Is Nintendo Switch Online Worth It in 2024?

- Nintendo Switch Online has been lagging behind Xbox and Playstation's online service for many years, but the one thing Nintendo does have to offer is their exclusive retro games. Unfortunately, like always Nintendo is choosing to neglect a lot of their older IPs and take a lazy approach with this service making it difficult to recommend it to most people. With the expansion pack costing double the price of the regular service but still missing tons of classics (Pokemon, Donkey Kong 64, Super Smash Bros, etc) the need for emulation is now greater than ever before.
Though Rare's Jet Force Gemini coming to the service soon is a good sign, and Nintendo adding a Mature rated section for Switch Online in Japan could potentially mean titles like Conker's Bad Fur Day and Perfect Dark may one day be available to play on Switch, I'm pretty tired of waiting and wasting money on this mediocre service.

I hate switch online, you pay 70$ for a game and cant play online without a monthly subscription. This is total BS moneygrabbing
6:10 to further more your point, on 3ds (idk in other consoles) the virtual console versions of pokemon were compatible with pokemon bank (predecessor to pokemon home)
Btw they don't have those games so they build hype when they do come out, same thing happened with some Nes classic titles like Urban Champion and Golf which have been released recently and it caused lots of hype. The switch is coming to the end of it's life span so I feel like they are coming soon.

It’s trash but for $20 dollars it’s worth it for what they give you and that’s it. Want a better experience? Buy a 3DS, mod it and you’ll have access to all those DS, GBA, Gameboy, N64, Sega Genesis, NES, SNES, and PS1 games. I don’t endorse piracy but there’s a reason the 3DS is so hot right now. Nintendo is holding out on the consumer and robbing us by not pumping out these GBA games faster.

expecting mainline pokemon was straight up delusion.
At this point I definitely don't expect mainline pokemon games to come to NSO, however it seems like a huge missed opportunity that would take little effort and drive sales of the service through the roof

Eh, I think it's better for gamers (especially Splatoon gamers) to criticize Nintendo for paying online membership.
The more we criticize Nintendo for paying the online membership, the sooner Nintendo will remove those shitty things that everybody hates.

Never played nintindo growing up. So probably me personally gonna get the expansion pack just to expirence what made nintindo. Guess that's where their making the money? From suckered like me? Idk but if those games are as legendary. That's a hit in the balls for those hard-core fans. So I understand what you're getting at.
I would say NO. No decent RPGS No Final Fantasy No Dragon Quest or any RPGS that count. And what they do have I either own nor not give a toss about. The service is crap for RPGS and worse denying the Japan RPGS is not only discrimination but RACIST as well. If they are too much weak sauce not to supply RPG fans the games but supply to everyone else then its is a service where it's "Just say NO" fk THAT RACIST CRAP and FK Nintendo switch online
