    • @johnbolton2149
      @johnbolton2149 12 дней назад +18

      Yes. Nery missed dozens of hooks after the knockdown. Inoue’s adjustment to start flexing at the waist and see those hooks coming was exceptional. Credit to Nery too, he was ready to go today and fought to win.
      That said, Inoue’s composure and belief in his training and his ability almost makes the win more impressive than had he won without being knocked down. Easy to be confident when everything is going your way, but to keep that confidence when doubt has room to creep in or as Teddy Atlas says, doubt is like ninjas climbing over the walls of ur brain, like the end of “Scarface”. To fend off that doubt and remain focused under that duress is what separates the elite from everyone else.

    One interesting fact about Japanese boxer Naoya Inoue is that he is nicknamed "The Monster" due to his exceptional power and aggressive fighting style in the ring. The Yamanaka fights, the Mike Tyson upset, the arena with 55,000 people.
    All these things made Inoue more emotional going into the fight and contributed to all the pressure he was under.
    So when he was knocked down, he used the countdown to take in what had just happened.
    He clearly wasn't too hurt from it, but it was more so a combination of surprise and the pressure.
    He was expected to make short work of Nery in a couple rounds, but in those few seconds after the knockdown, he realized it won't be as easy as he and all the people behind him think.
    Not to mention, his brother was also knocked down in the first round and won. Not only that, he made the same mistake of leaving his right hand down during combinations. That may have also crossed his mind.
    After that, he stayed focused and annhilated Nery.
    Hopefully, this serves as a reminder that being knocked down or having losses doesn’t define a fighter's career.
