Blender needs a file path editor, packing is nice but I would like to see where textures ares stored and move them etc
I wish all 3d programs would offer that function. It’s a lifesaver
Yeah it would!

Ryan ........ can you do the same if you save it as a FBX file ? Great tut ........ didn't realize this excised.
Hmm, I just tried it with an FBX File and it doesn't seem to work.
COOL
Thanks Michael!
Tell me how to export fbx with material and textures. Please make a video
Very Handy 👍
Thanks 🙂
Could you show how to save a blend file into a folder....with all the texture files...like the Adobe illustrator function -'package' where it collects all the files and sends them into one folder together
I've never used Adobe illustrator, so I don't know about this function.
@@RyanKingArt ok like saving all the elements from the file into a project file, how to save a blend file with all its textures into a folder. "unpack into external folder"?
@@brendankeogh4669 I actually talked about that in the video. I show it at 4:23
Hi! Nice tip but i have interesting question. If i have in blender file some images created directly in blender by pressing "new" button in image texture node - this images are not packed or unpacked files, so i need to go to image editor and manually select each of them and press "save" to make an external image. Is there a way to automatically save them all in blender file directory?
Hmm, I'm not sure. Not that I know of. But there might be a Blender addon or something that would do that.
This is the only way I know of as well. Would be a nice time saver to find a way to do all of them at once.
Why can’t I pack all now? It only lets me do one at a time?
How I can save fire simulation plz and make paths relative for it😢
not sure how to do that at the moment, but maybe I can make a video on that sometime.
@@RyanKingArt
Thanx Bt I discovered a way by checking the box of relative paths in the domain simulation save file ❤
@@mostafagamal612 Oh cool! 👍
Hi I have a question! And I think my issue may be related to this. I spent about 3 hours last night working on my first real blender project. It turned out so good and I was so excited to continue. But I come back this morning and my save file is missing my last 3/4 of my work objects. And all of the textures are super low resolution.(that part might be related to this but maybe not and you might know what’s going on) it was really odd and disappointing because I checked several times before closing my file that it did save properly by opening a second version of it. And there were no issues. Is this a culprit of corruption? Or can my project be saved? I have no idea why it could have happened. Thank you for your time I appreciate any response you can give me:)
I'm not too sure what may have happened myself, but if you post this comment on reddit, someone might be able to answer it quicker.
How to Pack Videos too!?
Like Instead of image its a video on plane,,
So how to pack that video too?
How can i pack a video on plane!??
When pack resources the video,, but after sharing it still looks pink,,
Hello! I am not a Blender user. I thought the relative path was enough, for blender to find the textures.
You`ve saved the world from that purple color
thanks : )
Note, you cannot use this method to pack UDIM textures unfortunately. It's on the backlog...
Oh ok. Thanks for the info.
Big heart
Thanks 🙂
Stumbled about something weird, I have .TGA textures packed in a blend file, when I save or unpack them again, they are always darker than the original textures, which I have also access to (exported them as PNG, also darker). The difference is extreme and it makes them unusable and thus this entire feature, not sure if it's only TGA files that are the problem.
Anyone know whats going on there or maybe how to fix that?
The color management doesn't affect this behavior (the only thing I could think of/test)
Hmm that's weird. I have not used TGA format before.
@@RyanKingArt Must have been a prob on my end, it's working now, not sure why, weird
Hi Ryan,
The blender file unable to pack fluid simulation data. So, after packing all resources, when I am rendering in an online render farm, fluid flow is not coming in the rendered video. That means, it is not packing the fluid simulation data. Can you help me on this?
What if we want to export MULTIPLE objects in a file? it seems like there's some kind of limit, like 4 textures at once
Pack all into blend is missing :(
I think Blender got updated and this got changed a little. I think now its called "Pack All Resources"
help I don't have the pack all into .blend button
there is no "unpack all into files" option in Blender 3.2, is there a another way?
oh, it's simply called "Pack resources" now :D
Yeah, its changed in the newer blender version. I should make an updated tutorial sometime.
@@RyanKingArt kind of annoying though, changes like these are unnecessary and causes nothing but confusion. :/
Is it just me or when I try to open desktop files it does not let me
hmm, Blender may not be installed correctly on your computer.
i have fluid simulation in my blender file , as you said i packed the blender file and sent it to my client , he can see the textures and camera motions but he cant view the fluid simulation ..... can u find a solution for this??
Hmm, I would Zip the blend file along with the Fluid Cashe, into a zip file for that. Or you could also bake the simulation.
@@RyanKingArt you mean that, i should zip the packed blend file along with the cache file together..?
@@feelgood608 Yes. I think that would work well. You should be able to zip files with any operating system. Then your client can just unzip the file, go into the unzipped folder, and everything should work. Blender just needs to know where the fluid Cashe files are.
👍
Which OS ur using
I use Linux Mint Cinnamon.
I am gonna switch to it now!
Thanks for your response man!
can this method of exporting our products be sold?
and what is the difference with bake
Yes, if you wanted to, you could pack the image file data, and then upload and sell the 3d model on a 3d model site. But I would recommend also attaching the textures to the product file in case the customer wants them.
@@RyanKingArt thnks bro
Can you pack mp4 image textures??
Hmm, I don know. I never tried it before. maybe just try it and see if it works.
@@RyanKingArt yeah i tried it for cloud rendering but except the mp4 files everything got packed and that was a pain. So if there is any way for it u could share it.
@@darweeesh Hmm, yeah, I don't know of any way to pack an mp4 file.
how to export 3d model with multiple textures blender ?????
what are you trying to export it to?
@@RyanKingArt in obj format 3d model with multiple texture. Example - Earth model
Is this in blender 2.79!
No, this isn't 2.79. I can't remember exactly what version was the current one when I made this, but I think it was around version 2.9. I know it was after blender 2.8. Some of the settings have changed slightly in newer Blender versions.
I thought that this video would go over selective packing. I don’t find this very helpful.
Oh, sorry it wasn't what you were looking for.
is there a way to get textures out of a .blend file?
Bake your textures
Yes, you can unpack the textures to your computer as texture files.
not working :D
oh sorry its not working.
