I can say without a doubt that the time spent watching this video was the most productive nine minutes of my day. Thank you, many questions answered in just one piece of information.
now, this content is actually great! I love how u explain the stuff with a summarized yet meticulous method, which makes things more clear and catches the attention, all of this sum up to an actually infromative and efficient informative video. Best of all is that u bothered to make a video of something that is not actually popular among the Blender community, this means that it provides information that is not so popular, but useful indeed. Thank you so much!
Thank you soo much you saved my minecraft animation. I was working on a face glitch but then I made it worse and untextured everything. But I found your great video.
Yeah. I also learned this valuable lesson the hard way with the asset browser materials .🤦♂️ Now my Asset Browser material or HDRI blend file sits with all the materials or HDRI's. Just don't like having multiple project files with the same materials used in each over and over. Thanks for the detailed file structure info.
wonderful quality of explanation !!! thank you very much ! i was just experimenting with SBAR files from Substance and lost some connection as I was creating with some of them in my startup scene ! . hahaha! Good times ! thanks for sharing your knowledge!
You dont actually need to go into the texture folder. It will find textures recursively. Meaning it will search through child folders as well. Handy tip, add the find and report operator to your quick favorites. This is a much more intuitive workflow
i downloaded a model, i imported it as an FBX and it imports with no textures, i have not moved the files or folders and FInd Missing Files does not work, can u help me?
@@CGDive but as you showed, depends where the textures are located. If they are all aside of the blend file it's fine. When they are on different locations on drives, not so. Especially when you switch os's
What if i haven’t used any external file? In my case, I made some snow using the Real Snow Add-On, and it appeared magenta. I didn’t add any texture to it.
If you have more complicated project with a lot of missing texture all over your computer, you can also try the "Find missing texture" addon: blendermarket.com/products/report-missing-textures--fmt
does not work is my favorite comment. Especially under a 10 minute video that covers a bunch of stuff. We will never know what didn't work but I hope it felt good getting it off your chest ;)
I have added video On these planes,, But after sharing The file Video shows missing and Ponk,, though i packed all Resources,, All Texure work but only videos on plane shows missing and pink,, How to solve that,,Please help, I have zipped the file with videos too,, But When they Unzip the file and open the blend file Video still missing and pink Please help🖤🥺
What if your scene refuses to actually find the files? What could be going wrong if it doesn't relink the files? I've saved my scene. It's in a scene folder in a main folder and my textures are in a texture folder in the same main folder. I've told it to make all my paths relative. Which worked just fine. But then I tell it to find all the files and it just all stays pink. I don't understand. I've spent all morning fighting with this. :|
Ok I downloaded blend file and it doesnot come with any other file, some of the textures are pink and I think I can't get it because i only have blend file made by someone else
I'm also not seeing the "BASE COLOR" and other paths are not showing up in the bottom menu under Shading... I tried a few files and it's showing up on none of them... T-T I have used nodes selected. Does have a solution as to why it's missing I'm also on MAC?

Thank you!! I replaced my computer and reassigned all of my textures into new directories. This video is a blessing.

I did say that in the video. I see what you mean tho.. you can point to the upmost project directory and Blender will do the rest. Fair point.
Thank you very much! That was useful!

Amaranth addon of Pablo Vazquez has a much more intuitive panel for missing textures
its shows the nams, where its used, what material it is used in etc etc.
Oh, I didn't know that. I have the addon enabled but I only use a tiny fraction of its features. Will check it out.
thank you

Though in general, its is stated that relative paths can be a huge mess.
Where is it stated?

I don't know but consider assigning the textures manually if it doesn't work for some reason.
Ok I downloaded blend file and it doesnot come with any other file, some of the textures are pink and I think I can't get it because i only have blend file made by someone else
:(
I can't get find missing files to work because .dds format is not supported. sad.
:(
find missing files doesnot work for me. i have to manually apply the texture for each and every mesh.
Sorry to hear that. It should work but I’m not sure what is going wrong.
@@CGDive 😞 ok thanks
What do you do if you don't have the missing textures anymore? Is there a way to just load the model without textures so you can re texture them?
You can't import the model without textures but you can simply replace the broken ones.
I'm also not seeing the "BASE COLOR" and other paths are not showing up in the bottom menu under Shading... I tried a few files and it's showing up on none of them... T-T I have used nodes selected. Does have a solution as to why it's missing I'm also on MAC?
i guess you mean "image texture"
