Then give us car sounds that sound good and are satisfying on a shitty samsung sound bar because most gamers don't play on 500 dollar audiophile headphones.
FH4 sounds are just using generic engine sounds for every single car. Not one car in FH4 sounds unique. The moment you start to put upgrades on your car, it becomes even worse. They have a great sound engine (sound reproduction system) but it's all gone to waste when they put absolutely zero focus on the car sounds. Generic sounds, using pitch modifiers on every car, on every car engine you swap. They're not fun to listen to at all.
LaFerrari, F12 tdf, 488 Pista beg to differ. Granted, they are either newer cars, or cars that actually received a patch in the first 1 to 2 years when the game first came out. After that, they said fuck you to their engine sounds and just quality control in general
An other detail in fh2 that, if the car has like 4 exhausts next to each other, it just backfires in one or two of them, not from all at the same time 17:44
Some exhaust systems have valves that close some sections if there isnt enough pressure running through. My bmw used to have 2 exhaust tips and only one would be permanently open. When i get my foot down the valve for the other one would open and let it flow better (and sound better). It may be that.
I bet the meeting regarding the sound desgi went something like this... Playgrounds sound designer "Okay let's just use one sample of I4, V6, V8, V10, V12, Rotary we'll just pitch shift it up or down and add a turbo or supercharger noises here and there, The Car nerds that play our game won't notice a thing"
That is actually how it is done, they have like an excel spreadsheet for every car which mixes sounds together. With the steam launch you are able to mod Sounds by changing that table, search for it on yt.
@@marcusbrady5011 they also did it for the Nissan skyline, but the problem is they put the microphone at the exhaust so you get a lot of wind noise and that distorts the exhaust note. You hear this in a lot of the FH4 car sounds which is really bad.

@Dev King I dont care as much about realism, but if a car has a weak engine sound in a videogame its just a shit experience. You dont need to know what the real thing sounds like to know what sounds good to your ears.
@Dev King I disagree; GTAV is a big example of engine/vehicle sounds really bringing the experience down. There's seemingly no limit to gears, and its monotonous. Sound design is equally important, if not more so than video design.
@@johnhenry9453 It is rare that a car game has bad graphics, for example the classic assetto corsa has graphics from its time, that is, old, and it does not mean that the game is much better than gran turismo sport or forza motorsport 7 or project cars 3, due to its physics, its number of vehicles (including obvious mods). or for example you can grab forza horizon 2 and although it has less graphics than nfs heat but fh2 it is better thanks to having more cars and better driving physics, graphics are not a priority (obviously if it is a game that looks like 2002 it is already another topic hahaha)

For some reason fh4 has almost no bass/low to mid range frequencies in the car sounds. If you have a surround sound headseat go and play one after the other if you have both games and just focus on that. I can't wrap my head around the fact that the issue is that simple.

Rs3 and Aventador are really realistic IMO

Some exhaust systems have valves that close some sections if there isnt enough pressure running through.
My bmw used to have 2 exhaust tips and only one would be permanently open. When i get my foot down the valve for the other one would open and let it flow better (and sound better). It may be that.

It’s not even that good. There were no samples in fh4, all of the engines are 100% synth. Worst part is so was fh3 but somehow they got worse.
That is actually how it is done, they have like an excel spreadsheet for every car which mixes sounds together. With the steam launch you are able to mod Sounds by changing that table, search for it on yt.
@@darkchild130 they did actually record real sound for the McLaren Senna but that may have been the only car

1 physics
2 number of cars
3 tuning
4 sound and graphics
@@ArielAG19 graphics is like 2nd important matter to me… i can’t play a game with potato graphics cmon, graphics brings realism to the game
Why was every sound in fh2 better and more realistic plus, the amount of sounds copy pasted from car to car in fh4 smh
Because they had a better sound designer. His original work is completely copyrighted to him, so unless Playground gets specific permission and likely licensing, they can't use the sounds.
I’d say the LaFerrari is pretty similar. But aside from that.

Fh4 sounds are just so flat and uninspiring, in my opinion I think they should make the sounds more loud and more aggressive
For some reason fh4 has almost no bass/low to mid range frequencies in the car sounds. If you have a surround sound headseat go and play one after the other if you have both games and just focus on that. I can't wrap my head around the fact that the issue is that simple.
@@utvoltz1728 Exactly. It boggles my mind how little bass there is in the car sounds, yet if you open the menus/map it makes this crazy bass-y transition sound effect.
