A woman I worked with tried to do this to me last year. She claimed that while we were both working an overnight shift that I verbally abused her including using racial slurs. The rumor spread like wildfire and within 2 days I was on suspension pending investigation.
What she didn't know was that the entire time we interacted on the night she claimed this happened, we were on camera and I was on a recorded call with my husband. That means that I had proof that I had not said or done what she said I had.
I was still fired because "optics", but everyone who heard the evidence agreed that there was no way her accusations could be true.
I went to a lawyer who told me that defamation is insanely difficult to prove in our state and would be a financially draining endeavor, ending in nothing because this woman was broke asf anyway.
2 weeks after I was fired, the woman who accused me killed her boyfriend and tried to clean up the murder with household cleaning products and is now being held pending trial.
Sometimes people are just unhinged.

This is why I deleted Facebook and Twitter and never looked back. I can't stand the toxicity of social media. It is a cesspool of humanity's worst qualities.
As a black woman, my heart breaks for Morgan. I don't think I'd be able to sleep at night knowing I lied and ruined another woman's life. Even if Morgan did say that, is it really the end of the world? It's just a petty insult, that doesn't justify expelling her and tarnishing her reputation. As a society we've really grown less empathetic and tolerant towards people who share different beliefs and it's really sad to see, shame on the activist that lied on her.
God will find a way to work. Usually, the people that step over others don't live fulfilling lives while Morgan can live with a clean soul and conscience assuming she recovers which I think she can.
Bettinger wasn't expelled and she was able to complete her degree...

The sad part is, there's nothing she innately did wrong to criminally prosecute her over. All she did was make a lie and it ruined someone's life over it. I've witnessed this happen first hand. A girl in my dorm was accused of saying something racist. She was persecuted by the schools kangaroo courts, forced to take some bullshit sensitivity class and to write some essay. She was also forced to pay a $700 fine. They froze her student account until she paid the fine, essentially extorting her. It's sick what these schools and student bodies do to innocent people.

It reminds me of the incident that happened at my school this fall. Duke volleyball player claimed that someone in the crowd yelled racial slurs at her multiple times during the game. Tons of backlash and hate on social media, and the whole thing was investigated by the school and it was proven to be not true

This may be an unpopular opinion, but even if she had said what they accused her of saying, I still don't think that this is an offence that should warrant having your life ruined over. People sometimes say things they don't mean out of frustration, and while I am not saying that it would've been right to say something of the kind, I still think the repercussions for what they alleged happened were way out of proportion.
Now, as the accusations were false in this case, that woman should be able to sue the shit out of the person that initially spread this for the extensive damages this has caused her.

In a witchhunt, it's pretty much impossible to exonerate yourself. The burden of proof is inverted, such that you can't point to a complete lack of evidence. And if she had said exactly as reported, then so what? There's no explicit racial implication. And if you heard it as a threat, then she's in a car. If she had any intention of running you down, it's still something she could do.
That Jabba the Hutt and what she did should get plastered on social media, the very same tool she used to ruin that girl's life. Make that lying blob answer at the court of public opinion. Though frankly, she should face a real court and get a real sentence of real prison time.

Something similar happened at my college, BYU. At a women's volleyball game, a student from the opposing team claimed that students in the crowd were yelling racial slurs at the opposing team's black students. Of course, it got thrown all over the news and social media. BYU said that it doesn't tolerate racist behavior, and banned the student until it got more evidence. After looking at the video and audio of the game and interviewing fifty people that were there, BYU found no evidence to suggest that students were heckling the other team with racial slurs. They took away the ban, and some news stations reported BYU's findings, but the damage was already done. Some teams have backed away from playing BYU over the issue, even though the claims were proven false.
It hurts to see when other people lie and receive little to no backlash, especially when it hurts another person.

So much time, love, attn, money and everything went ALL TO HIS DAUGHTER. he asked work to quit giving him raises because every time he got one, HIS EX WAS BACK IN COURT AND GOT MORE THAN THE RAISE, meaning with natural COL inflation and his paychecks continually going down, they even tried to GET TO MINE AS A COLLEGE GRADUATED HIGH PAID VIDEO EDITOR!!
I also watched it countless times and knew countless GOOD MEN AND FATHERS who never got to even SEE their kids because of spite, but sure did PAY for em. Often the wife or gf CHEATED AND LEFT which should be a factor in child custody!

Reminds me of the whole story about the college girl who carried around her mattress for a year to signify the college’s lack of actions over her rape, which months and months later was shown to never have happened in the first place. Yet she still graduated with the mattress stint being her final project, and the guy argued that it shouldn’t have been accepted since her allegations were proved false. And so much other crazy stuff, that the media never covered again after their original stories.
