Elvin Bishop was the guitarist in this band. The lead vocalist, Mickey Thomas, is one of the great, underrated vocalists of his time. If you want to hear how awesome he was as a singer, react to "Jane" by Jefferson Starship.
Hi Britt, Back in the day, singers & groups had to perform "LIVE" on The Midnight Special and this showed the world whether you were good or not; there was no lip-syncing or hiding behind your studio recordings and definitely no auto-tune!!! Needless to say, if you performed well on the show your record sales would skyrocket; but if you performed poorly your record sales would tank!!! In other words they had to deliver the goods!!! Thanks for this reaction too, because as you can see & hear Elvin Bishop & his band did their thing!!!

Back in the 70’s the was a music style called “Blue-eyed Soul.” Music that was a cross between pop, rock and soul music was strong in the 70s. It started with the Righteous Brothers in the sixties. But, Hall & Oates were the Kings of “Blue-eyed Soul” from the 70s-90s. I FOOLED AROUND AND FELL IN LOVE and others like BABY COME BACK by, Player; YOU’RE THE BIGGEST PART OF ME by, Ambrosia; I’M NOT IN LOVE by 10cc; even I CAN DREAM ABOUT YOU by Dan Hartman in 1984 are other examples of the enjoyable “Blue-eyed Soul” music.
I was lucky enough to grow up in the 60's and 70's, and we would have loved to have you with us back then. And I think you would rock either of those jump suits! There was just an amazing quantity of amazing songs covering numerous genres back in the 70's. There was something for everyone. The singer also sang with Jefferson Starship one of the greatest voices ever
Micky can sing his ass off, effortlessly cranking the notes.

I love this ! I was 18 years old when this song came out !!!!!!
I was 14, we all had been waiting for the Midnight Special for three or four days before Saturday night because NBC had run the commercial talking about how Elvin Bishop would be on. My mother, grandmother, & I happily watched them!
Excellent choice!! One of the great songs!!
My Jr. and Sr. High school days! Absolutely LOVED the music and artists we had! Some of the very best times ❤

It’s full of soul!!! And nobody can say this song doesnt feel good!
I was 14 when this came out. The 70’s were so amazing and I was very fortunate to grow up in this era.
You're already amazed at the music, and you have barely scratched the surface! It's so much fun to watch you discover that era of music that many of us older people sometimes take for granted. Really enjoy your reactions! Please keep up the great work you're doing!!!
He's Mickey Thomas, guitar is Elvin
Jane by Jefferson Starship is another great Mickey song
