His roommate in college was Mickey Thomas, who sang lead on this track. Never ever heard this song but now im hooked what voice this guy has wow
....I saw Elvin Bishop and just hit ‘like’ auuuutomatically....one o’ the best jams EVVVVAHHHH:)!!!
I am just old enough to remember watching The Midnight Special when I was a little kid....had to be up kinda late to catch it, but little did I know how much that show would have an impact on me as an adult, haha.
I actually sat up with my brother one night in 1974 watching The Midnight Special when Kiss made their debut. WOWWWW! 😮
My man is getting down on that guitar. Elvin Bishop straight up showed out on this performance.
Love this song 💘 and that is Helen Ready going him (I'm women).. Love you Jamel as always another great reaction.
Back in the day you went live on the Midnight Special. No hiding, no gimmicks. Just straight out wicked live performances. So many great ones back then. Doobie Brothers had a great show also. Don Kirshners Rock Concert was another banging show.
The "sheriff" is Elvin.Check out "One bourbon, one scotch, one beer", where he supports George Thorogood.
Marianne Graf love that one too!
Elvin Bishop started out as rhythm guitarist in the Paul Butterfield Blues Band - Mellow Down Easy is my favourite song of theirs.
You had me almost falling off he chair laughing when you said at 3:18 that Mickey Thomas' outfit made him look like after he finished singing, he was going to go change the oil on the car in a gas station! Great stuff! By the way, your comparison to Mungo Jerry's sideburns to Kareem's Lew Alcindor era sideburns was priceless. You have great comedic timing!
good god - what a stellar performance!
Those bell bottomed jumpsuits were IT!
The woman singing harmony needs a nod too!
He got me when he says he'll just "tear out that page!" Just tear it out!
So cold, so cold..
That denim jumpsuit! I had a couple of older great-uncles who wore those “coveralls” to work in the yard or garden....
Jamal: You should do Fire On the Mountain", "Heard It In a Love Song", & "Can't You See" all by Marshall Tucker
Heard it in a love song is easily in my top 3 songs ever
I thought fire on the mountain was originally a Grateful Dead tune.
Heard it in a love song was me and my wife's song back when we were dating.
Toy Caldwell wrote most of Marshall Tucker's songs, but George McCorkle the rhythm player wrote Fire on the Mountain
"Can't You See" is probably one of the most heartbreaking songs ever recorded.
I saw him in concert when the song was new. they we're so good. incredible live. Elvin was so good on the guitar that it was an extension of his own hands. great stuff
When you started to describe those outfits, I spit my soda out all over my keyboard. Too funny my man!
Love his voice! Sara, his song with Jefferson Starship is one of my favorite
Elvin is in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame from his work in Paul Butterfield Blues Band. This may be the best overall live performance on the net.
Mickey Thomas is a great singer, moved on to sing for Jefferson Starship, then just Starship. Great high tenor
Never seen this live version of this amazing song before. 2 legends: The great Southern Blues guitarist Elvin Bishop, and the amazing blue-eyed soul of Mickey Thomas, a good ol' boy from Georgia, who would of course join Jefferson Starship just 3 years later.
Mickey has brown eyes
@@bobo44donemilking51 It's a figure of speech.
@@patriciameyer8798 I was being sarcastic
One of the best male singers of the 20th century.
I fell in love real bad when I was younger and it was sad, heavy, dangerous, good, sweet and righteous all in one. This song captures it and is the only way I could explain it.
Never get tired of this song. Elvin Bishops guitar and Mickey Thomas's voice do it justice!
What an awesome set of pipes Mickey had in his prime. Beautiful, strong and clear , effortless vocals. One of the best of his generation and one of the best in pop history. PS- - I grew up in this era. Hated those jump suits then and still do. Tommy Shaw used to wear one on stage as well.
I agree
Gino vaneli -just wanna stop,
and walter Egan- magnet and steel
david walker Yeah, and another great Gino Vannelli song to react to would be a live version of Brother to Brother.
Magnet and steel great song. Lead singer had a look a little before his time.
Mickey Thomas, what voice. We wouldn't think twice about their clothes!! We wore the same. 😁❤️
Your reactions always make me smile! This was a great song to evaluate! What magical vocals … these guys could perform!
This is my mom's jam, she said "turn that shit up!" Hehehe
Thanks for the reaction, you're too funny. I seen a girl wear the same blue jumpsuit hehe
Always loved Mickey's vocals - couple big pop/rock hits featuring his vocal talent with Jefferson Starship you need to check out :
Jane ( a seriously fun rocker ) and No Way Out
No Way Out! She's doesn't buy my story ☺
Jerry Petrillo Find your way back is another good one.
Came back to this a year after I first saw your reaction and this song is still as special as the first day I heard it (way back in the day) and the first day I saw your reaction. ❤️❤️❤️
OMG..the most beautiful voice..my favorite singer of all time!!
JJ my brother I've watched this video over a dozen times not only because it's a tremendous song but your reactions absolutely crack me up more each time. I hope all is well with you and whatever you do, don't change.
