I absolutely adored Doctor Sleep -- probably for the same reasons you hated it😅 I fell in love with adult Dan right away and the parts of the story where I was in his head and just hanging out with him while he got his life together were some of my favorites. That said, I'll probably give The Other People a go because I read The Chalk Man via your recommendation and I ended up loving it. And if The Other People has to do with psychic kids I'll probably like it as well!

I just finished The Night Swim yesterday and it WRECKED me. If you liked that, definitely pick up My Dark Vanessa. It is literary fiction, but man, is it eye opening to how we treat survivors and what we expect out of them.

When vicious came out everyone on booktube kept talking about it for ages. I'm so glad people aren't talking about it as much
I did not like The Immortalist, but I liked the concept of 4 children knowing the date of their death. I loved this concept, but I did not like the characters or the lifestyles they lead. Also, they never really address if the prophecy had a magical element or if it was just a scam. It left me feeling frustrated.
If you could recommend something I might like that executed the concept better

I want to try out What Lies Between Us if you like John Marrs so much. And funnily, The Selection was my very first read for 2020. I gave it 1 star. You gave Little Secrets 4 stars, right? Seems like your curse for this year had been passed on to me. LOL.😂
Interesting because Time Traveler's Wife is in my top 10 of all time and I DNFd The Dream Daughter. LOL And I love the podcast aspect of Sadie and The Night Swim but didn't particularly care for either of them.

I liked wilder girls a lot, and loved annihilation. annihilation made me research going back to school to become a biologist because of how well her passion for her career field was shown in the story! wilder girls definitely felt more YA, but not in a "ugh, cheesy YA nonsense" kinda way. in a GOOD ya kinda way
I actually have to read Annihilation for my literature class!! I have not started it yet though.

I adored Sadie BUT I listened in audible and can see how reading the actual book round be different/boring

Readers Sea Hey, I would like to recommend Sometimes I Lie.
I read Sometimes I Lie, but I did not like Woman in the Window that much. The protagonist is too weak and keeps losing control of her life. Her constant drinking is annoying too. Sometimes I Lie has the unreliable narrator with unreliable memory, and the ending and twists are so much more satisfying.

i hate the world because before reading gone girl i got a spoiler about the plot twist and it still makes me so mad!!! i mean i still enjoyed the book very much but I WAS ROBBED OF THE SURPRISE AAAAAAGH i can't imagine how exciting it would've been if i hadn't known the twist :(
