z06 is expected to be 100HP more at least. zr1 way more... like 200+ hp more than this one. even with 100hp more, it will obliterate the HC or even red eye.
In early testing on the z06 there was way to much chassis twist that it would break the rear glass. They have to figure out what needs to be done to correct that without making to many changes, otherwise there wont be a z06 for many years to come
The current z06's are faster than a HC what you people on? Lol maybe not on dig depending if they got drag radials other than that on a roll the vette is just lighter and it outruns the hellcat. Obviously the new ones will be faster

Once again, Chevrolet and all the Corvette engineers have done a spectacular job with this car. I'm excited to see what the ZR1 version of this car is like.
Engine placement is the real reason why it performs better. A mid engine configuration will always perform better than a front engine configuration. Also, mid engine cars have superior acceleration off the line as well. Engine placement makes a huge difference in acceleration and handling.

That's because, in addition to a mid-mounted engine's proximity to the rear wheels, this design also allows the car to achieve ideal weight distribution, center of gravity and traction. A front-engine vehicle can be tuned for some spirited driving, front-engine cars are at such an engineering disadvantage from a performance perspective that many high-performance auto manufacturers reserve them for their low-end models or skip them altogether. Why? The simplest explanation is that rear-wheel-drive cars handle the best from a performance perspective, and a ton of power would be wasted if a front-mounted engine had to send its output down the entire length of the car to turn the rear wheels. Front-engine cars also lose a bit of braking capacity because the car's weight shifts forward as the car decelerates, giving it extra momentum in the unwanted direction.

any RWD american sedan or coupe you have to discount the hp by 250 to get a feel for how it will perform. I used to marvel at how horrible the 500+hp mustangs, camaros, chargers/challengers were at the strip. Always a disappointment unless they were on non-street tires. Which makes the result at the strip pointless unless that's why you bought the car. Most of us buy a car hoping to drive it on the street and have it accelerate.

I, like you, definitely expected the hellcat to have more of an edge from a roll but was interested to see what effect the weight difference/balance of the midengine had, ya know, off paper. Not disappointed at all. It looks like Corvette really has something special with this C8. If they're reliable in the long run on top of all that we already know, it is absolutely the best bang for the buck car right now!

I love the hellcat. Maybe I’m one of the few people that respect the car for what it is. It’s a big and heavy gas guzzler and that loses more races than it wins lol. But I don’t care.
Its the nostalgia value that the Charger/Challenger provide. They really do not have true competitors anymore, not saying that in a flaunting way. The others have become sports cars, not really muscle cars anymore. They are not the fastest but they have a colt following like no other, and I think that is where they gain so much respect.

Rule #1 with a HC. Unless you're prepped with drag radials and tweaked suspension, dont race from the dig. You won't be able to put the power down. Rule #2 with a HC. When racing from the roll, make sure you are in the power band when you go; with the heavy weight and freeway gears (2.65?) as the axle ratio, you have to be in the sweet spot. It took a minute to reel in the Vette and pull on it to win the second race. Finish line is at 1:39. Good video

Not just that. Mid engine and dct makes a huge difference. C7 was lighter and down in only 35 hp but it could only do 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds. This C8 does it in 2.8 seconds.

The Vette is much lighter, and has a great fast shifting auto. It's not Hp. Its power to weight ratios. Look at Motocycles. 150 hp.

I'm a Mustang owner and I appreciate both these cars for what they are. This video is simply a comparison, not a COMPETITION. So people need to stop commenting "If (blank) had a (blank) it would whoop their ass. If you pretend your car is the fastest car in the world, you'll never be able to enjoy anything; you'll just get more power hungry which is a downfall for most cars. So enjoy what you have people need to stop acting superior over another cause everybody has it's own flaws

I love the hellcat. Maybe I’m one of the few people that respect the car for what it is. It’s a big and heavy gas guzzler and that loses more races than it wins lol. But I don’t care.

Its the nostalgia value that the Charger/Challenger provide. They really do not have true competitors anymore, not saying that in a flaunting way. The others have become sports cars, not really muscle cars anymore. They are not the fastest but they have a colt following like no other, and I think that is where they gain so much respect.

Rule #1 with a HC. Unless you're prepped with drag radials and tweaked suspension, dont race from the dig. You won't be able to put the power down.
Rule #2 with a HC. When racing from the roll, make sure you are in the power band when you go; with the heavy weight and freeway gears (2.65?) as the axle ratio, you have to be in the sweet spot. It took a minute to reel in the Vette and pull on it to win the second race. Finish line is at 1:39.

Not just that. Mid engine and dct makes a huge difference. C7 was lighter and down in only 35 hp but it could only do 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds. This C8 does it in 2.8 seconds.

The Corvette is, always had been and always will be an absolute masterpiece of a car. A true demonstration of American engineering precision and beauty. And I'm not even American. I'm half Australian half English. To me the Corvette is the ultimate performance car.
