About the 9:46 Timestamp, he said that the japaneses brought this kind of Apple to brazil, and we started to harvest them in here! Also, "quando" means "When" and just switching the "D" to a "T" (Quanto) means "How much" or "How expansive" . Keep the great vlogs, love it all.

Hi! That creamy side dish is called "pirão". It is very traditional as a side dish for seafood. We usually eat it with rice, and it is made with seafood stew and cassava flour. I love it! :) I love watching your videos too! Thank you!
Guys, don't leave Brazil without trying Brazilian native fruits. They have unique flavors. For example, goiaba, caju, seriguela, cajá, cupuaçu, jaboticaba, umbu... These fruits are found in popular fairs. Hugs and have a good trip.
That's right, Steve, Ivana, u guys must try d Brazilian native fruits, u certainly won't find them in Canada. I saw from d video, in d market some lovely fruits.
It was so funny the guy speaking portuguese normally as if you had understanding. And Ivana saying goiaba was nice too. I'm glad you like Brazil and his people.
I live in a city here in Santa Catarina too, called Bombinhas (littlecrackers) named after the sounds of waves crashing in the rocks. It is the smallest County of Santa Catarina, Theres a lot of beaches too for every site of the city you take, kinda simillar to Floripa. One thing i Feel for our tourism (in brazil) judging by the video is the lack of at least 1 person to have the knowledge to speak simple english, a manager or some like that (in a restaurant), makes me sad. Glad you guys are cool, safe and could make it without problems so far. Hope a Safe Travel for u guys, and enjoy Brasil ! 👊

The apples that turned out to be pears looked like what we call Nashi Pears. Such a wide variety of fresh produce there and all at fantastic prices. Fish wise if you can find Barracuda , it's delicious. Sole with shrimp sauce sounds good and the fish flavour of Sole is not too strong. The portion is enough for two.
Fun fact about Florianópolis: The island's actual name is Ilha de Santa Catarina (Isle of Santa Catarina) and before the city's name was Nossa Senhora do Desterro (Our Lady of the Exile). At that time (1891-1894) the president was Floriano Peixoto, better known as Marechal de Ferro (Iron Marshal), and one day he was discontented with the islander's behavior because he was a federalist and some of the people of Desterro didn't like him so he invaded the city and killed 200 of them and forced the governor, Hercílio Luz, to make the city the capital and name it Florianpólis which means City of Floriano. I love that you guys are exploring other parts of Brazil. You'll see that Santa Catarina is very distinct, especially if you look at its interior. Some nice cities to visit are: Pomerode, Blumenau, Joinville, Balneário Camboriú, Brusque, São Francisco do Sul, Nova Trento, São Joaquim and Bom Jardim da Serra. I am from Santa Catarina, my family has been here for more than 100 years. They came from Germany and Italy and also natives, our state or country haha is beautiful, enjoy your stay. Have fun and God bless.
Thank you for reminding the history of the city. But in fact Floriano wasn't a "federalist". The rebels of the Navy that left Rio to join the Federalist Revolution in the south, to fight Floriano's dictatorship, established in the Isle of Santa Catarina their "revolutionary government". They were defeated and killed by Floriano, who gave the city his infamous name.
The apple vendor was explaining that that type of apple originally come from Japan (I believe is called Fuji Apple). As you saw on Liberdade, many japanese people (also italian and german) came to Brazil from around 1890 to 1950. With the 2nd WW, the descendants from the Axis nations, were banned from living on the coast side of Brazil and were remanaged to the country side of the south/southeast regions, which greatly improved the agriculture, since the first families which arrived here were probably families involved in the agriculture business in their original countries. So, today, many big brands of fruits, vegetables and cattle markets are named after these families. In fact, I have distant members of my family which are one of the main producers of banana in Brazil and worldwide.
My Sao Paulo native husband and I spent 4 months in Floripa last year. We had never been there. Loved it! Sadly never went to the downtown. Hope to go back this year.
Gooooosh you both are so sweet! I live in Brazil, in Floripa, and thought it was so cute you both like, "discovering" the things that are so usual for us. Glad that you liked our little paradise ❤️ O melhor do Brasil é o brasileiro, for sure!
This market is really remarkable. It looks so beautiful. I would say it looks so picturesque. Steve you are getting better and better at eating fish. The fish you had looks amazing. The ambiance around the food court looks very nice. It a nice place to hang out. I must say the prices of the fruit are reasonable. Btw in your opinion is Brazil more expensive or cheaper than Malaysia?
The crab shells are used for a dish called Casca de Siri. They fill the crab shells with a mixture of seafood and bake them. It's delicious. At least I love it.

Suggestion: guys, on your way back you'll pass through the state of Paraná where the world-famous Iguaçu Falls are located. The falls are one of World's Natural Seven Wonders and there's plenty to visit in Foz de Iguaçu natural parks. From there you can cross on foot and visit Paraguay and Argentina.

You guys are great! I love watching your videos just to see your impressions of Brazil! 🇧🇷 😍 ❤ "Fun" fact: A Ponte Hercílio Luz had a twin sister in US, called Silver Bridge in the State of Ohio, done by the same American Architect. The bridge collapsed in 1967 (killing 46 people), and that's why the Ponte Hercílio Luz was closed for so many years. They wanted to make sure that they could restructure the bridge in order to be safe, so they could reopen it to the public 😉
@@orohyuno well, I feel sorry for the people who got killed in Ohio. But yes, It's an interesting fact the bridge in Brazil had a twin sister and good God they had time to adjust the problems that we could possibly have had with Hercílio Luz. Peace! ✌
The sad part is that the project was so corrupt that with the money they used to fix the bridge, they could have built a new, 4-lane one five times over.

I'm from Florianopolis, and I loved how you guys were original in this video, talking to the locals and have the best experience at the public market, we dont pull a fast on another.
Extremely funny you guys trying to understand the "manezinho accent", our "six" is sounds a lot like "sage" ahahahha.
Best regards.
Eu moro em Florianópolis e adorei assistir o vídeo através da sua perspectiva.
It's grape season! Would be nice to visit the wine region in Rio Grande do Sul. Bento Gonçalves, Garibaldi, Caxias do Sul. And that's not far from Gramado and Canela

Guys, you are discovering the great things from Brazil. Really, go more to south after this and visit Gramado, Bento Gonçalves and the Canyons in Cambará do Sul.

Hi! That creamy side dish is called "pirão". It is very traditional as a side dish for seafood. We usually eat it with rice, and it is made with seafood stew and cassava flour. I love it! :)
I love watching your videos too!
Seriguela e cajá são típicos da América central porém se deu muito bem no Brasil.
Or at least some brazilian fruit juices. There are many juice bars that squeeze fresh juice from your fruit of choice.
Jabuticaba is a must try

It was so funny the guy speaking portuguese normally as if you had understanding. And Ivana saying goiaba was nice too. I'm glad you like Brazil and his people.
The other sauce on the side is called pirão that is beans cooked with the leftovers of fish
FYI the guy from the restaurant was telling you guys to tag “Trapiche Bar” (restaurant’s name) on your instagram stories 😂

Hahahahaha guys you have no idea how much you make me laugh, I’m a Brazilian, and I speak fluent English, and you’d laugh with me if I could let you know what was happening in your conversation with the Brazilians, it was absolutely hilarious.

The apples that turned out to be pears looked like what we call Nashi Pears. Such a wide variety of fresh produce there and all at fantastic prices. my city is AMAZING ♡
The fruit all looks amazingly ripe and fresh! Fruit in Canada is usually not that ripe or smelling that amazing!
Beets are your friend Steve. LOL, Great video.
My Sao Paulo native husband and I spent 4 months in Floripa last year. We had never been there. Loved it! Sadly never went to the downtown. Hope to go back this year.

The ambiance around the food court looks very nice. It a nice place to hang out. I must say the prices of the fruit are reasonable. The market area was the place to be during the world cup with large TV screens and a great atmosphere.
There are several canyons on the border between Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. They are beautiful places.

The crab shells are used for a dish called Casca de Siri. They fill the crab shells with a mixture of seafood and bake them. It's delicious. At least I love it.

"Fun" fact: A Ponte Hercílio Luz had a twin sister in US, called Silver Bridge in the State of Ohio, done by the same American Architect. The bridge collapsed in 1967 (killing 46 people), and that's why the Ponte Hercílio Luz was closed for so many years. They wanted to make sure that they could restructure the bridge in order to be safe, so they could reopen it to the public 😉
That's funny, I've watched a documentary on the Silver Bridge yesterday, and now I discovered there's a twin sister here in Brazil lol
Que bom q vc esta gostando da nossa Cidade.
