I'd go for an SIV course now and get some emergency situational awareness so you don't freak out while in a twist or something like that. Please dont ground start. That prop can kill or severely maim you. By far the largest source of severe injuries in the sport. If its not on your back or in the rack, dont start.
@@ChuckyWright you can, yes. Should you? Not unless you have 3 things: 1) a clutched motor 2) a prop strap and 3) a safe start system. If your gear doesn't have these, then ground starting is just asking for trouble. Ask anyone who said, "Sure, you can ground start if you know what yer doing!" and then they end up chopping themselves up because maybe they overprimed a bit and the engine revs up and turns the motor into a blender. They'll tell you it was the dumbest mistake they've ever made. FB forums are FULL of people that think ground starting is OK - only to learn the hard way. It's just a really, really bad idea.

Super cool man. I love being in the air! I lived in Florida for 20 years and I never thought of flying a Paramotor. I've flown a Sessna plane at the Lantana Airport in West Palm Beach and rode the Sky Coaster in Kissimmee, the highest in the world. I still return to Florida to see friends and family. I'd be interested in meeting up on my next visit. My parents now live in Cocoa Beach.

I have a major fear of heights I won't take a plane anywhere but I would love to be able to fly like a bird or super hero.. I love watching base jumpers with the wing suit because it's the closest thing to flying even tho u are falling so fast at an angle.. buy this here seems so calm and comfortable and in control I am speaking from the ground but I think I would definitely try this.

Just curious, but where did you buy your equipment? I know it's perfectly legal to fly without certification, but everywhere I look, everyone selling wants to see it before they'll sell to you (even eBay!). My plan is to buy a training wing (certification not required for that at least) and just go at it for several months while waiting for an opening in training. However, if there's no availability in my area for years, it would be nice to know I have an option B.
No one wants the liability. When I did my training the stuff I signed was all about absolving liability. I wish you luck but ground handling is the biggest part. Practice that at the beach or somewhere with consistent wind and the rest is fairly easy after that. Learn the FAA rules and become a weatherman and you're there.
People are idiots they hate to see someone else enjoy themselves and yes Facebook marketplace ir like I did I got mine off kijiji and I'm also self trained these things are easier than riding a bike
@@paulb7334 yeah 2 grand n up for training is just ludicrous price gouging! After all you have to learn ground handling even after they "teach you"! And lets be real when you take off you better have confidence you know what your doing training or not because their lil radio isn't gonna save you! With that said if you make sure your proficient before leaving the ground your all good or as good as you can be before getting more experience. I wish someone would do some kind of non profit type business to help drive these training prices down, it would really grow the sport tremendously and people could make cash off of actual tangible product sales rather than I will tell you my secrets for 3 grand. What a sham!!!

Im told to not have trims all the way in (down) when taking off. to have them at least a inch up. is this true? or it doesnt matter?
all the way in is the easiest take off profile but you have less input when it comes to brake pressure.

this is Florida and the more you bring trims in the slower you go but the less flare authority you will have

My plan is to buy a training wing (certification not required for that at least) and just go at it for several months while waiting for an opening in training. However, if there's no availability in my area for years, it would be nice to know I have an option B.

No one wants the liability. When I did my training the stuff I signed was all about absolving liability. I wish you luck but ground handling is the biggest part. Practice that at the beach or somewhere with consistent wind and the rest is fairly easy after that. Learn the FAA rules and become a weatherman and you're there.

@@paulb7334 yeah 2 grand n up for training is just ludicrous price gouging! After all you have to learn ground handling even after they "teach you"! And lets be real when you take off you better have confidence you know what your doing training or not because their lil radio isn't gonna save you! With that said if you make sure your proficient before leaving the ground your all good or as good as you can be before getting more experience. I wish someone would do some kind of non profit type business to help drive these training prices down, it would really grow the sport tremendously and people could make cash off of actual tangible product sales rather than I will tell you my secrets for 3 grand. What a sham!!!
@@flyingtime5501 there is no secret to flying these things if your not a idiot and fly not try to do lopdeloops just make sure the wind is verry low till your usto to ut and fly every day it's good to go
