  • This case is unbelievable. Ryusuke was one of the friendliest players on Hustler Casino Live. Fans loved to watch him play poker and his fellow players always enjoyed his company. He was even one of the biggest winners on the show. But suddenly, in October of 2022, everything changed. Owing hundreds of thousands of dollars in LA, and allegedly millions abroad, he vanished without a trace.

I'm 42... been around the gambling scene (very active) for 27 years... The one thing I learned about loaning money is... The nicer somebody ASKS for money the least likely they will pay... and something more concrete- If somebody asks you for a loan, honestly ask yourself "Why is he asking ME?" Usually because he has NO Credit with his friends/family.

Yeah its always best to not lend money to people you don't know well. Amongst friends, I'd rather give money I can afford to someone who needed it than lend someone a sum of money that is beyond what I can give. So I really try to stay clear of lending money to people, unless its someone really close who really, really needs it.

Doug, thanks a lot for sharing this very interesting episode. Putting all of the money he owes in the U.S. aside, there’s no way he could owe various people $15M in Japan without some hefty amount from underground people with outrageous accrued interests. Being a Japanese myself, I watched Masato Yokosawa’s RUclips channel about a year ago confessing he’d owed over $2.5M to many including underground outlaws. He even confessed it in tears. Of course, Ryusuke could have been born into a wealthy family, so people lent him that much amount. Hypothetically if his $15M story was true, there’s no way he could return home unless he’s ready to be buried. Being a Japanese national, I can tell you that for sure after living over 60 years.

The fact that he is a scammer has been a bit of a rumor in Japan since he started participating in casino tournaments. The rumor that he was a scammer started because when he first started participating in casino tournaments, he was only known in Japan as Ryusuke, and he did not disclose his real name at that time. However, his real name, ''Ryusuke Daifuku'', was mentioned in Japan as one of the members of a group that committed virtual currency fraud for a company called PGA.
This became a hot topic in the online poker community. However, it did not make much of a splash because the online poker community in Japan is an underground poker community and many prominent Japanese poker players enjoyed talking with him.
This scam is really embarrassing for the same Japanese people and poker players, and we hope that those who were scammed will get their money back as soon as possible.
    We are truly sorry.

Sometimes when a person busts that table they just go to another player and ask for a loan and they do it straight up right there on the spot and then we never hear anything else about it for good. this time though...we are hearing a lot about it.
If they at least made a contract legal binding to protect their vulnerable self it would have been smart. What's the saying too much money for your own good. Why would anyone lend money to a "friend" on the poker table? I know a bunch of people and share laughters on the poker table but NEVER have i consider them as "Friends". Not only that, I only lend money to people who I feel I have responsibility to, and most friends I don't hold any responsibility with them. So...yeah, sucks to learn it the hard way.

He asked everyone to remain patient and to show he is a stand-up guy he sent a $50 token payment to his backers in good faith.
