- Physical Nintendo Switch games have always been expensive, and with it getting closer to becoming the best selling game console of all time there are many people looking to get into Nintendo Switch collecting. This video focusses on physical copies that are general releases you still may be able to find on some shelves and that I believe will go up in value as time goes on. Of course, these are my opinions and speculations and I am not saying this will definitely be the case. But if you are looking to become a Nintendo Switch collector, this is a good starting point.
I love the Nintendo Switch because it is really the first of it's kind (a hybrid), but it also has an excellent library of first-party games.

I don't think it's so much "novelty" of the Switch that puts games like Skyrim and Dark Souls in demand, but the fact that it's the only way to get them in cartridge form, which, remembering well the dynamic of cartridges vs discs in the 90s, very much matters. Cartridges and cartridge slots are just hardier than discs and lasers/motors.
I'm always reluctant to do these kinds of videos myself because I hate the idea of helping speculators, but it's good for people who genuinely want to get certain games in their libraries before it's too late.

Maybe, but for me it’s a bit of the novelty 😅 That was actually the main point of the video (aside from it being a pretty hot topic these days). Eventually all of the games I mentioned will only be available from re-sellers, so if any of them seem interesting it’s best to get them now. I ordered PlaneScape/Icewind last night because I finally found it at a good price!

Totally agree on the skyrim souls etc...I would grab the metroid games for sure as old ones are almost all pricey as well as Arms (first party new IP with low sales)

i saw p5r for 25 bucks during black friday at my local target. i came close to picking it up but i already own it twice lol
Yeah maybe it’s just here in Canada but past month I checked every GameStop close to me (like 10 stores) and they were all sold out of it the whole month, plus couldn’t find it on eBay for a good price. The Persona games on the DS are going for a decent price too rn. I just think JRPGs in general will likely go up in price over time
Same with Nier automata
The xenoblade series will be more expensive in the past since the definitive edition ran out of print and 3 will end up like that not too long from now.

persona 5 royal been on sale numerous times since it came out for 20 bucks under retail price
I mean I couldn’t find it in stock anywhere last month though. It can be “on-sale” but if you can’t find a copy in store or online it’s not really on sale. Could just be Canada though, some games just go out of stock here and then become super hard to find haha
Bayonetta 1 will probably be expensive too, because of its limited physical release.

Only do-able on the Switch gen 1, but yeah with digital media taking over a lot of people choose to do that

For most games I recommend doing that!
Stop paying for price-gouged items and just emulate/rom.
I don’t mind paying retail price for a game, but if it is ends up going way up in price of course I’ll emulate
Or don’t stop paying for price-gouged games if you really want them. Emulators give the developers $0.
Some people like collecting things. It’s no different than comic books, baseball cards, classic cars, stamps or any other collectible.
