FH5 apparently bounces the sound off objects so that’s why you hear some echo here and there. FH2 sounds like you are in a recording studio, no echo.. nothing. FH5 definitely adds an “umph” if you know what I mean. I have an 2018 M4 comp. If I rev the car inside my garage it’ll sound close to FH2, when I drive it it sounds a little closer to FH5. Y’all get what I’m saying?

Whoever captured the FH5 game clips really needs to record the sound of the stock cars. Aftermarket cams make them rev higher than normal, and the transmission whine is just unbearable. Comparing stock FH2 gameplay to videos of modified cars isn't ideal, but I gotta hand it to FLG for doing his best and throwing these big compilations together. Big ups, you've sold me on FH5! 💯
That stupid whine you hear is because half of these cars are tuned and not stock. Why would they use a race transmission for a direct comparison? Plus a preview build to a final game isn't the best comparison either as people have given alot of feedback that 100% playground games is fixing as all the new changes in FH5 were because of the community. I don't get why the sound clips have an upgraded car sound for this type of video. It isn't really a fair comparison because the car doesn't sound that way when it's stock it is kinda annoying but it will sound much better when the game is out :) because it will be final
The detail of the wipers in Horizon 2, pushing the water and leaving that line of water across the screen, is something I didn't see in any Horizon game ever since.
I like the sounds in FH5, they're really good but there is not enough exhaust sound. There are so many other sound effects that it just cancels the engine noise. I hope you can turn the sounds sown so the exhaust sound is better.

Facts, I see too many people call fh5 sounds bad even though most (not all) sounds are authentic, sound better overall, and have better sound quality without sounding artificial.
the problem is they sound too robotised, they have no deep tone or bass, wich lets the cars sound kinda empty, idk how to explain. well and the flames/bangs are broing and unrealistic, just one lil whoooshflame for every car
They've always used real car recordings, it's just that how the methods of recording and sampling translate to the game, which is something they've nailed in FH5
You guys are forgetting the fact that when you upgrade the exhaust and air intake all of that affects the sound now the developers said it a while back they change how the car sounds
The sound changing from upgrades has literally been a thing since the first Forza Motorsport game. The only difference is that it’s never been advertised until this game, and now you can preview the sound change before you buy the upgrade.
There's some cars in FH5 that just sound muted. The Audi RS4, the McLaren P1 and the Carrera GT are some examples. Hopefully it's just the captures, but yeah.... The balance of sound is just way off with some of them.

The b8/b7 rs4s are pretty muted irl, they sound like low frequency bass when revving, but with an exhaust system like capristo they sound more throaty and louder. The backboxes on audis lowers the sound to much irl. Backbox deleted 4.2 v8s sound so much louder and aggressive

@@danielwolfe4169 you are lying to yourself. everywhere you look in that map it's filled with beauty, not to mention the amazing driving roads, small twisty streets, great weather effects, a proper 1 mile drag strip, the docks which were absolutely perfect for drifting/meets, and an actual highway running through the heart of the map that you don't have to slow down for. name any of these things that are present in horizon 4, please.
@@Schnooblers yeah it's pretty but you can't go off the road for more than 20ft in most places without running into some arbitrary railing that for some reason cuts off huge chunks of the map. H3 had a way better map than 2 imo.
FH2 sounds cleaned up and enhanced like they took the recording and isolated the engine/exhaust notes from the track and then turned them up. Whereas FH5 sounds more realistic in that the mic captured everything you would hear if you were standing there with your head over the engine bay in the garage or sitting in the car driving (stock)....not standing on a sidewalk as the drives by. To me anyway.

Not a bad thing, just the differences I pick up. My old STi off the dealership lot sounded just like FH5s in the video and not like FH2s (which sounds like an actual stage 2 tune with full exhaust just short of an external wastegate)

Except in FH2 nature is nearly silent and all cars sound like they're in a studio not on the open road. FH2 may have better engine sounds here and there but FH5 just has better sounds period
the high pitch sound is better but is not realistic for the 918. In fm6 they used a combination of the high and low pitch sound of the 918 in its sound there.

I really like the engine sounds in FH5, they feel more intense, even if some of them aren't completely accurate (the Carrera GT sounds like it doesn't have a proper exhaust and the Hennessey Venom GT sounds as if it has a flat plane V8).
@@Veketi_ 99 percent sure it’s the sound file for the 488 Pista when it comes to the Venom. They also swapped the sound files for the 97 Civic Type R and 01 Integra Type R.

Yeah the car sounds on FH5 are still kinda sus, a lot of the hyper cars have a hiss to them (i.e McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder).. They don't sound like that IRL, FH2 is a lot closer..

i LOVE how when you shift up in fh5 the rpm bounces and doesn’t sound forced and 100% smooth like in other forza games. if that makes since idk, but i just think of need for speed when you launch and your rpm bounces everywhere when you shift into 2nd or 3rd

FH5 sounds are a great upgrade from the previous FH4 sounds, but somehow I feel like they lack on the low/mid-low end and FH2 seems to do a better job on some cases. Still, nice to see the devs team listened to us

If you play on PC, thankfully you can do that. But the bass will reflect in all PC sounds. I did that with FH4 and that improved the sound.

@@danielwolfe4169 you are lying to yourself. everywhere you look in that map it's filled with beauty, not to mention the amazing driving roads, small twisty streets, great weather effects, a proper 1 mile drag strip, the docks which were absolutely perfect for drifting/meets, and an actual highway running through the heart of the map that you don't have to slow down for. name any of these things that are present in horizon 4, please.
@@Schnooblers yeah it's pretty but you can't go off the road for more than 20ft in most places without running into some arbitrary railing that for some reason cuts off huge chunks of the map. H3 had a way better map than 2 imo.

FH2 is great, but boy did they nail the sounds at FH5, amazing! I think FH2 and FH5 stand out to be the best sounding Horizon's yet.
FH2 sounds cleaned up and enhanced like they took the recording and isolated the engine/exhaust notes from the track and then turned them up. Whereas FH5 sounds more realistic in that the mic captured everything you would hear if you were standing there with your head over the engine bay in the garage or sitting in the car driving (stock)....not standing on a sidewalk as the drives by. To me anyway.
But the mic didn't capture everything, they added it in pos processing, you can hear any of the cars shown that most of them sounds closer in fh2
@@Swartkin It was more as point of comparison than literal, but I agree that FH2 sounds closer as it is the actual sounds, it's just devoid of almost everything else you might hear of in person. Not a bad thing, just the differences I pick up.
My old STi off the dealership lot sounded just like FH5s in the video and not like FH2s (which sounds like an actual stage 2 tune with full exhaust just short of an external wastegate)
@@Shift4g you know that in the rear of the car you hear almost none of the engine right? in FH5 you hear the exhaust + the engine, which is terrible for accuracy, check out some flyby videos, the transition from the back to the front is immediate, it's not that the sounds of the game is bad, they are just polluted with crap

Except in FH2 nature is nearly silent and all cars sound like they're in a studio not on the open road. FH2 may have better engine sounds here and there but FH5 just has better sounds period
When a game's budget is invested in the right things.
I will not miss that too aggressive sound some of the FH2 cars have, however the 918 and carrera gt are a big downgrade for FH5.
the high pitch sound is better but is not realistic for the 918. In fm6 they used a combination of the high and low pitch sound of the 918 in its sound there.

I really like the engine sounds in FH5, they feel more intense, even if some of them aren't completely accurate (the Carrera GT sounds like it doesn't have a proper exhaust and the Hennessey Venom GT sounds as if it has a flat plane V8).
They could have put the wrong sound files, like they did with the 350z and the e46 M3, It kinda sounds like a Jesko, but idk
@@Veketi_ 99 percent sure it’s the sound file for the 488 Pista when it comes to the Venom. They also swapped the sound files for the 97 Civic Type R and 01 Integra Type R.

McLaren P1 sounds way better in FH2 in my opinion. Much more similar to real life. FH5 uses the newer McLaren V8 sound which is wrong

Yeah the car sounds on FH5 are still kinda sus, a lot of the hyper cars have a hiss to them (i.e McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder).. They don't sound like that IRL, FH2 is a lot closer..
The hiss is the upgraded transmision, gives off sequential vibes, dude should have kept the cars stock.

i LOVE how when you shift up in fh5 the rpm bounces and doesn’t sound forced and 100% smooth like in other forza games. if that makes since idk, but i just think of need for speed when you launch and your rpm bounces everywhere when you shift into 2nd or 3rd

Most of the cars shown for fh5 are not stock. They have race transmission upgrades. That's where the straight cut gear sound comes from

People are saying that some cars sound shitty and quiet, and I do get that but trust me, when you actually get into the game with a headset on, upgrade the car to how you like, you’ll love it.
FH5's car is like they turn the volume down and those american muscle cars in fh2 has that unique kinda rumbly sound when it's not reving
