@@liamflan9553 mean you’re paying the company no matter how many games you play a year. You can look at it both ways. Not saying it’s a bad value but it depends on the person. I bet a lot of people pay gamepass and they have a switch and maybe a ps5. So they aren’t just paying gamepass. If you were only paying gamepass and you never wanted to play other games then it’s probably a good deal. Not sure how realistic that is though. Either way people like the service.
I got 8 free games. Torchlight 1 some fun xbox 360 games and the zombie show game. My baby mom love me playing that cause the story is different than the show.
I actually finally just upgraded to the Expansion Pass two days ago. I’m pretty freaking happy with it. It’s no GamePass, but it’s pretty great. And super cheap for what you get.
@@Megamon0001, that’s still less than $5 dollars a month. The only reason people complained about the expansion pack is because they saw a big $50 and said “Nintendo’s charging too much money” without checking how much per month it is.

Don't forget the most important part of the online service: being able to play Japanese versions and previously exclusive titles with a Japanese Switch account. Getting rid of region-locking for the Switch is one of the best things that Nintendo has ever done.
One really cool thing is the treatment of Zelda. With links awakening dx, if you didn't get the switch remake, that version is a justifiable alternative. The switch can now play every console zelda game except for wind waker and twilight princess (still hoping for the wii u hd remasters to come to switch) and the cdi games (which nobody cares about). With Minish cap and the upcoming oracle games, we've got access to every portable zelda game prior to the ds. So of all of the zelda games, switch will be able to play everything that anybody wants except for wind waker, twilight princess, link between worlds, and I know some people like spirit tracks and phantom hourglass too. That's a ton of zelda.
You actually only need a Japanese acct to download the programs\get the free game trials. I added my Japanese acct to family acct but can use my US Acct to play snes, gb, nes.
Removing region locks was brilliant. I bought the Dragon Quest 1-3 collection and Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet, imported from Japan, before Dragon Quest was on on the shop in the US.
As someone plays all the games that they released DLC for on NSO i think it is absolutely worth it because in my experience im getting 65 dollars of DLC plus n64, gba and sega genesis on top of that but I still think it needs more games.
I'm more worried about the next gen console for Nintendo. I will be very upset if Nintendo makes me repurchase the digital games i bought for the switch. I would like to not have to keep my switch to play ACNH in the future. Hopefully all digital game purchases will follow us into the future.
You sell consoles after the new one comes out? Why? Those could be worth a lot in the future and it’s nice to have those older consoles just for the novelty. I do agree with you that backwards compatibility is the way to go though.
I've been a member of Nintendo switch online since almost the beginning. And I got the expansion pack as soon as it was announced as well. To me it's worth it and it's an even greater value than it used to be. First thing I like about it is that you basically have access to a great majority of the Zelda games on one console thanks to the NSO. In the future they can easily add other systems such as GameCube etc and possibly add wind waker and twilight princess to it should they choose to (since apparently no remasters). And if I want to visit my friends on animal crossing I have to pay for online service anyways so for me the service only gets better and better
Yeah, it is a really good online service, but don't you think that it's very expensive to get the expansión pack when you don't have friends to share, letting You pay a cheaper price?
@@allanazofeifaampie1557 I pay for the family plan by myself, it's worth it to me because my sister, nephews, niece, and mom can all play online with me. My boy is mistaken because you only get Nintendo and Super Nintendo for the $4 a month. to get everything else that has been mentioned you have to pay $50 for an expansion pack once a year.
It be nice to have messaging and voice chat natively on switch with online, at $50 a year why shouldn't things work like a modern console? It would also be nice to have expansion pass exclusive discounts on the eshop, gamers don't want find alternative ways to play around the service limitations, we want things to work and function basic communication options like the other consoles and have deals that make us wanna brag about how much we save.
But they left the 3ds to die even though if they really plan things out, the 3ds would of been so much better for the handheld games like some more Pokemon Games. Finding old games for any system will cost you a kidney and any body part.
I only signed up to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack recently because I was able to find 3 other friends with Switches to go 4’s up with on the more value for money 12 month Family Membership good for up to 8 Switches so it would even be better to one day find 4 more friends with Switches but we still saved a bunch for now!🤣
I have a family NSO Expansion pass subscription. I pay for myself and 2 of my sons. My brother pays for himself, his girlfriend, and another brother. 2 other friends pay for their acounts. So splitting the family plan 8 ways comes out to less than $11 for the entire year for each account. That's a good value.
Can you stop saying $4.15 a month that is actually a false statemen, please correct it. instead it is $50 that covers 12 months that equals out to $4.15 but you do not get the choice to pay monthly That's where I have the separation for their business plan and the commitment to it. I pay for monthly when I need it and want it My finances are limited and their business model has not given me any reason to trust them with $50. If that commitment works for you awesome but it is not a monthly subscription It is a year subscription that you are committed to regardless if you like it or not.
nintendo can easily put everything on their service making it 1000% more attractive. nowadays you can buy cheap chinese emulator machines that literally has thousand of games already preinstalled.
Zelda. If you didn't buy the link's awakening switch remake, the game boy color dx version is a viable alternative. With the release of minish cap and the upcoming oracle games, we've now got access to a ton of awesome zelda games on switch: everything anyone wants except for wind waker, twilight princess, link between worlds, and I guess spirit tracks and phantom hourglass are supposed to be pretty decent too. We've got a ton of great zelda games on switch, and I'm still holding out hope that they port the wind waker and twilight princess HD games from wii u.
It is pretty sad when you compare it to its competition. I think NSO had a very weak start but it's starting to become a decent experience for one year
$4.15 , probably worth paying when you have time to make use of it for a few hours every day. Probably not worth it if you don't have time to play on your Nintendo Switch for more than two hours every week.
You mentioned animal crossing but no mention of Mario Kart DLC for shame lol that in of itself right there has been worth the expansion pack everything else is a bonus
I’m okay with the $50 price. I only have to pay for it once a year and get to play games I missed out on as a kid…. Plus Nintendo has been adding more games to their og consoles. I I’m all about Nintendo
I am from a time when the number 1 rule was back up your data. So i only have the standard service for my game saves. I tried playing some of the old games from my childhood. They just don’t hold up compared to todays games.
Everyone that argues for the Nintendo Switch Online +expansion that compares it to Gamepass Ultimate forgets something, you get game streaming and you can buy almost all the games on gamepass something you cannot do with Nintendo's rental service. please stop saying you get something for free with what you spend, it might be minimal but you are paying for all of this stuff.
Think the thing that bugs me is the 'free' DLC, it's basically inciting you to buy the game to take advantage of a freebie you feel you need to take advantage of. Would much rather a focus on some free games even if not AAA nintendo releases. Also, I've purchased many of these games many times before. Do love how new gamers get a chance to play some classic games though.
You Have 6 Questions 💡 1- What is The Price of Nintendo NES Games on Nintendo Switch Online? 2- What is The Price of Super Nintendo Games on Nintendo Switch Online? 3- What is The Price of Nintendo 64 Games on Nintendo Switch Online? 4- What is The Price of SEGA Genesis Games on Nintendo Switch Online? 5- What is The Price of GameBoy Games on Nintendo Switch Online? 6- What is The Price of GameBoy Advance Games on Nintendo Switch Online?
Nintendo could win everything if they did this. “Nintendo online ultimate”. It’s 9.99 a month or $99 a year. You get access to the all the retro apps. And all contemporary staples right off the bat. (Mario Kart 8, Smash, Splatoon 3, Mario Party Super Stars, BotW and Mario Odyssey) Then monthly they add two switch titles. Starting small. (FE 3 houses, a Mario sports game) every 3 months one of the titles will be a more recent title from the last year. They have enough content to sustain that for years. The games will be yours as long as you have an active NSOUltimate account.
You forget 1 really important thing: Pokémon home. As you need nso for Pokémon home and with it the service is much more expensive. And When you take that into account, as well as the fact that not everyone have the games to play the dlcs with (personally I don't have mario nor do i plan to buy it anytime soon and I never played nor owned Splatoon as i don't want to start playing from the second or third game in a series (or the 8th one in case of mario paty) so I can't play those dlcs even with the service). Then all the expansion pack has to offer me personally is the very buggy n64. As i already bought the genesis collection from the eshop before the expansion pack was even announced. And with so little titles on the gba (without even a single Pokémon game). The service is just not worth it to me right now. Unless they will add all the Pokémon games with home connectivity or ds 3ds game cube wii or wii u games to the service as I never owned those systems I don't think I will ever upgrade.
The problem for me is I wish the would let me pay for the Nintendo online expansion monthly instead of making me pay $50 for the full year for the expansion and that’s pretty much why I didn’t buy it at first. $50 isn’t much but for me it’s much more affordable to pay $4 monthly for basic online then forking over that $50 at one time. I’m trying to budget right now lol. So I’m here like is it really worth it? Because I love game boy advance games .
I agree I'm not gonna play N64, Genesis and GBA games for a whole year I might just finish up their entire library and never touch them (the libraries are tiny)
NSO kicks ass. The games I mostly play are the games provided by NSO. That was the whole reason I wanted one when I could have a official portable N64.
Xbox Game Pass I tried it out on my PC it is good. Switch Online has gotten better, but Nintendo needs to do what Sony has done more release exclusive bangers. Switch Online should have Game Cube, Wii, Wii U, SEGA CD, 32X (both under Genesis), and maybe even Arcade games
Idk I’m a Retro game player. The old consoles that play online would be compatible with those retro games on the switch will be compatible the older console
I just got the 7-day trial of Nintendo Switch Online so that I could play the older games. Is that the one that has NES, SNES and Game Boy, and costs $1.67 per month? And then you have to pay extra for Nintendo 64, Genesis and GBA? Or is it $1.67 for all six of those systems? Even if it's only the first three systems, it's a good deal considering how many games it has.
I think that the expansion pack seems a little bit more appealing than I thought it was except for the fact that a full 50 bucks still is a bit much for me right now. Especially considering that you do get the DLCs for free, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 if it expires or aren't able to pay for it again because of having to get in real life necessities to well...live (food, housing, phone and internet bills, etc.), you'll completely lose access to them at all (assuming that if you haven't bought them already before hand). I do like how if you already have the lower tier of the online membership, each amount of days that you have on that subscription counts as 5 cents towards a pseudo-discount on the expansion pass so that if you're short on money, you'll be able to afford it. Since I extended my subscription (the $20 one) by a about a year and 2 months on right now, that gives me a $20 discount on the expansion pass, therefore making it 30 bucks to upgrade. Another year (or more) would be another $20 off and it'd be just 10 bucks, and so on. on the other hand, though, Steam on PC offers multiplayer for games that support it and the like just for signing up for a account. so...there's that ig
What is that talk about getting Mario & Luigi Partners in Time for free for 4$ ?! Where can i get that ? Was he talking about Superstar Saga on gba switch online expansion pass and he just said the wrong game ?!
for me its only 8,75€ per year, or 73 cents per month, i could fill my family group with friends, but also its easy with any discord cool community, for this price and all the stuff u and the other comments focus, its great for me, i have been with online since paying start, and any of us even think of stop paying it.. :D
Well what's really ticking me off about nintendo and their services is the fact that they still haven't had cloud saves for a Is collectathan game like pokemon because their excuses we don't do it because we're afraid that people will cheat. Will fix your Anti-cheat software so that won't happen.
There are no bad NSO Games The whole point of NSO is to have a game for every type of fan and to bring them to a new audience who wouldn’t have considered playing them in the past and if they only had games that appealed to you then that defeats the purpose just because a game isnt for you that doesn’t mean it’s bad
You're going to tell me with an absolute straight face that Tennis on the NES was a good game and worthy addition to the NSO library BEFORE mario bros. 3, or, like... any first party gameboy game?
This is kinda why I’m more okay with Tears of the Kingdom being $70. Expansion users will 100% get DLC free instead of an additional price of $20-$30 on TotK which is Nintendo’s biggest game release for Switch. Having the expansion means negating that $20-$30 price point for a service that essentially provides Nintendo and Sega’s legacy at a cheaper rate of its competitors. It seems that Nintendo’s main priority rn is long term investments via subscription. Tbh it makes sense. Subscription services are reliable and they can count on for steady growth, then going with general market trends for $70 a game only adds value since Nintendo isn’t adding additional pricing on their IPs via DLC. If you’re on the fence now, in like 1-2 years it’ll 100% be the case Switch Online + Expansion will 100% be worth it’s value even if you don’t think so now
Many say Game Pass price will likely go up this year with the release of games like Redfall and Starfield, $20 a month minimum now. Some think it could go to $30 a month.
I have a ps5,switch and game pass(spoiled I know) but if it wasn't for my son who likes a few games on gamepass I'd drop it and sell my series s. I play ps5 and switch and haven't even touched gamepass besides ninja turtles a while back. Loving all the classics on switch as I never dipped into the virtual console stuff so I'm loving going back and playing games I grew up with
I don't get people that buy a Nintendo console for Pokémon, i own a switch i own all 3 Digimon games so far and Pokken and that's all i need from Pokémon. A Pokken 2... Please Harada San?
7 formats... You forgot Game Boy Color. Also CD size is no longer an issue, what about Sega CD, 32X, Master System, Saturn, and Dreamcast? How about Turbo Grafx or Neo Geo? I would say Atari but they have a game called Atari Flashback
Why would the NES or SNES library not be the entire list of games? It's only worth it if you like the current list of games. Otherwise, emulator still better and free.
screw 4$ a month. I go on reddit, get a slot in some random family group and pay 10$ a year for expansion pack. Switch online slowly bettered it self the last vouple months, and if that trend continues I might actually feel compelled to pay more, but not rn. 10$ a year is worth it, but I don't think I'd pay more

Family plan with 8 people chipping evenly makes it like .84c a month.
Basically this video is selling you on NSO I suggest emulation and don't pay for a crappy online service.
nintendo can easily put everything on their service making it 1000% more attractive. nowadays you can buy cheap chinese emulator machines that literally has thousand of games already preinstalled.
Still waiting for Sim City for snes.
Yeah as well as NBA Showdown
It is pretty sad when you compare it to its competition. I think NSO had a very weak start but it's starting to become a decent experience for one year
🚨🚨🚨
Anyone else want another Diddy Kong Racing game 😩😩 or at least have the old one added to the expansion 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Would love to see more games added consistently.
$50 a year to play 10 n64 games? ll just go to emulation lol

Nintendo could win everything if they did this. “Nintendo online ultimate”. It’s 9.99 a month or $99 a year.
You get access to the all the retro apps.
And all contemporary staples right off the bat. (Mario Kart 8, Smash, Splatoon 3, Mario Party Super Stars, BotW and Mario Odyssey)
Then monthly they add two switch titles.
I agree I'm not gonna play N64, Genesis and GBA games for a whole year I might just finish up their entire library and never touch them (the libraries are tiny)
the most affordable compared to other services out there, in my opinion
If they add GC, and games I will play, I will pay the higher price, even though I already have the DLC for ACNH and Mario Kart.
NSO kicks ass. The games I mostly play are the games provided by NSO. That was the whole reason I wanted one when I could have a official portable N64.
Why is splatoon 2s off the hook symbol in the thumbnail
Oh I'm dumb octo expansion and how do you get partners in time we only have superstar saga
if you get the family pack and have 7 other people to share it with the cost will end up at 0.67$/month for each person
The old consoles that play online would be compatible with those retro games on the switch will be compatible
the older console
I just got the 7-day trial of Nintendo Switch Online so that I could play the older games. Is that the one that has NES, SNES and Game Boy, and costs $1.67 per month? And then you have to pay extra for Nintendo 64, Genesis and GBA? Or is it $1.67 for all six of those systems? Even if it's only the first three systems, it's a good deal considering how many games it has.
I'm 41 and I've just discovered this service. I'll have my switch in a couple days lol.
Zach your videos are really good and you made my day
Windows 95 on the backend! Not sure how off that is.
I’m addicted to Kuru Kuru Kurin on GBA NSO. Very pleasant game!
Yeah great one
I haven’t switched yet but if I can play old school Kirby and star fox n64 you’ve already sold me
What is that talk about getting Mario & Luigi Partners in Time for free for 4$ ?! Where can i get that ? Was he talking about Superstar Saga on gba switch online expansion pass and he just said the wrong game ?!
Wait a minute pokemon saphire on switch i would almost never play anything else
Pokemon crystal needs to come to the switch game boy service. That was my favorite game back on the game boy color.
for me its only 8,75€ per year, or 73 cents per month, i could fill my family group with friends, but also its easy with any discord cool community, for this price and all the stuff u and the other comments focus, its great for me, i have been with online since paying start, and any of us even think of stop paying it.. :D
Well what's really ticking me off about nintendo and their services is the fact that they still haven't had cloud saves for a Is collectathan game like pokemon because their excuses we don't do it because we're afraid that people will cheat. Will fix your Anti-cheat software so that won't happen.
I am just waiting for the expansion pack till they introduce pokemon games on the virtual gba
There are no bad NSO Games
The whole point of NSO is to have a game for every type of fan and to bring them to a new audience who wouldn’t have considered playing them in the past and if they only had games that appealed to you then that defeats the purpose just because a game isnt for you that doesn’t mean it’s bad
*Laughs in Emulation*
You're going to tell me with an absolute straight face that Tennis on the NES was a good game and worthy addition to the NSO library BEFORE mario bros. 3, or, like... any first party gameboy game?
*Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels would like to know your location*
What about games and Xbox for Nintendo
Rare LTD for Nintendo I used to love that games
And what about Nintendo GameCube and ds NSO
Maybe but redfall is ass
Still no button remapping, so it's a no for me
I have a ps5,switch and game pass(spoiled I know) but if it wasn't for my son who likes a few games on gamepass I'd drop it and sell my series s. I play ps5 and switch and haven't even touched gamepass besides ninja turtles a while back. Loving all the classics on switch as I never dipped into the virtual console stuff so I'm loving going back and playing games I grew up with
Nso is the best online service out there
Should I buy the OLED or wait there is new one coming?? Or buy steam deck
Steam deck is a good choice. You will get better games .
But in my own experience, you won’t get first party games and emulating them kind of makes me feel guilty
If you get the OLED switch. You can get retro games by the way with the Nintendo switch online.
Spoiler alert ⚠️ 📢 Nintendo is buying the steam deck and rebranding it as the next switch!
@@SleekFindsyou feel guilty over a multi billion dollar company
If on Pokemon day they announced that the gb/GBA Pokemon games are coming to the switch online then I will definitely subscribe.
I don't get people that buy a Nintendo console for Pokémon, i own a switch i own all 3 Digimon games so far and Pokken and that's all i need from Pokémon. A Pokken 2... Please Harada San?
Will get this after Christmas when I get my new switch
They really charge you 4.50$ per month or $50 instant fully charge? I’m confused
You can't pay per month that's just how much it would cost if you break down the yearly charge per month
@@The_MEMEphis thank you, I was confused
7 formats... You forgot Game Boy Color.
Also CD size is no longer an issue, what about Sega CD, 32X, Master System, Saturn, and Dreamcast?
How about Turbo Grafx or Neo Geo?
I would say Atari but they have a game called Atari Flashback
I wish they would get rid of the ugly borders when playing expansion games
Why would the NES or SNES library not be the entire list of games? It's only worth it if you like the current list of games. Otherwise, emulator still better and free.
also wouldve been EXTREMLY HELPFUL if you hadve listed all the games you get
Of course Zack. $4 bucks nothing with more coming but honestly still can’t stop Mario Maker 2. Over 100,000 attempts now.
When this service continues with switch 2 they gonna add DS and GC I hope
I doubt GC since that covers a lot of games that Nintendo rather remaster lol
Expansion Pack has been worth it since they announced Mario Kart DLC last year
I was all in once GBA was added
screw 4$ a month. I go on reddit, get a slot in some random family group and pay 10$ a year for expansion pack. Switch online slowly bettered it self the last vouple months, and if that trend continues I might actually feel compelled to pay more, but not rn. 10$ a year is worth it, but I don't think I'd pay more
The fact you can share you NSO subscription with 8 people it's cheap AF
