I had my procedure done in 2016 at age 47 and it changed my life. However, in my case, the also removed my tonsils and shortened my uvula at the same time. Most people don't have all three done at the same time. Not a day goes by that I don't have at least a quick thought of how much my quality of life, energy level, mental sharpness and other things have improved, a difference of night and day. This was literally one of the greatest decisions I've ever made in my life and certainly the greatest regarding my health. If you are considering doing this, please have this procedure done. You will be happier due to the better sleep quality and you will be able to do so many things you enjoy without wondering when you can take a nap. You won't regret it.

I have suffered from chronic fatigue and insomnia for years and finally went to an ent and figured out how connected it is to my nose!! It was broken multiple times as a youngin and now I have been on quiet a few years of disturbed sleep so I’m just chronically deep deprived! Finally gonna get the surgery this month and I’m so glad I’m doing it now. But, he had a huge long chat with my ENT and he was telling him that they do it now. They use laser and my nose wasn't packed with any filling, it was simply just that bit under my nose for a few weeks. I had NO SWELLING on the outside at all, no bruising or anything. Omg that was quite enlightening❤️ so I was searching Nasal septum surgery as my mom has similar deviated nasal bone that blocks her one side of nose almost completely. She suffers from crazy sinus and actually once got it removed via puncture. It not just makes her a mouth breather but as you said, she feels tired and lack of oxygen to brain and other body parts is of great concern too. Headaches and migraines too are caused by this. Now she has a major hearing loss too 😖 I wish we could research about all this years before. Now she is nearly 60 and I wish as a family we could have helped her way earlier 😔
Recently, when my mom said that her ENT specialist has called out for an unavoidable surgery, I was very nervous! I immediately started looking for similar surgeries and thank God I found your video! I have shared this video with my Mom too. Hope this will give her strength. Thank you so much for your video. I have sleep apnea also. I was overweight so I lost weight. Still had apnea. I had my tonsils out. Still had sleep apnea. I was given a new cpap machine that tells you how many episodes an hour I have. I tape my mouth to stop the mouth breathing and the machine would say less than 4 episodes an hour which is normal. The day I forgot to tape my mouth it said 14. So it clicked. The only reason I have sleep apnea is because my sinus are always clogged and my brain subconsciously tells my mouth to open. So I’n in the process of getting an appointment date for my deviated septum correction. Hoping this takes care of it 🙏🏾

I’m 2 days out of surgery. No big deal. Groggy for about 4 hours after surgery (have someone hang out with you at home). Took 3 pain pills through the first night, mostly for ‘just in case I need them’ but since that first night I’ve needed no pain pills or Tylenol. You’ll have a scratchy throat for a few days from the tube they use during surgery (not helped by mouth breathing). Mostly it’s a nuisance and very similar to having a cold: you have to rinse your nose with saline every few hours, which causes it to drip (and unlike a cold you can’t blow it). You have to sleep upright for a week and breathe through your mouth. The antibiotics may or may not give you diarrhea. I wish I hadn’t watched so many RUclips videos before surgery- they had me SO stressed out, and really it’s nothing much.

I had your same fears about choking, but to be honest my nose didn’t work that well before surgery so I don’t think it would help much. If you don’t choke on your food regularly, odds are small that you would in the week after surgery, but you could always eat soups for that first week and anyway, they don’t want you doing any heavy chewing, so stock up on soft stuff. I'm actually looking to get the non cosmetic correction and much needed for years. I'm a contractor in Canada and prety resilient in spirit. I was just wondering how long I should expect to be stay at home recovering. Mostly finishing work so I would be hoping to get back on trim and paint sooner than drywall finishing for obvious reasons. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the video

I was back walking 1km to and from school with the kids a full week later. I kept of exercise for the full 6-weeks as instructed by my doctor. I ate really well and re-built my gut after the antibiotics we all take after surgery, with ferments. Wishing you good luck

How long will I have to take off from work?

Good job! I'm an airway and functional orthodontist. This surgery is only the part one of your journey. By looking at your video, you probably have narrowed palate and narrow lower dental arches. Which means your nasal cavity is narrow, to correct your structure completely, you will need a maxillary skeletal expander(MSE) to actually correct your structure, which will increase your nasal cavity volume plus tongue space. You also may have excessive vertical dimension of the face that lead to mouth breathing and clenching issues, which will need to be reduced. Those are all real structures problem that needed to be addressed. Imagine if your sewer line is too small and get clogged all the time, just doing the rooter service will only unclog the line temporarily. The problem will return until a proper size sewer line is replaced. The last is the possibility of tongue tie, from what I observed your video. Which will also cause airway issues, snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. From my clinical experiences, both structural and functional correction are essential for airway correction. You are probably at your 50% potential right now, once you take care of those, you will be at your 100%. Also take your children to an airway and functional orthodontist. They will likely follow your growth pattern, need to be addressed early. Great video, thank you for your contributions to the public. Wishing you the best!

Amazing video, I just had my surgery 3 days ago, I’m soo worried about getting an infection and causing complications; is cleaning it with the salt spray 3 times a day the only real way to prevent this, I mean the hospital gave me some cream\ointment however that is proving to be challenging to apply to my nose as there is still discharge etc... anyway thank you for your video and I hope you are able to enjoy your breathing meditation for years take care

I have a deviated septum, I am 17 and noticed when i was around 15 when someone took a picture of me and i said woahhhh one nostril is bigger than the other lol. I then noticed that when i cover one nostril and then switch and cover the other, One blows out more air than the other. Quick question, Does the ENT do some sort of test to measure how nuch air comes out of the nostril or how do they know when you need surgery? Thanks and god bless you

@@99SsZz So theres no way they can measure how much air you blow out your nose but they made me do a CAT scan to see like an xray of my nose and when they saw the xray i had one nostril that was bigger than the other. So my septum was deviated.
