@@jamiro5307 I'd say it is not aggressive enough overall. Maybe it's supposed to be like that because the average player won't enjoy it for long, but I certainly want the cars to scream like in AC for example.
@@jamiro5307 The cars do not sound wrong, they lack depth and low frequency exhaust sounds. The sounds are better quality than previous Forza horizon games, that is for sure
I don’t know how to feel with the overall sound to be honest. The grunting noise from the cars sound a lot better but the high pitch whining noise might ruin it for me. Will take time to get used to it.
That high pitch whine is the racing gearbox. You don't put that in, then you don't have to deal with the whine.
My biggest pet peeve is that some cars still sound very digitized and processed for example the McLaren 720S and the Ferrari 599X Evo. They almost sound like they’re being played through a digitized tunnel and not coming out of an actual exhaust. Plenty of others sound better though.
Also, transmission/shifting behavior. Sounds so off for some cars like the Hellcat. It’s a big American V8 and it does not sound like that when shifting gears lmao

Yes, in some cars the gear changes are quick and crisp and in other there is a delay. Like in the Audi R8, it shouldn’t have a delay, it has a DCT S-Tronic. The delay would be more realistic for non dual clutch cars. Like ZF 8 speed for example. I find it annoying that there is some little delay when it shouldn’t be there. There is power lose between the gears for a moment.

I believe forza has kinda missed out on is having a nice grumble to the cars. Like some of these cars there’s distinct bassy notes we hear from them that makes our skin just get satisfying chills. I feel like forza has missed out on that.

it's because of the upgraded transmission, it's not everywhere as soon as you don't upgrade it
@@aneshuremovic6199Thats the sound of straight cut gears, not specifically a sequential gearbox. straight cuts hold more power than helical gears but are noisy, this is also why reverse is noisy in all manual cars

I love how tail lights make a glare at night or when braking, it looks so cool.
The main improvements don't just come from the cars themselves, but the other enhancements too involving ray traced audio (stupid name but the devs used it). It feels more like you're actually in a spacious and realistic world when you can hear the environment having influence instead of there being almost no change as you drive in different areas, like is the case with older horizon games.

@@NBA_SPOODSTAR more variety would make it larger but adjusting volume wouldn’t affect storage or game size/requirements. My biggest gripe with every Forza game has always been the nonexistent idle volume. You should be able to hear a muscle car lumpy idle, hell, even GTA does a better job at idle noise.

they did increase the sound mate, now your brain just has to understand that the turbo is infront not on the back. its obvious that youre gonna hear more exhaust when youre following the car. youre gonna hear more engine when toure in the interior or hood of the car :/
This horizon game from what we’ve seen is a huge improvement. From visuals to sound. When the car is up shifting into the next gear it sounds natural. The skyline sound is a huge improvement though i wish we could make jt sound like Grid 1/2 skyline. One thing that still needs an improvement is the backfire on all the cars.
Apparently they just reused the GR Supra sound for the Skyline R34 GTR. You can even hear the DSG farts on the Skyline.

It‘s definitely an improvement. But it still isn‘t the blow your pants off improvement, which I‘d hoped for.
And maybe I‘m just a little biased, but the racing game with the best noises was and still is Project Cars 2, at lest for me.
The noises were just so defined. They had so much gargle, throat, grease, oil, dirt, grime, banging, popping and poise in them.
Grid 2019 was good with it too. They NAILED the Brabham BT.
Yeah they still sound off. They are better, but still not comparable to other racing games.
@@sauceboss2210 Yes, there have been a lot of failed attempts. But I feel like we can kind of forgive them, due to their huge car list. I still won‘ forgive them for butchering the Jaguar F-Type and Eagle Speedster / Jaguar E-Type. Those are the car noises I am most familiar with and since Project Cars 2, they haven‘t even gotten close to sounding right anymore.

Not gonna lie a few of the fh4 sounds pretty good, but this is just a overall improvement great job to the audio guys.
I appreciate the effort they put into improving the sounds, but I'd be lying if I didn't say some of these examples were a downgrade. The R35 shown in the video is a pretty good example of this. The familiar angry roar of the vr38dett is nowhere to be heard in the fh5 comparison. It was surprising, and pretty confusing. I'm hoping the reason was because of the modifications on the cars in the fh5 comparisons, or because it's a month-early build, but either way I'm still gonna play the fuck out of this game like I did fh4.

I would've liked it more if they re used the First Forza Horizon Zonda R sound for this game. And made some bigger, angrier turbo flutters. Like a Group B Audi Quattro S1 😁
In FH5, car sounds change when upgraded. This guy upgraded all of the FH5 cars which is why there is so much transmission sound and some car sounds are weird.
It literally sounds like every single car on five is building boost or has a sequential I think the overall car note sounds better but I don't understand the building boost and sequential sound if the car is stock?
Most of the cars shown were not stock. A lot of them were modified with turbos and/or exhausts/other mods.

I really wish they focus on transmission sounds, like on dual clutch cars (or any automatic) sound is a little rubbish. It may be complicated because of the physics engine, but if they can get it right and make gear changes seamless, it would make a huge difference
Yeah dude NO game ZERO make DSG sound correct. I think forza use a one type fits all for their physics and engine/gearbox model, they simply just adjust it to suit the car but the gearbox is simply a manual type gear box, they have tried to make DSG but speeding up the gear change but thats not enough to sound like DSG in my opnion.
The c8 has a pretty good sound overall you can tell it’s a dual clutch

I think the sounds themselves are better but im not sure why the engine sound itself is so low pitched.. It should be waay higher especially for V12 engines like Aventador / F12 etc. I hope an exhaust upgrade will make some difference, imo the only 2 cars that sounds really good here right away would be the TT Huracan P or the R34 GTR.
I think the fact that EVERY car shown has fully upgraded transmission making the iconic loud “whining” of the gears is drowning out the pitch of some engines. The transmissions shouldn’t be maxed out so you can hear the engine better.
The C1 sounds from FH5 has to be an engine swap. The C1 came stock with an inline 6 and that 5 version for sure has a V8.

Yes, when a single clutch aventador does it then yes. But when DCT cars like the audi r8 putter on gear shifts, it absolutely annoys me. Really reminds me of the crew 2 gear sounds. Every single car does it. I want those aggressive quick shifts aswell.
@@otrz8009 it’s the fact that they have yet to implement car specific manual/auto transmissions controls. If every car could shift like their real life counterpart we could stop using manual with clutch on everything.

@@otrz8009 finally some car lovers here … the pops and the upshift are terrible.. a single clutch or manual can sounds this irregular (LFA / Reventon/ 430s) but not all the Dual clutch cars (70% of the game).
For me the reventon still sounds better in Forza Motorsport 4 (2010) than the one in FH5

Nfs is trash and has been. I dont need drama i want a next to none killer open world drivier. Not a bs franchise. This game needs major work imo. I didnt wait this long for what seems to be an add on for fh4.
They need to sort out the crackling sounds and the Intake sounds pretty sharpish. Wouldn’t mind a exhaust treble/bass/volume tuner a bit like NFS heat’s ether. They should also let you make your own sounds by importing a video file or using your microphone too.
They should also let you change how long it takes to shift cars in fine tuning (only lower values allowed though clause otherwise it would be O.P.)
Im still waiting to see if they release a physical “premium” edition!

Im großen und ganzen sind die Sounds besser geworden. Bei manchen Autos sind die Sounds leider gleich geblieben da ist dann nur das Sounddesign anders gemacht worden. Was mich persönlich aber immer noch stört ist diese falsche knallen bei Fehlzündungen. Da hätten die Entwickler sich was deutlich besseres auch einfallen lassen können.

people are saying that some cars sound not that great at not perfect, and i do agree not all of them are perfect but keep in mind some of the fh5 car gameplay is the cars with upgrades on them which can make them sound a bit different. like the hurricane had upgrades on it and wasn't actually the stock car. im also pretty sure the 720s had an engine swap and thats why it sounded like the cenna.

Horizon features I wish were paid attention too.
More than one car in forzavista & on the garage home screen, actual purchasable/customisable/arrangeable garages/driveways/workshops attached to player houses.
FH3 style ai convoys revamped to be able to cruise with cars from the player garage, GPS following and ai “faster” “slower” commands. This would have brought free roam to life in Horizon 4.
Editable grids in every aspect, so we can can have actual fun racing opponents rather than dull grids of stock cars, customisation including the selection ai of each opponent (aggressive precise etc) the upgrades, the name, but most importantly the car and livery of each opponent, Full customisation for opponent cars was needed in every Horizon but yet never added.
More “forza” customisation parts that fit on virtually every vehicle even if its just more spoilers, also more original car parts specific to each car that aren’t aftermarket customisation just different spec choices like you get to choose when you buy the car for real, like the Jeep Cherokee has different official bumpers from high and low specs, more of that.
Also manual camera positioning, an action cam, 900 degree interior wheel rotation, chrome etc stickers and stickers on glass, private lobbys with custom descriptions, Season, Weather & Time of day selection for free roam not just custom races & Downloaded liveries and tunes being editable.

The 53 Corvette is a bit incorrect, you still had the stock engine in your FH4 clip, the horizon edition in FH5 is V8 swapped.
Some cars were tuned also (M4) it changes the sound

The backfire is weak as hell, never been a fan of the more arcadey backfire from Horizon 3 and onwards

OMG the 720s and everything else sound is on point props to the forza team, they did a great job for the sound design.
Gtr 35 sounds better in horizon 4 to me

I'm curious. There seems to be a muffler effect with the stock cars and I like it. I hope it's part of the modification sound redesign as well.

fh5 sounds so raw! they've could improve the editing as well as soon they released the game. but, nice improvements for the audio on fh5.
In my opinion not all sounds look that great I'm FH5 but at least majority of them are better than fh4
What's so difficult about engine sound for certain developers, every car seems to have the same pitch. Its kinda annoying and not impressive, because then we get the same issue as FH4, some cars sound good but others sound nothing like the car. Hopefully it's just because all the cars were upgraded

@@BeLikeNexus The developers obviously did when they created Horizon 1 and 2, just listen to the 599xx on this video for christ sakes then make an small effort and compare it to the first Horizon. They need to hire that crew back asap, its becoming just sad and disrespectful to the car companies at this point

@@JoJo-br6yq You're forgetting one small fact about the developers of Forza Horizon. Playground Games didn't develop all the Forza Horizon Games. It was *Turn10 Studio* (Developers of Forza Motorsport) who developed Forza Horizons 1, 2 and 3. Playground Games' first Horizon game they developed was 4, and now 5. They can't just "hire the crew" from Turn10 when they're developing the Forza Motorsport reboot. They have their own Projects going on. The reason why they gave the IP to Playground was to alleviate pressure on making 2 games at once, so Turn10 can focus on Motorsport while Playground works on Horizon every few years.

As much as I love the transmission sound I hope its only some race trans upgrade because I don't want all my cars to sound like racing cars.
You gotta think though they can’t perfect every car in the game with the way it sounds but at least they made most of the cars sound better and I think they did a pretty good job.
The sound of need for speed games in just incredible its super realistic even fh2 had really good sounds i just dont understand where it got so bad why the car sounds got so dull and false…

Two things I could pick up from this video. 1, the transmission whine sounds identical to NFS. And secondly, these aren't much better. Assetto Corsa has much better sounds and the modding community makes better engine sound mods than Forza do. Really disappointed tbh.
The game has over 500 cars, and that's just at launch. Getting each sound perfect would make the game size go through the roof
@@DAventador44 Assetto Corsa has more cars lol... however much storage space you have in your computer is the limit of cars you will have to drive. Name another excuse for them to come up with after 6 years.
@@yhelloh the game doesn't have more cars. Without any mods there's less than 100 cars. Yes, there's hundreds of mods for it but the base game has less than 100 cars. Keep in mind, horizon 5 has to run on the base Xbox One with all the new features, some graphical improvements and 500+ cars at launch
@@DAventador44 again, nothing is stopping them from letting users control graphic settings on console, such as allowing the shadow quality to be turned down or off. Not sure what mods have to do with it, Assetto has more possible cars than all the forza games and that’s not even up for discussion. Not to mention the amount of circuits you can drive that are LASAR SCANNED to be perfectly identical as the real life circuit. Not to mention I can throw on my VR headset and hop into my sim to drive F1 cars around COTA. Now, compare Assetto Corsa to Forza. Assetto doesn’t have a big of business as Forza does, so why are they outperforming Forza in every aspect except sales? Because they actually LISTEN to their audience. And don’t say “console optimization” because Forza has been on PC platform for years now.
@@yhelloh Assetto's unmodded car list is not even a fifth of Forza's car lists. I don't care what the modding community can do, the vanilla game has a tiny car list compared to Forza games. Assetto's console and PC versions have *HUGE* differences, while forza games are made to give everyone roughly the same playing field
Yea, the sound has improved on fh4, but surely they not gonna release the game like that. The engines still sound unfinished with lack of depth, and a weird sense of distance between the engine sound and the car itself

You can’t blame FLG for that. Most of the clips he used were from someone else’s early access so that was all we really had to work with. It bothered me that so many people who had early access would just max out everything which would give you higher than stock redlines and unrealistic straight cut gears
