Being a South Indian, I've started listening to Bengali songs recently and never expected that I would love them ❤❤ I'll explore more.😊 Please like my comment when this song is available in Spotify 😄 so that I'll get notified 🙂 Edit:- Those who want to start giving lecture about music and language, please understand my comment properly.
What’s being South Indian got to do with not listening to other kinds of music exactly? Music is one language and one soul. It has no cities or boundaries. It’s a spectrum of creativity.
@@Anton661 Well please keep your lecture to yourself ❌, if you don't understand my point! I'm not saying that being South Indian, I won't listen to other kind of music🤦🏻♂️. It'll take sometime to start listening to Music in a language other than your mother tongue. Duh!!! I listen various songs in various languages but never had a chance to listen Bengali songs till now. THAT'S MY POINT.
Shabnam is an exceptionally gifted arranger, if this suite is anything to judge by! Absolutely stunning! As a singer myself who mostly performs music of the Western European Renaissance, I have also had the privilege of learning and singing music from the Arab Christian tradition during years of working with a Melkite choir. While I will always love the music of my own heritage, I fell deeply in love with the sounds of the Middle East, and that opened doors for exposure to music from other parts of the world, including music from the countries of South Asia. There is something in the tonality of these music traditions that speaks directly from and to the heart. I deeply appreciate the sensitivity and artistry it took to capture the authenticity of these three Bengali pieces while relating them in a contemporary idiom. Thank you, Shabnam! I can't wait to hear more from you. Thank you, Voces8, for all the work you do to preserve musical tradition, elevate music performance, foster and advance artistry, and generally, to build and promote a culture of beauty through music. Lyyra, your first album is at the top of my wishlist!
The sopranos are perfectly arranged. The base raga is Megh malhar with the minors hitting just the right spot. Add a little bit of strings and watch it reveal.
This is great. I watched the first Lyyra video and was honestly a bit bored. The group sang well, I just felt "Meh." But this made me sit up and take notice. I really hope they go on to do more world music -- it is vastly underserved at the moment!
This vocal unity is needed now more than ever. When all around us, gravity leads the fearful to conflict, such beautiful resonance and a deep listening of souls, has the power to rise above differences and unite and embrace diversity. 2:46 .. stunning arrangement!🙏
Have already heard it more than 20 times on loop and each time I hear it it is giving me goosebumps! And it certainly has healing powers. It sounds like pure magic.
The composition is ethereal! However, kindly change the description as Bengali music is from Bangladesh and West Bengal and not just Kolkata in the WB region. The bauls, bhatiyalis, jhoomoors, all go way beyond Kolkata. ❤
@@opukhan-dk8fd Kindly read the video description before responding. It says "Bengali music refers to the music of Bangladesh and Kolkata (West Bengal region of India)". It is to this that I referred to in my comment, saying it doesn't only refer to the music of Bangladesh and Kolkata but includes music from other parts of West Bengal as well. Bengali music from India isn't only confined to Kolkata. For example, if someone says Bengali music refers to the music of West Bengal and Dhaka, that would be wrong as well, cause it includes music from all parts of Bangladesh.
Outstanding and inspiring performance of music that evokes pure connection with the Divine. I shared it with many people... classical music is wonderful, but adding this kind of tribute to other equally spiritual traditions is a gift to your audiences. Thank you!
Thank you sooooo much for sharing this music and Bengali culture with us! I have been listening to this on repeat for the last few weeks! The harmonic language you used is beyond delicious!!! More please!
Shabnam please create more of this genre. As a bengali myself, I am so proud and happy about this representation.

@@venkatanithish7757that’s exactly my point. Music is only one language and your mother tounge should be Hindi.
I am a Nigerian. I can’t count how many times I’ve listened to this medley; especially the second piece. God bless you Shabnam!
এই অটো-টিউনের যুগে এক পশলা বৃষ্টি!! মাঝরাতে শুনতে স্বপ্নের মতো লাগলো।🤍
I don't understand a word of Bengali but this arrangement moved me to tears. Thank you. Love from Pakistan!
She described monsoon season.
You NEVER hear top ensembles singing this music! Thank you so much for sharing, I loved this!! Also, incredible arrangement!

Shabnam's voice is so powerful, listening to it at night just feels surreal. Glad I came across this.
Off-the-chain talent in this group! Can't wait to see where they go.
In my life, I’ve never seen a reorientation of Bengali songs quite like this… it’s truly beyond imagination. 🧡
These brilliant, talented women are going to create their own vocal innovations! The methodology of Voces8 grows before our very eyes….
It is acapella and is just right.
You just got a new subscriber from Trinidad (Caribbean)
This is the type of talent that should never stay hidden!

Only half through and it’s as beautiful as a dream!😊

Check out her Joni Mitchell performance. Such versatility. ☺️
I am speechless. The voice! Oh my god! The piece was devine. I cried when you sang the final song out of three. Goosebumps ❤
