Whenever Matt says I have this passion for springtime spinnerbaits or any lure, I always go, “he has a passion for all the lures in the world and they each hold a special spot in his heart” lol 😂
My favorite Qoute from this video ..” I don’t know if it matters, but it matters in my brain.” Great stuff Matt all the way through. Thank you. You guys channel has made this East Tennessee country boy a much more effective angler. Thank you!!
I used to be a non believer in the spinner bait until I out fished all my buddies on a highly pressured lake. I fished this spinnerbait in the middle of a hot 12 o'clock sun and it was basically a bite on every cast. A real winner in my book.
When I first started bass fishing, I ONLY used realistic looking swim baits - I figured the rest out there didn't look like anything real and probably wouldn't work 😅 Now, I swear by the exact setup in this video: a spinner bait with a 3.5" paddle tail trailer. It doesn't _really_ look like the bait fish, although the trailer definitely helps, but the bass don't seem to know that 😆
Like the video? Oh yeah. As a newbie to freshwater fishing, a spinner bait is a lure that I haven't caught a fish on yet. Videos like this help a lot. Thanks Matt. 🎣👍
I feel your pain! My car was just stolen a couple weeks ago. I could care less about the car, insurance has that covered. It’s my tackle bags with all my favorite lures I was upset about loosing and a couple rods 😭 But it’s always fun shopping for new fishing gear haha!
Mike O - Don’t you have personal property coverage, bro..? It’s super cheap and will save the day when it comes to keeping tackle, etc in your ride... I have a client who’s truck was broken into and he lost an estimated 5k in rods, reels, and tackle... We covered it all and he went shopping... Peace ~
I was born in MN, but my folks moved to Tennessee when I was young. I’ve always though pike fishing seemed awesome. They seem aggressive and will eat just about anything
Tip for throwing a stinger hook, I take a cutter or swimming worm shorten it up and Texas rig it on my stinger to keep it weedless and still fill out the profile. Try it, it's super effective in the south around hydrilla
I've been wondering about throwing a worm, lizard, or crayfish as a trailer for those situations where I let the bait helicopter down around docks or between Lily pads
Hi Matt & Tim, this is the 3rd spring in a row that I’m following your channel and video updates. I’m from Italy and our fisheries are not the same as the ones in the States but they can be fun anyway most of the times. I’m not asking anything here, but after all the things I’ve learned and applied in my fisheries, sometimes needed to be adapted given the different environments, seasonal changes and dimension of average size fish, I would like to spend this 2 minutes to say - Thank you guys for your continuous, relentless and beautiful job you are doing. I’ve been watching many videos from Italians, Europeans and Americans channels but in your video I do not get the:”Buy this do that and tomorrow if it does not work buy that and do that”. But instead i get:”Hey the instructions are those, take them and adapt them, you are in charge to complete the puzzle every time you go fishing”. I REALLY LOVE THAT. Do not want to bother you so I will end up my comment here, but remember there is a guy on the other side of the pond, that appreciate all your efforts and skills. My best wishes, Luigi.
The best breakdown on spinnerbaits for bass fishing I have ever seen- hands down! I used to watch Bill Dance and loved his knowledge. Matt- thank you so much!
Thanks Matt you have completely changed my fishing game! I went out at 1pm and got all the spinnerbaits you recommended and by 230pm I had 4 fish weighing 2lbs each then I went back at 6pm backed up two points and caught three more weighing 4lbs each and lost atleast a 7 or 8 plus two 3lbers. All on your favorite spinnerbait. Thank you tacticalbassin fam!!
Probably the best bass lure vid I've seen! I've been like- crack addicted- to spinnerbaits for over 40 years and everything in this vid is Spot On! Thanks man!
Love the knowledge you share, I’m a re-beginning bank angler but the how and more importantly why questions are when I come to you guys. If blessed I’ll get a chance to enjoy your guide services if you are still doing it in TN.
That coleslaw with double whites are killer on cloudy days on Table Rock... Also, the small blade baits are great after a Cold Front. An old timer taught me that 20 years ago. Great Vid Matt.
Good advice! I make my own spinnerbaits and usually choose massive Colorado blades over the double willows. I find the big Colorados put out a bigger vibration than the willows and it keeps the bait higher in the water column. Pair a swimbait with the Colorado blade and holy cow they call in fish from miles around. The big Colorados also let me wake the bait near the surface so I can use them almost like a topwater. I find success on most types of water with this setup. When you need to get the bait down though that's where those willows will always shine.
I have not had much luck with chatterbaits, but i was watching one of your vids and you said throw a spinnerbait in the spring. I picked one up and now i love it and catch more fish! I also have a river2sea bling on the way I cant wait!
Just amazing how good your videos are. The under water footage along with your descriptions and teaching is incredible. I cannot say it enough Thank you for all you do!!!
Thx for the Spinnerbait Video Matt , it's my favorite moving bait to use here in FL. 3/8oz WarEagle Spinnerbait in spot remover will catch bass from California to Florida!!! Also I fish mine on mono!!!
That's wild! I know guys who only throw mono or braid, but I swear by fluorocarbon - 8lb Cajun Line; it's red, so it's basically invisible to both us and the fish.
The more I watch this channel , I become invested and wanna keep watching. But anyways , went out and bought strike king buzzbait and i adjusted my main hook. Added trailer hook with craw daddy plastic. Black and blue. Im about to cast my first cast , waiting for Sun ☀️ to get off the water in my bay. Tight lines
That's wild! I've been throwing a 3.5" paddle tail minnow as a trailer, but I've wondered about using a crayfish, lizard, or worm as a trailer for situations where I let the spinner bait helicopter down (around docks or in pockets between Lily pads).
Hi fishing gurus. Im from Denmark and here we dont have bass. The closest is a perch. Im fishing northern pikes and Im using a ton off all your advice and knowledge. Keep up with the long videos, I love to pick your brain. Thanks a bunch.
Great video as always! You guys have improved my fishing so much since I started watching your channel. Once the buyer’s guides are over, you guys should do a video on how to find out what the bass are eating. I don’t know whether the bass in some of my lakes are eating gills, shad, shiners, sculpin, or crawfish. Your insight would be immensely helpful
Awesome! The ONE G Loomis rod I have was designed for spinner baits. I use it for more than that, but I bought that rod because I love throwing my spinner baits
My two bass rods are 6' medium action, and one's got the old trigger style handle lol. It's been one of my favorite rods for years, but I often use it for bluegill.
Hey Matt, I really love your videos, I started fishing during the covid shutdown time and because of you and the tips you share, I went so far into fishing. My PB is 9.20# and I would love to catch a DD soon. All credits go to you and Tim. Keep up the good work my man!
Awesome video Matt!!! I love love love spinnerbaits!!! My bf and I fished a tourney on Sunday, we couldn't buy a nibble. We decided to keep fishing after the tourney and as the boats were loading up and weighing in, 15 minutes after the tourney ended I landed a big 4lb 2oz fat belly momma 🎣🤟💪 only Bass of the day, but it was soooooo worth it! Keep the videos coming please!!! I ALWAYS learn something from y'all and enjoy every single video y'all make!!! 🙌❤👏 Tight lines 😎🎣🏆
Excellent information Matt! I’ve been using the spinnerbait for the last few months and have been doing well with them. Far better than last year when I first came to town. Thank you
You got me pumped up after I Watched this I found a red spinner bait I got from a mystery tackle box years ago and put a green and purple swim bait trailer on it and caught a 6+ lber and a bunch of dinks

So far this year, I've just been throwing white with silver or white blades, and I've only been to the lake nearby that has crystal clear water - my favorite lake that I grew up on is about an hour south of me, and it has a bit murkier water due to being part of a river, but I want to try out a couple different colors on each lake and see what they bite 😀

WOW, I need to watch this several times, so much input for me. I'm just getting back into fishing after 30 years. I have an old Shimano 2500 spinner that still works smooth as always. I went on AMZ to find some Stren or Berkly line and saw a Baitcaster reel... What the hell is a Baitcaster? Well three months later I have a couple Lews, a Revo SX, and I just HAD to get another Shimano so I settled for the SLX XT. I will be bank fishing and my car will be transportation. I will not chance breaking a fine rod getting in and out of the car so I must settle for a 2 pc. I will put the SLX on a 6'6" KK Royal Select MH-fast. I also have a Perigee II 7" Heavy- fast for my SuperDuty 300. But hey it's all a far cry from years ago when my only fishing concern was "Do we have enough Beer?" THANK YOU for all this valuble information.
Great video. I'm a huge spinner bait fan. I'm very partial to the short arm design. I find it planes out on the surface in cover and makes noise and vibration. All spinners are great.
You're so right because we don't use stinger hooks on swim jigs! And we all ways use a trailer on them. Maybe I'll try a swim jig with just a stinger hook🤔
I'd say it depends on the body of water and the amount of fishing pressure - bass can get conditioned into not biting a specific bait source if they've been caught on them before. You can't really fish it too slow, but then again you can't really fish it too fast. You might just be throwing too big of a bait; try a Booyah Pond Magic.
Little late to your comment but from the dead of winter to the first 2 weeks in may or whenever the water's cold they are always good to throw especially with red, orange, and yellow accents on the skirt
I love spinner baits on river areas I use 6ft. Pistol grip rod braided line for 20yrs works great I put baits n tight spots on laydowns no problems .I know this is different but it works for me.

When you're on your way to work and you remember it's Wednesday and that means new video! Doing what you are doing guys we love you all.
Love the underwater footage so we can see how fish react
Underwater footage is always cool... I’m still amazed that any bass would bite a spinnerbait, but they work... Peace ~
"...pump... pump..."
I love how you share the tips on how to fish these lures and baits. So helpful!
