    Why are the digital versions still $60 tho? All the 2D Mario games should be $19.99 by now with Wonder out.

      Why would they? Mario Games are distinct and aren’t competing with each other. Older Mario titles are still $60 experiences.
      Ages doesn’t magically make a game cheaper. These are precedents set by other companies over time, and they make sense when the yearly CoD replaces last year’s, but not in this case.

    Been gaming on PC my whole life. Started playing Nintendo games for the first time in my life one year ago and this is the best experience especially during these sad modern gaming times. As a 30+ years old, they looked a bit "childish" but man, they packed the old joy of gaming that I always enjoyed. Buying second hand is what I do now, and normally sell the game the same price I bought it with. Never buy digital games since you can't sell them after you finish them.

    • @HolyGrailGaming
      @HolyGrailGaming  9 месяцев назад +4

      Exactly, I’d say 80% of my pretty large Switch collection was purchased secondhand (usually from eBay when I find a good deal). Nintendo brings a certain joy with their games that no other company can quite replicate, but once in a while I still crave those 4k 60fps games from my Xbox or PlayStation

      @PotatoGunCamper Месяц назад +1

      Indeed. I'm not a huge Nintendo fan. I dislike them a ton as a company and how they treat content creators. Their saving grace is that they do make some cozy games. My issues is that I am not spending $60 on a game to play on a Switch (my worst performing gaming device) but will pay that for PC/PS5 games. At this point, I'm just looking for chill games to play in bed!!! Ebay it is! I'm not looking to spend over $30 for any game-- I'm ADHD, want to sample a ton of games, lose interest, then wash n recycle the process again.

    Nintendo simply put are incredibly anti consumer friendly, they are far more concerned about protecting their brand than they are about the customer, and I will never understand why more people aren't bothered by that. You would think people would be more enticed by companies that put the customer first but Nintendo is some kind of anomoly in this industry. Can anybody explain why downgraded ports of decade old games are being sold at full price? It's not because Nintendo cares about the quality of the port or gameplay experience of the port, that much I can be certain of.

That's what separates Xbox from the rest, and I highly doubt Nintendo will do the same. Nintendo could at least make a Nintendo version of GamePass where there are day 1 releases and access to more modern Nintendo games. That would be the only thing that can bring Nintendo back up.

    Because Nintendo fanboys will pay for it. Being a PC guy, I had forgotten just how bad game pricing was on consoles until I had gotten my Switch. I buy games like Shin Megami Tensei V, Xenoblade Chronicles 1 through 3, Fire Emblem, Triangle Strategy, Trials of Cold Steel and so on.
    These are very massive games that are packed with tons of content, so the price is worth it. However, trying to find these games 10 years from now may be an entirely different story. There is a difference between paying $20 for a linear 15-hour campaign or a souless western open world game vs $60 for a 100 hour jrpg that is packed with soul and character.

    New games are released on Windows 💻 almost daily,
    while Nintendo's releases are far less frequent.
    Each new Nintendo game is eagerly anticipated, akin to celebrating a newborn or welcoming a new family member.
    Due to the rarity of new Nintendo games, reducing prices would risk bankruptcy.
    They cannot afford to lower prices, even if sales are slow.

    Up until the Switch, Nintendo did re-release games at the $20 as Player's Choice or Nintendo Selects but IP games NEVER went on sale. Now they do both physically and digitally. In the US, Breath of the Wild cost me $40 same with Mario Odyssey. And why should games get cheaper as they get older? Games like BotW don't degrade in quality. A copy today will play just as good as it was on launch day. As for family friendly, Nintendo has branched out since the Wii U. Bayonetta is semi-IP yet it is an M rated series.

    The only reason a game should ever go down in price is if it becomes outdated. Games like Mario odyssey still feel brand new, and so it stays full price. Plus there’s the added bonus of being able to pay significantly less than competitors squeeze out of consumers at launch, 60 compared to the industry standard of 80. This, combined with the lack of total brokenness at launch, makes switch games the most fairly priced on the market. It’s a real shame how unfairly games are priced according to industry standards, they go from way too high for cheap quality at launch, to extremely low for acceptable quality a few years later.

This might just be a thing in the UK though idk also its just exclusives, 3rd party games and especially indies generally hover around the same price on their sales when comparing Steam to Eshop sales. I really think it's just the exclusives but "Why are Nintendo Switch Exclusive Games Expensive?" would be a worse title so I get it. This is from the POV of a PC gamer that plays a lot of switch on the side for portability already had one long before the steam deck came out and don't feel the need to upgrade it with switch 2 likely being within a years time.

    Also my ps5 game disk covers feel much much better than nintedo's because they are imported from the EU and not from China, i have a ps5 game from China (God of war ragnarock) it's original but the plastic doesn't feel good. My nintendo game cases are from Singapore and they feel good but still cannot compare to the ps4 game cases (made outside china) mainly because the spine is much thick. However it does suck that now most games no longer give anything when buying the physical copy, so far i had Sony games atleast give me something unlike nintedo which is just art behind the game cover. The cartridge itself might not cost much but the operating expenses must be expensive. And maybe it depends on location. In Canada the PS5 games feel horribly cheap, whereas Switch cases feel solid

    The answer is very simple. Nintendo is a very greedy company, and people fall for it. Xbox is the complete opposite and actually sells games and consoles at a very agreeable price. Xbox even has deals for most of their games to be 75% off or even more. Xbox GamePass is also something that proves how greedy Nintendo is. Nintendo won't offer a monthly subscription that offers access to day 1 releases or even games that came out a year ago. The Nintendo Switch prices haven't dropped much given that the Switch has been out for many years longer than the Xbox Series consoles. Nintendo never bothered to give the Nintendo Switch Oled a real hardware upgrade other than just a screen that doesn't make games run better and only just makes colors pop a little more. I promise you, if Xbox comes out with their own handheld console, it would not only be just as much or less than a new Xbox Series S, but it would also be much more powerful than what Nintendo will ever release. Xbox can easily destroy Nintendo if they want to and take them out of business. The only justifiable thing that Nintendo has done was come out with a Nintendo Switch Lite, which is actually fair for the price given the limits of the hardware. What surprised me more was that I used to think Playstation was greedy, but no, Nintendo is far worse.

    It is because Nintendo doesn’t undervalue their products and IP so you pay for it and therefore hold their value. Printing Nintendo cartridges are not cheap and therefore print runs are in limited quantities and vary rarely reprinted after sales cycles are completed. I’m happy for their prices being elevated and won’t change. I see Sony doing that as well now. They vary rarely have sales now on any of their first party titles with exception of holidays and then go back up and stay there.

      You nailed it. I mean I wouldn't mind games being cheaper of course, but I understand the reasoning for them costing so much and I think it's usually worth it when it comes to Nintendo.

    Really nice video, but you threw me off with that last part, playing graphically demanding games on the switch feels bad, performs bad and the controller feels awful but you still buy and play them and choose to play them over other platforms? Damn, wouldn't be me.

      thank you! haha you’re completely right, I have no idea why but I almost always opt for the Switch option when available… Most likely because I collect for the console but who knows 🤷‍♂️

    Yeah I’m not paying 60 bucks for a games that’s over 5 years old. Also what are you on about people don’t have skills to run an emulator. Download emulator and download rom what’s so difficult in that? I grew up on Nintendo with the snes then made my way over to the PlayStation. I bought a brand new wii back in 2012 with all the classics and I kid you not nostalgia is a hell of a drug. Those games sucked and were boring as hell. Up til today some of the games like galaxy and donkey Kong are still in the plastic disc box they came. How many times are you gonna jump on a flag and still be entertained? I have a brother that smokes weed and doesn’t work. He probably plays the wii al ost everyday. Thinks there a link between people who refuse to grow and like Nintendo. Get an Xbox or ps and play some big boys games. Will be a fresh change of pace
