- This is an easy and tasty way to enjoy the mineral-rich goodness of seaweed. It’s a dish that can be prepared in advance and travels well - so it makes a great lunchbox. Despite its name, buckwheat is not a form of wheat and is gluten-free. However,
do check the packet when you buy buckwheat noodles (aka soba noodles) as some brands contain wheat flour too.

Recipe taken from Hugh's new book, River Cottage Light & Easy, published by Bloomsbury. - Хобби
Have you tried Soba(buckwheat noodles) with tomatoes and olive oil? You can season it with salt and pepper but also with a bit of wasabi. You can also mix all that with dashi. And, for all those Vegetarians or Vegan out there, dashi can be made with kombu seaweed and dried shiitake mushrooms really easily. Trust me! I am Japanese and I love soba!
Love this recipe. Wish river cottage would come back again though
Love those soba noodles ! Great job

+EZGlutenFree If he actually told you the name of them, it'd be easier to find them! They're just soba noodles. Should be easy to grab anywhere Japanese food is sold.

Yay vegan recipe. Looks lovely!
Do you still eat animals?
No I don't. Was a big fan of river cottage though growing up. It's what got me into growing my own and wanting to have a small holding one day. I've changed my aspirations now, but subscribe just to get my fix every now and then. Great to see a super healthy recipe on the River Cottage channel.
only if it is made from a plant. Vegans do not consume anything that originated from a living being.
'being' suggests a consciousness. Plants do not have that or a nervous system and so do not feel pain or suffer as living beings do. The chopping down of trees is considered bad due to them being the lungs of the earth. Vegans, as far as I know, do not eat trees, but do eat their fruits. Not sure what you were getting at with the tree thing. Vegetables are seasonal and not perennial and so it makes sense to eat the whole thing as they die and rot away after one or two seasons.
Vegetarians eat dairy yes, but eat nothing that had a mum or dad.
Hope that helps :-)
Are you vegan?
This looks like a great salad but you can have it warmed through for a fantastic Vegan meal. Just do everything the same but don't put cold water on your pasta and quickly toss through your veg in a pan with sesame oil or coconut oil then add all the pasta and the dressing ingredients without the extra oil. This so delicious. ....
Recipe below? Ingredients below? Where? How far below? On another page???
nice recipe, strange color correction.
came to hear hugh pronounce wakame as wahh-kahhh-meeeeeeee
Always wipe your knife off after honing it, kiddies.
Hugh, your glasses look great but why no anti reflection coating? Naughty naughty!!
I can replace the noodles with spaghetti squash, I can not eat any wheat, but the squash is good in its place
Then you're fine to eat this as it is called buckwheat but has no relation to wheat. It's not even a grass plant.
