A non-aerodynamic 6,400 pound block vs a aerodynamic 3,600 wedge...
Unfortunately, that 3600lb wedge is nearly 500lbs more than a C6 Z06. It's a shame the Corvette has gotten so heavy.

Vette had no launch control and is on reduced power because its not past 500miles for break in! Still a cool race I guess but I think a broken-in Vette with launch control would walk the TRX way harder.
It seems like you are right about the launch control but the RPM meter was still going above 6k RPMs even though it hasn’t passed 500 miles, Hennessey must’ve removed the power limiter for it.
@@andreworlovskii3350 It doesn't function by limiting revs, it functions by modifying the air/fuel ratio to run the engine super lean to reduce power output. That Vette is making maybe half of the power it should be. The rest is gearing.

Probably got the Motorweek test driver lol. I've watched a lot of their videos with 0-60 and 1/4 mile times and their driver is always slow. In reality, the Corvette driver was sandbagging to make the truck look faster. The truck is impressive, most likely the fastest truck ever until Ford ups the game with a new Raptor. But its still not faster than a stock C8 vette even at launch.
@@gregrowe1168 Yeah, they didn't launch the Vette.. which has standard launch control since 2014.. odd.
They weren't launching it they just stepped on the gas. It would have been way faster off the line they actually launched it. But that being said the TRX is still an impressive machine.

@@NSER164 No, they would not. Because, they want the TRX to be the king. There is a reality to what they do. It is not about what is done right, but what they feel entertains best. They know that the TRX has competition out there. They even admitted that the Tesla could beat it. Yet they did not show that showdown. What fun would the series have been if they hyped up the TRX like that, then someone swooped in and beat it? lol That is the other reason why they won't allow the owners to drive their own rigs. It could have been disastrous if the results turned out against the TRX.
Hennessey, really? You raced a C8 that hasn't even passed the 500 mile break in, WITHOUT launch control and the guy driving it has the reaction time of a sloth. The C8 would have absolutely destroyed in ideal conditions.

This used to make a much bigger difference. Two automatics with traction control, wouldn't probably matter.

No it wasn't, they know what they're doing. The TRX was made for tq from the start and to be a desert runner. The c8 is ment to run on a track at high speeds and needs the higher top end for its job. I know the demon would beat the c8 in the quarter. But I'd like to see the challenger super stock do a q8 with the c8.

@@sonsofliberty3081 Regardless, it still weighs almost 3000 pounds more than the corvette, which is a low 12 second car. There is no way, a 6400 pound truck, is a 12 second vehicle.

@@TA_Plus_Hemi The facts are anything made by Fiat including jeep, Ram and Chrysler have been at the bottom of the reliability lists every year. Rams depreciate faster than any other truck. The LS and LT engines in Corvettes have lasted 100s of thousands of miles and there are million mile C5s out there. The LS engines are known to be bullet proof. You’re entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts.

Also you compare a plastic car to a Federally required crash compatible 3 ton truck. Then you speak of facts? Joe Smith idk your truck is a 150mph truck. The TRX is like 118mph. You would likely pass him up at 130mph.
You can see from the shot with the clusters at the end that the C8 isn't past the 500 mile break in period.

C8 is limited (severely) on performance until it surpasses 500 miles. Those races were not even or remotely comparable. Sorry but the C8 would have killed the TRX from a dig and throughout the races if it was past 500 miles and the driver knew how to use launch control.

I'm a Ford guy but even I know the V8 has to hit 500 miles before you get full power. They limit it for the break in period, you can see the lower redline in the video.
Both cars are equipped with lunch control but u didn’t use it🤷🏽♂️

More than likely the C8 wasn’t using launch control. In that realm 0-60 on both is about 3 and half seconds.

Nah he didn’t have the laugh control and his car wasn’t broken in he didn’t have a high redline or the full power unlocked
when I was just a teenager my father taught me to drive in a 1983 RAM my whole life I bought RAMY trucks this truck I've lost my mind and here in Texas Sonadora maybe I lost this but see the monster that has to use that engine and the other is designed for speed this beauty is designed to kill everything in front !!

@@moeal5469 c8 most definitely DOES have launch control. If you slow down the video for the dash shot of the race you can see that the trx got the holeshot plus a better launch. They didn't use launch control in the c8

There are plenty of videos of the TRX running in the 3s. The only truck I’ve seen not break 4s was on TFL but they are in Colorado at high elevation.

@@austinoakley7391 No numb nuts😆, 2.8 and the best I’ve seen any TRX was 4.1 even though Rams official time is 4.5........but yeah this was staged and no TRX is getting close to 3 seconds flat or better like the C8.

All wheel drive makes a big difference at the launch and I would say that TRX is stock I know it came from the factory like that but that supercharger still makes a difference

I have worked with so many people that have 700+ hp cummins dodges that have who the hell knows what crazy torque they are pushing, but damn do i wanna see one of these things. Even with only a change in the rear end, tires, tranny and all restrictions, this thing would be fun as hell... til you gotta pay for gas.

Aerodynamics kicked in.
The C8 Corvette will not have its full potential till at least 500 miles driven. They restrict from the factory so that I can have a break in period so the owners don’t destroy it . The vet that was racing the truck has not hit the 500 mile mark yet. So it’s in limp mode. It’s a good race but the driver of the C8 Corvette is also very slow reaction time. The 0 to 60 is just under three seconds for the Corvette while the TRX is in the 4s
It is about what you have in the moment. If these two were on the highway you dont say I haven't been 500 miles yet so imma decline. Nah, you go with what you have

C8 isn’t fully broken in and is power limited - It has 41 miles if you look closely. TRX does 0-60 in 4.5, 1/4 mile in 12.9... C8 0-60 in 3, 1/4 mile in 11.2...
That Corvette was broken in and had launch control he would gap that truck in the first second
or maybe they just didn't wanna use launch control lol. they tried to make the Truck look more aggressive then what it rly is. but don't get me wrong, its still impressive that a 4 door truck has that good of a launch.
