"Noooo that would never happen!" "Um, actually, they're wearing xyz type of armor, so this is what would really happen." "Broadswords are designed for ___, so blah blah blah." "___ type of warrior had ___ training, and therefore would stand no chance against ___ type of warrior." Just admit it, the only experience and knowledge you have of sword fighting is when you pretended to be a knight and had sword fights with sticks in your backyard with your friends when you were 9 years old. It's okay to not be an expert on everything, it's okay
You’re so right. These are the same people who instantly become doctors when talking about diseases and pandemics, and who magically become constitutional lawyers whenever there’s a pressing political issue at the forefront.
It doesn't take a sword expert to tell you that a rapier is not deflecting a broadsword, in the same way it doesn't take an arborist to tell you that a stick isn't going to deflect a tree branch. It's called common sense. Use it.
Brienne beat ser Jaime who is supposedy one of the most skilled knights in the 7 kingdoms. Shackled and starved but still she beat him. She beat Ser Loras in a melee. Ser Loras is considered one of the most skilled knights in the seven kingdoms.if not thee most skilled knight. She beat the hound in single combat. Sandore is considered one of the best most savage fighters in the seven kingdoms.she beat 3 Northerners fighting all at once snd killed them all in a few seconds. She beat 3 of the bloody mummers shagwell, Timeon of Dorne and pyg at the whispers. But Arya is at very least equal to Brienne’s skills in this scene? I don’t think that’s believable faceless man or not.
In pure skill, I can accept some level of parity, but if either fought in reality, their fighting styles would be so vastly different that either they'd realize how different their approaches would have to be and not duel at all, or Brienne would obliterate Arya due to how much stronger she is in a straight-up duel. Arya was trained by the best assassins in the world. She would probably never actually meet someone in combat head-on. Like, I get the point of this scene, but Arya's Needle should never have touched Oathkeeper. She doesn't have the strength to even slow down that much metal, or the muscle behind it. Her whole existence in combat would be to *_avoid_* exactly that.
@@DeathsHood Totally agree. But on top it wouldn't be actually that easy to do so, because in reality even a bigger sword isn't actually that heavy (maybe around 1,4-1,6 kg) and there is absolutely no need for such big predictable swings...

One of my (maaaaaaany) fav scenes ❤
I love how impressed they are with each other
No way needle is blocking that broadsword! Especially it is valyrian steel.. and arya is master assasin.. but brienne spend her life dueling and beating larger boys.. hell she even beat hound and jaime those are top top 5 swordsman! Well even injured that is a feat...
She’s built like a man which gives her a huge advantage now add that with her sword and armor and Arya would’ve been dead in two seconds
Not blocking but redirecting , it’s a style of fighting Westerosi knights aren’t very accustomed to (i assume lmao)
@@whitewaltersbet4872 strength of brienne+ weight of the sword+two handed vs little arya with one hand.. to be able to redirect that force you need to have same or greater force... Unless you're using a shield.. which requires much less force to deflect...
@@sigxm5thumb just keep believing that.
@@whitewaltersbet4872 ju jitsu with swords. Use their momentum against them.
I love this scene, but that superhero pose she pulls was just so 🙄
"You can't use that, mylady, it's too small"
*finishes with a smaller one*
Aria has been my favorite character since she put the arrow in the middle of the Target in the first show. Her and the hound. I'm glad they became friends
Mary-Sue of Winterfell
Arya would have lost, not because of lack of skill but purely because of her height, if she tried to jump Brieanne was holding her arm down. would have come close though. They just had Brieanne lean forward to make it closer, she probably wouldn't have done that if it was not scripted. Sucks since i like Arya better but oh well.
Actually she would have been dead in the first second because she underestimated Arya!
When it's real you don't get do-overs....
@@scottbatey3130 This was a sparring match not on the battlefield, i don't think Brieanne would have underestimated her if they met in open battle.....you know since they are both women it kind of takes the surprise of finding one on a battlefield if you are one...
@@johnpaullaizure7330 well she wouldn't have done it twice
I love the hushed chill and shower felt by Brienne ,Sansa,And Peter when she was asked who taught you to fight and she replied "no one".
I so loved Arya Stark & she was such a good actress ✌🏾👊🏾 🥰
Sorry, but i doubt a rapier would be to stop a longsword just like that
I think Needle is a smallsword, not a rapier
Did we even saw Arya's fighting skills after this scene?
The entire battle with the white walker army. She fought in that.
She killed the OG white walker
@@mymak-jq1hy You know nothing Krucek.
@@mymak-jq1hy fought like a mad cat!! The mountain was beat and had all but given up till he saw ripping, cutting, slicing and just being plain down right mad at those demons. Love her so much. Wish I could get daughters like that!. 🥰🥰
The smile at the end, loved their dynamic
Just cuts Arya fuckin head off like "whoops gotta alot carried away there"
"I'll try not to cut you" - proceeds to then make gigantic swings at ayra's head with mere luck that ayra rolled out of the way
There were many ‘favorite’ moments watching - this iconic - top 20 playing.
great sparring scene. both got the upper hand, yet they both had so much control neither cut the other. arya hit her with her needle, bri knock Arya down with her strength, but they both had so much control that they were able to stop in order to not hurt each other. great fighters.
that rapier is not blocking that broadsword.
She's not blocking it she's deflecting it.
@@mr.mercury4247 she ain't deflecting it either. its going into her side with the broadsword.
@@mattwatts7008 it a longsword, & a sparring one. Plus, we know they're test sparring. It's not like Brienne is going full force
@@AvelUnderWill the thing is literally called needle, its very thin and shape like a rapier made for a little girl shes not deflecting shit other than another rapier. she had best dodge if anyone puts force behind it because she's getting disarmed or slammed.
I still have no idea where she learned those skills.
Arya literally fought with a woman while she’s completely blind lmao
She trained to be a faceless one.
Watch all 8 series. You missed a bit.
That look after her sword was thrown screamed "Im not done yet"
Favorite scene in the whole series , wish it was longer
It's so hilarious to me that every time there's a video with a sword fight in it, everyone in the comments instantly becomes a highly educated expert and scholar on sword fighting and medieval combat.
"Noooo that would never happen!"
"Um, actually, they're wearing xyz type of armor, so this is what would really happen."
"Broadswords are designed for ___, so blah blah blah."
"___ type of warrior had ___ training, and therefore would stand no chance against ___ type of warrior."
Just admit it, the only experience and knowledge you have of sword fighting is when you pretended to be a knight and had sword fights with sticks in your backyard with your friends when you were 9 years old. It's okay to not be an expert on everything, it's okay
You’re so right. These are the same people who instantly become doctors when talking about diseases and pandemics, and who magically become constitutional lawyers whenever there’s a pressing political issue at the forefront.
Check out Adorea sword fights here on RUclips. And then come back and watch this mess again. 😉
It doesn't take a sword expert to tell you that a rapier is not deflecting a broadsword, in the same way it doesn't take an arborist to tell you that a stick isn't going to deflect a tree branch. It's called common sense. Use it.
Arya is the best character by far
I don't no about that. I like the dwarf and her so very much.
The age old question knight vs assassin. Also love how she kept to Davis’ style too. Dodge and parry vc blocking.
My girl! Favorite character in the movie. Now she is a badass!
Never noticed before that Arya is left handed.
that's a HUGE THING ... Maize is right handed.
@@Xarx42 That is also true, and it's a direct departure from the way we've seen Brienne fight up to this point.
She bests several world-class fighters with her skill, agility, and finesse, but here she's suddenly a brute swinging around a prybar?
Maisie looks so beautiful here and she rocked in this role Arya 🥰
Two of favorite character by Game of Thrones! My Heroes! ❤❤
This scene is a joke, just look at the size difference in the swords 😂. Needle is a kids sword
Arya is kid sized 😂
@@stevenwallace773 thank you for proving my point
Neither of ya proved shit... the fact that needle doesn't break is kinda a better point
@@jordonby are you dumb? Needle can not take the full force of a broadsword
Bigger ≠ better lol
this is hot AF
I like how Brienne must be convinced to let go of carefulness ♡
I always liked Arya from the beginning when she shot the arrow when bran was trying. By the end of the series she was my favorite character.
Idiotic scene really, no one practices with the live weapon, plus Arya went to school for like what, 5 minutes?
The Dancing teacher who defeated 5 with a wooden sword?
Also, a fucking fencing blade vs a broad sword in the way they are doing it is... stupid.
Broadswords are for fighting armored opponents. The blade is thicker and heavier to get through and do damage.
Fencing blades are for personal defense and you know... fencing.
Also Brienne would have and should have whooped her ass.
Brienne beat the Hound and I'm sorry, Arya ain't beating the hound.
The last two seasons were such trash.
She went training to be a faceless girl at braavos
Casuals...
Juan, she did have some training but the bravos thing kinda speedlined that for no reason
John. Yee but it was mostly just conditioning and mental training
Colin. Colin my guy, being blind and getting stabbed then thrown into swage water is not training
And Curt... you could be talking too anyone, be specific with your negative energy my dude. Im pissed at you and i dont even know who you where talking to
I rather watchBozo's Circus
Agreed
Look in the mirror and see first hand a Bozo
Freak'n nice that dagger hand change!😮
Probably my fav scene in the whole show
I've attended several job interviews just like this, one was stacking shelves nightshift at a supermarket chain.
I miss this show. That look she gave when she got up❤❤
I think of the knife drop in this scene as Checkov's Gun. Since we see it here, it adds credibility when she uses the same move on the Night King.
I love that Arya ran from kings landing and arrived back in winter fell a ninja
I could watch this all day.
