As a guitar player that sings, if someone said I could sing like anyone who has EVER sung....EVER... I'd pick Mickey Thomas over EVERYBODY! His is truly God given. You can learn how to sing to some degree but you can't "learn" that. It's just magical...
Love it, didn't rehearse, just jump right onto the mic. That's talent. "Should we go on" Hell yes...undoubtedly the best thing to come out of that studio that day, those vocals are incredible.
Saw him a decade ago in Orange County California at the Annual Hot Air Balloon Festival. Starship opened and then David Clayton-Thomas fronted Blood Sweat & Tears in the nightcap.
Haven't seen or heard Mickey in years. Used to hear him all the time when I worked for Jimi Jamison and Bobby Kimball. Mick has a great voice that ALWAYS delivers. Good to hear that talent again. Nice guy too.
Mickey was one of the most underrated male rock singers in history, right along side Brad Delp from "Boston" Great vocalists, rip Brad...taken from us too soon.
First concert that I can remember 1991, Daytona Beach, July 4th free concert on the beach, Jefferson Starship! I was 7years old. Mickey Thomas absolutely blew the crowd away! He sang, to this day, the best rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner that I have ever heard
✨That’s how it’s done, ladies & gents... ✨ Daaaayumm, he’s amazing, impromptu many years after the original release of that classic. Let’s also give it up for his guitarist/back-up vocalist. 🤩👌🏼👏🏼🤟🏼
Yes, Mickey still comes to Epcot every year and he still has that incredible voice! Howard should get him in the studio and interview him again- Lots of interesting stories I bet.
Micky is 70 now (2020). How could he still sound that good in an interview setting and not a studio? Amazing. Before Starship, there was that great Elvin Bishop song...love it.
His full name is, "Mickey I Don't Need No Stinkin Autotune Thomas". He's from a time when people could actually sing without a computer's help. That's why it sounds better and has more feeling! (And still, you kids call it "progress")
I see Starship every year. Mickey still has great pipes and the band as it stands now put on a great live show. Stephanie Calvert - singing Grace’s parts - is also amazing.
I got goosebumps when Mickey started to sing! What a voice that guy has! Wow!
Same but with tears. 🙌🏼
Mickey Thomas will be 70 years old in a few weeks. He still has it.
Damn he can sing. Its like studio quality voice straight out of his mouth...wow
That's not a voice, it's a complete sound system... Holy f**k that gives me goosebumps!!
Damn, man. Mickey walks in cold off the street and just BELTS! I admit to not loving Starship but Mickey has pipes that could fund a Catholic Choir.
What a voice! No hesitation. Just demonstration. Noice.

Basically this is your perfect constructed pop song. Still holds up to this day.
Still! That's amazing, he always had perfect pitch and still does.
That’s a soulful singer there.
Mickey Thomas is one of the greatest singers out there. I've been on a huge Starship kick lately!
Saw him a decade ago in Orange County California at the Annual Hot Air Balloon Festival. Starship opened and then David Clayton-Thomas fronted Blood Sweat & Tears in the nightcap.

That is talent.

In live performance he can give it the kick or emotion he's feeling that separates it from the studio version. Mickey has a serious set of pipes.
