If someone has clear medical issues then they might deserve sympathy and accommodation, but not complete redesign. Buses, trains, planes, amusement park rides, and public toilets are made for thousands of people. Her logic would require that everything in society be built for the shortest person and the tallest person and the heaviest person. If you were designing a public restroom on this logic, you'd need all of the stalls to be wider and all of the toilets to have titanium reinforcement. If you only provide one heavy duty, extra wide bathroom, then whoever uses it will be on some level singled out.
She doesn't just want a compromise that kinda, sorta works. She also laments things like odd looks. A world built for her and meant to render her difference invisible would sacrifice efficiency again and again and again. It might mean expecting other people to pay more for plane tickets. With bathrooms, it might require a thought process of "we've redesign the bathrooms at massive expense to improve them. Now they can take half the number of people they could before. You're welcome!" A lot of elements of life are available because the maths worked out.
If it got to the point where people had to pay 10% extra, maybe then some people drop out of flying. If it got to the point where she demanded amusement park rides be redesigned, maybe they tell her "the physics no longer work and we can't afford to rebuild from scratch. We're shutting down. Everyone is now equal in not being able to ride the rollercoaster". Her entitlement is staggering.

It is truly insane that these people expect and demand that everything be accommodated to them with no expense to them.
I have been disabled due to rheumatological diseases since I was a teenager. There are many, many, many places that are inaccessible with a wheelchair, including medical care buildings, I actually have had doctors visit me outside because I couldn't get to their office, yet, even with the ADA if I say something, even just to complain to a friend about how humiliating, degrading, and unfair it is i get told that the world doesn't have to accommodate me.
I have had severe Cushings disease, and as someone who was, for a long time severely cushionoid, which includes a specific distribution of extra body fat, it just made me hate the entitled glutinous people even more, because now no one even considers that it could actually be a medical problem.
Now I have gotten treatment and gotten rid of the excess weight, and multiple other secondary effects of the Cushings disease.
I hated anytime I could tell someone was thinking that I was just lazy, ate crap, didn't excersize, contributed or caused my condition in anyway. I hated being thought of like these entitled people, because I am the opposite.
If severely disabled people who have done nothing to cause their problems don't get free accommodations, how dare people who directed caused their own problems demand that and be so entitled.

@@victorcates9330 precisely and well stated! This is also an engineering 101 rule: you cannot afford to design and build for the extreme - you have to make a conservative judgement call that will safely, economically, easily, and equally serve that majority of those intending to utilize the end product…that is how design standards and regulations are written…we all know the 100 year flood may come but to design for that flood water level is not economical or sensible so the conservative majority of floods is determined and that is used: such as water treatment plant processes must be protected from being inundated by a 50 year or 25 year flood…same with structures and designing for earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, fires, snow loads, rain and wind, heat, pests, etc…a conservative level/limit/characteristics is chosen for a design that considers use, safety, economics, cost, maintenance, materials, etc. This oversize content creator is suggesting things be designed around a small percentage of the population which means it will cost more and realized benefit will be little. She needs to have an adult conversation about reality: either she can apply herself to losing some weight, or she can stop traveling and eating fats foods always on the go, or she can suck it up and live with her choice to remain as she is and make the best of her choices. It is not the responsibility of the vast majority of society to cater to a very very small number of a population…this is where self-accountability and maturity come into play. The large lady needs to GTFU and take responsibility for herself instead of being a bully to brow beat the majority to cater to her to save her feelings and not make her feel lazy for refusing to set limits and put in the commitment for change and compromise. No - we should never compromise with terrorists…and this is just another poster child for the outcome you get with parents that try to be friends and demand participation trophies!

Unfortunately the seats were full so I had to sit next to her the whole flight . That is the worst day of my life .

I know that this is not the same condition. Just for awareness. Apart from this I constantly wonder what the American Internet brings people to claim. I would not have made a video myself like this of the fat lady, If it was me. Only maybe if someone has been rude to me. But those constructions are not rude. But nevertheless many healthy people do not comprehend that being fat and sick could be also a health issue you can not always solve easily. Do you know this fat ballerina that is totally fit and trained but yet can not get slim because of her health condition? And I want to add, that I think one should be aware that for the price of traffic on those reaction videos you could be in danger to become also less empathetic. So I probably would not have made a reaction video neither because I do not know the life conditions of this fat lady and do not dare to judge.

And obviously you should buy more seats yourself if you need them - its not amicable for airlines to spend extra money on every overweight person that is too big to fit in the seats.
Life for these plus sized people will be much easier if they understand that due to their weight they can't do certain things. If you don't put the effort into loosing weight you must accept that you can't do some things. Aeroplanes can only take so much weight and if you want to travel on one, make sure the airline knows your heavy and buy the seats for your weight yourself. Its only right.

I suggest watching Gary Taubes lecture Good Calories, Bad Calories and watch The Oiling of America. A lot of really good information about the history of nutritional science and where and when it failed. The old 1950s British diet in the prologue works for most people. The exception is if you have food allergies. Then you might need to go carnivore for a few weeks and then add back one real food a week. Weigh yourself the morning you add the food and the next morning. A massive weight increase is a red flag. Indicates inflammation. Also look for other issues like rashes, bloating, constipation, or the other. Keep a diary and record everything. If a food has two ingredients like soy sauce, list both.
Most diet advice is based on the Ad vent ist cult agenda. Which is basically telling people to lose weight on the same diet advice that farmers use to fatten livestock cheaply. It works for about 20 percent of people. The non carb sensitive.
If you eat an apple on an empty stomach and you are more hungry after you are carb sensitive. If you have the hunger shakes, you are very carb sensitive.
America's eat 100 fewer calories a day than 20 years ago. But obesity has increased. Eighty percent of obese and fat people have metabolic syndrome. Sixty percent of normal and thin people also have metabolic syndrome. The number of diabetes is growing, including skinny type 2 diabetes. All red flags that something is dreadfully wrong.
Seed oils besides increasing your heart and stroke risk, cancer risk, also damage the pancreas. Big problem if you need to lose weight.
Another issue to watch for is floride in the water. Along with a Ad vent ist based diet it can ruin your thyroid. Three tests are need and most doctors preform the most useless of the three. Take your temperature first thing in the morning. Good indicator if it is low.
Back over 12 years so when still listening to the so called experts mine was always 94. It took 10 years of eating a human diet, but it is now 98.6. Normal. Other health issues cleared up much faster.

    • @BusArch42
      @BusArch42 9 месяцев назад +1

Historically European have not struggled with obesity as much as USA. That is changing though. It’s really a problem in many countries now. I see the demands for extra accommodations as trying to deny that obesity is a choice. It is a choice. You can either choose to control your intake and exercise or not control. One of my morbidly obese coworkers and I were talking one day. He said, it’s easy for you you are naturally skinny. I can’t help being this fat. I called another lady over and said, hey, C, what app do you use to track your calories and exercise. She was also in good physical condition but I didn’t know if she logged everything ( like me) or not. I was guessing. She enthusiastically launched into a discussion of the various apps and their merits. I shared what I used and she left. His jaw was dropped open. He assumed that two healthy weight 45 year old women didn’t watch their food and exercise?! It’s easier to use the excuse that you are naturally fat and others are naturally skinny than it is to admit you are just too lazy to care.

I have two things to say in reference to this situation. First, several years ago, I read an article about a small airline in the south pacific that had a problem with large passengers and smaller planes that had a limited overall weight capacity on their planes. I believe they where based in Samoa and the market could not support paying for bigger planes for what were primarily short haul flights. After a great deal of thought, some incredibly brilliant person came up with a solution. Each seat would have a weight allowance which included the total weight of passenger and their belongings - no exceptions. If you wanted to bring more, you could pay for another seat and get another weight allowance or if the there was some weight to spare after everyone was accounted for, you could pay by the pound by for whatever fell within the planes capacity.
The second thing I have to say concerns a close friend who did not want to be drafted in the late 1960's. He did not want to move to Canada so he began to eat large amounts of fattening foods to raise his weight substantially over the acceptable limit for the draft lest they decide he wasn't that much overweight and draft him and put him in what was then known in Basic Training as the STC or Special Training Company where you worked very hard to correct the problem. While he was not drafted, he had put on so much weight that his Potassium level in his blood and his Blood Pressure both rose significantly. Afterwards, he was unable to loose the weight and is on medications for numerous medical conditions which can be traced to the weight gain. He was very successful at his job but this required frequent air travel world wide so he always booked to adjacent seats and he, not the company, paid for the second seat. He would look at someone who would say the airline owed him the second seat for free as if they had two heads, neither of which had a functioning brain cell.

Im a quadriplegic person who travels quite a lot. Most people often overlook the fact that wheelchair users haven't had easy access to air travel if we use wheelchairs. And we are working on that. But I feel like more people need to mention disability and wheelchair users within this conversation of fat entitlement in regards of air travel. Don't get me started talking about disability injustice… Oh girl! We still don't even have marriage equality for disabled people on welfare, we don't have employment equality, housing equality, education equality… Don't forget about people with disabilities.

I just ranted about this wooman this morning! There are 2 options laid out for her. 1) diet and exercise at a consistent rate to lower your weight and not have to deal with these struggles or 2) shut the hell up. If you need an extra seat, buy an extra seat. No one in their right mind would ever just pay for your extra seat. It's truly unbelievable that people can be and are this entittled.

"Being fat is not a choice" for some people that is true. I've seen my mom try every possible way to lose weight. Different types of diets and exercises but she still stays the same weight. She doesn't really gain or lose weight. Right now she barely eats but when she does eat she doesn't eat freely and says she's on a diet. She's also constantly exercising and nothing seems to work. I feel genuine sympathy for people like her
Edit: Thank you all for the comments! She did get checked in a hospital and it had something to do with a hormonal imbalance? I'm not too sure about the details though

Artificial sweeteners will cause that to happen. Has she eliminated them from her diet? Natural sugars like sugar cane and honey get a bad rap because they have calories in them, but you're body recognizes them and knows how to process them unlike the fake stuff it stores it as fat and demands something else. It creates a vicious cycle but far be it from the FDA or government to protect us from these substances that are so profitable for their corporate donors 🙄

I’ve been overweight most of my life and it’s only been in the last two years that I’ve completely taken control of my health, and changed my lifestyle to be physically active every day. When I was in uncomfortable situations for my size like plane seats I never once thought that the airlines needed to accommodate me. I always thought I should be the one to be more responsible with my health. Now as a healthy person who works hard to maintain it though diet and exercise, I find influencers like her infuriating.

The cost of the flight is divided between the number of tickets, so the more seat they can fit on the plane the cheaper the price of each tickets, space is same so more seat means smaller seats. Budget airlines will do all that they can to fit more seats in to lower the cost of each ticket because that is the demand, there is also the weight limit which divides up into allocations for each seat or passenger, limiting how much luggage each passenger can bring. If you want more space, more leg rooms, more weight limit per passenger, you have to go with a plane that has fewer seats and hence higher price per ticket. Pretty simple concept. If she and every other oversized passengers get free extra seats or upgraded seats for free, everyone else has to pay more for their ticket to cover the costs. A 300 seat plane with 30 such cases means it can only fit 270 passengers each paying 11% extra to cover the 30 free seats.

As a retired airline Captain, CEO and owner of my own FAR 121 airline. We have a saying: "We lose money by dollars, we make money by pennies." There is also an old joke: "how to you make a million dollars in the airline industry. Buy an airline for $10 million dollars."
The Handicap bathroom idea is actually a good idea. But many small regional Jets ONLY have ONE bathroom. Ditto with small turboprops. Small Corporate turboprops or jets either don't have a bathroom or you have to move luggage around to get to it. How could the industry make a toilet seat to accommodate a 110 lb woman and a 650 lb woman? Every plane that had at least ONE Lav would have to be retrofitted and sheet metal has to be cut. (If you've ever started a restaurant without enough sinks in the kitchen...cutting concrete becomes expensive). It would probably be CHEAPER to start with the next generation of airliners!!!! And to Ms. Entitlement, EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD BOILS DOWN TO COSTS.
I've seen passengers board who weighed 600+ and it is embarrassing for them. But not because airplanes are designed wrongly...but because you ignored the Manufacturer's OEM Standards for Human Weight Limits! I flew Muhammed Ali one time and he needed some extra room. Many Pro Football players as well. Talk about a small room, I''m 5'4" and the cockpits are actually designed for pilots like me...I've seen First Officers who are 6'4" struggle to get into and out of the seats!!!!! Are we supposed to redesign the cockpits for LARGE pilots??? What about space capsules? Nuclear submarines? Coal mining equipment 5,000' underground?
Next year will she demand PLUS SIZED Roller Coasters with safety bars built to accommodate 600+ lb riders? What does she and her partner DO when they travel to a small country and the small hotel has a flimsy elevator that can barely transport just ONE of you???? 8 Billion people Mamm, the world isn't made for you. Sorry.
Next time I'm inline for a Zipline in Costa Rica and I see you in line...I'll let you go first and hide myself from the ricocheting 1/4" steel cable that is going to snap! Halfway down! Maybe contact Lizzo and get a Buddy Plan from Nutrasystems. Life is short...live as long as you can.
