Hi Britt, Back in the day, singers & groups had to perform "LIVE" on The Midnight Special and this showed the world whether you were good or not; there was no lip-syncing or hiding behind your studio recordings and definitely no auto-tune!!! Needless to say, if you performed well on the show your record sales would skyrocket; but if you performed poorly your record sales would tank!!! In other words they had to deliver the goods!!! Thanks for this reaction too, because as you can see & hear Elvin Bishop & his band did their thing!!!
Love The Midnight Special. Mom and Dad would let me stay up late to watch it. Check out Manfred Mann, Blinded by the light on Midnight Special...they nailed it.

Listen to the studio version of Jane from Jefferson Starship, which was the band he later fronted after The Elvin Bishop Group. Incredible.
I love how Mickey Thomas simply walked away from the mic after he was done singing. Mic drop. Basically saying, "Oh yeah, I'm bad." "I know it." Absolutely incredible!!!

I have such a special memory of slow dancing to this in a bar late at night after working the evening shift. We played it over and over on the “ juke box” until the bartender said enough already. Great song but let it rest a few he said. Yes, I am old, 68 , was in my early twenties at the time. Robin Bishop was great and this song made me a huge Mickey Thomas fan forever.
