. There’s something about sharing your culture with people that is just revolutionary. We Brazilians cherish that to its fullest extent.

You definitely should go to the Historic cities in Minas Gerais (Ouro Preto …), Florianópolis and Balneário Camburiu, Serra Gaúcha (Gramado…) and the northeast ( Salvador, Recife, João Pessoa, Maceió, Fortaleza ). Oh, don’t forget Foz do Iguaçu in the south! Just a feel suggestions!!!!

Not everywhere. In my house we celebrate Christmas at the 25th. Barbecue all day, a huge lunch and lots of drinks and music 🤸🏼♀️

I was so moved by Ivana’s reaction to the gifts! And I’m so glad you guys got to have this experience and got to feel how we Brazilians like to make our guests feel like part of our family, even if we never met them in person before. This is straight up the Brazilian way of life. We just really enjoy sharing our culture with foreigners and we love when they like what they’re experiencing, and especially when they feel at home and comfortable with us. There’s something about sharing your culture with people that is just revolutionary. We Brazilians cherish that to its fullest extent.

wow.. so nice you had this brazilian experience. Pretty much the same as we had here at our home. Churrasco and lots of food, some wine, chanpagne, desert and the so nice watching the children open the presents, so happy to be together with family after almost 2 years. Merry Christmas guys !

You definitely should go to the Historic cities in Minas Gerais (Ouro Preto …), Florianópolis and Balneário Camburiu, Serra Gaúcha (Gramado…) and the northeast ( Salvador, Recife, João Pessoa, Maceió, Fortaleza ). Oh, don’t forget Foz do Iguaçu in the south! Just a feel suggestions!!!!
