Holy crap, I had no idea he was that close to dying.
Pretty terrifying really...I remember when the story first came out there was some indication that it was pretty serious, but Bob seemed to minimize the problem afterward. Glad he was okay.
@@bernlin2000 Wiki; On July 27, 2021, Odenkirk was hospitalized in New Mexico after having what he described as a "small heart attack".. lol; he had a massive widow maker artery blockage heart attack; he was dead if that AED hadn't revived him.
That's why they call that artery the widow maker, you usually don't make it to a hospital..
Look at em....
@@bernlin2000 well, it's a heart attack.
Heart incident or no, Bob Odenkirk must surely get an Emmy for Jimmy/Saul. That it hasn't happened already is just weird.
I agree 100%
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
It's an award incident.
I bet you he'll finally get the award for Season 6
i'm so sorry
I generally don’t let celebrity deaths bother me much but when Bob had his incident I remember being so emotionally invested in it. I checked twitter every few hours for any word he was doing ok. Had no idea it was that dire.
He's very lucky. My landlord had a heart attack and was extremely unfit. He died alone and I only discovered his body hours later. Keep yourself in shape. I always use to tell my landlord to sleep properly and go for exercise but he didn't listen.
The only one that ever actually upset me was Betty White.
Me and my coworkers had twitter open on one of the computers and kept refreshing it every half hour. I cannot tell you the relief we felt when Bob's son tweeted "he's going to be okay"
Saw him on Colbert. He had a straight up widow maker heart attack, except there were people on set who knew CPR and some medics nearby. He not only does not remember that day, he doesn't remember the entire week. He's very lucky to be alive.
Wow. 😟😟 I am hoping he goes on to do more big acting projects that match or exceed Saul too. We can’t lose our Bob!
Kim and Howard, badasses in Better Call Saul and even bigger legends in real life. I'm so relieved Bob is okay. Its probably going to make the series finale even more ridiculously epic
They canceled his trip to Belize (I’m going to hell for this)
LeGeNDs xD Jesus, internet killing this word
@@desant8028 nnnnnnmmmmm
Is Howard a badass in better call Saul? Dunno about that
@@KTBFFH don’t know about you but running your own law firm and bringing it back from the brink of liquidation to being massively successful all while having Saul trying to bring you down is pretty badass in my book. You don’t have to go round shooting people to be a badass
Does anyone realize how lucky he is to be alive? Out of hospital CPR survival rates have been estimatesd as low as 10%. Combine that with the 24% chance of survival with having to administer 3 AED shocks(or more) and the fact it was a widowmaker attack and he really shouldn't be alive.
Alive with seemingly no brain damage either. It's a medical miracle.
I would have cried my heart out if he didn't make it
Yeah, then you would’ve moved on the next day like nothing happened
why
Oh stop! You dont know him you weirdo!
No you wouldn't
these replies ain't it
Just thinking about how lucky he was to collapse in front of a whole group of people instead of alone in his room. He definitely wouldn't have made it. Hoping for good health from here on out!
He said that he was actually supposed to be in his trailer but instead chose to hang out with Rhea and Patrick. If he had gone to the trailer, he would be dead now.
He is incredibly lucky. My landlord had a heart attack alone in the apartment and when I came back home a few hours later he was already cold and dead.
I've been a fan of Bob since Ben Stiller show. Great talent. It would be super sad to lose him.
"its people.........YOU'RE EATING PEOPLE!"
for me I've been a fan since Tim and Eric Awesome show. there's something about him that's very likeable
So I had a cardiac arrest. Which sounded like what Bob had.
But, in any case I was driving taxi and slowly bumped into a car at a dealership. No damage thankfully.
And the car salesman ran out, broke the window to get me out and gave me cpr for 30 minutes.
The paramedics needed 6 electrical shocks to revive me. My sister's husband needed 9 shocks, when he had his 12 years ago, but he never recovered consciousness. He passed away. So 6 might be the limit.
Also my downtime was 30 minutes, which is definitely the limit. Downtime means you're dead.
So I woke up in beautiful Vancouver General ICU. 15 hours drive south.
The nurse comes in when I wake up and asks 'do you know where you are?'
I love Vancouver, so I recognized it right away. I had like a VIP window view to the street.
Then she asked 'Do you know how long you've been here?' ..... no idea.
She said you've been here for 10 days. Definitely a life moment.
I was worried at first I was missing work so to say the least a surprise.
She actually had to count out the days for me on a calendar cause I felt fine, and kept asking 'are you sure'.
A nice thing is if you survive a cardiac arrest, its an electrical thing so jumpstart a car and it can go. I wanted to play golf the same day, but I was not allowed out of hospital for 2 weeks until I got my pacemaker.
The only problem with a cardiac arrest tho is its a 6% chance of survival. One and done.
There has to be somebody with a defribrillator within 30 minutes or thats it.
Enjoyed reading this and I’m happy that you’re still alive bud . God works in mysterious ways. I had a women cop artificially breathing breathing for me for 15 minutes to bring me back to life.
If you don't mind me asking, did you see or dream anything while being out that long?
Bob is a sweetheart. A good guy playing bad guys. I’m glad he is recovered from scary heart incident. Look forward to reading his new book. More action films please! But maybe do some classics as well. He’s demonstrated great versatility and savvy acting choices. Bob, you are beloved and I am relieved you are still here.
Thank God for Rosa!
Its amazing the advances in heart surgery's in the last 20 years. You can have a heart attack and surgery and walk out within a day or two. Glad you're OK Bob and thank goodness for those people that helped save you 💕
Thank goodness for the people who were with him that helped bring him back!
Much love, MR. Odenkirk. ✊🏾
That must have been scary AF for Bob but probably just as scary for his costars who held his hands as he was literally dying.
Wow, this is exactly what happened to me. The survival rate is only 2.5%. Im only here because my neighbor knew CPR and was able to keep blood going til paramedics showed up with the AED. Bob says it at the end, learn CPR. You could save a life!!!
Imagine losing Saul Goodman. No speedy justice for us innocent folk.
Speedy justice for the guilty, you mean.
I was being sarcastic
@@mad-official
Ahhhh. Well done, then.
It's a miracle of human hardwork that brilliant Bob is still alive. I am so grateful.
Incredible... so happy Bob is still with us!!
Mr. Show was a breakthrough phenomenon for me. One of the funniest shows I’ve ever watched. Intelligent, and ridiculous. Love Bob And David and the rest of the cast as well.
Wow. 3 shocks to bring him back? Doesn’t get much closer than that. That “incident” was almost an obituary.
So, after listening to him, he can claim Nobody saved his life.
Huh?
I guess you people haven’t seen his movie, “Nobody”, which he mentions in this interview.
Ha good one
🤣🤣🤣
WOW, I didn't know that.
Very happy Bob made a full recovery… The guy’s a National Treasure ♥️
So happy he is still here with us. He is a joy to watch as an actor.
If there's ever been a more justifiable reason for Nobody 2 to happen. Saving Odinkirk's life and keeping him healthy is a pretty damn good one. Come on Universal make that sequel!
Thank you for sharing your story. Hopefully its saving more lives! You make the world a colorful place. Thank you, Bob.
I’m so glad he’s here, on the earth ❤️
WOW! It's great to hear/see him doing well now. 💯
I’m glad Bob is still with us
Jeez Bob what a crazy story Loved ya since mr show still watch some episodes from time to time

Wow he is blessed to be alive! There is a purpose for him to be here!
god isnt real, please grow up
Glad he's okay. That was closer than I realized.
Super crazy, didn't know about this story
The Howard Stern Show has become a podcast now. I remember when he chided someone for doing a podcast !
I'm so glad
God bless Rhea and Patrick and the movie Nobody. We love you Mr Odenkirk!
Damn. Glad we didn’t lose Bob.
I really hope if a guy defibrillates me he doesn’t go “oh welp two , well that too bad”
Has it been reported which scene they were filming for Season 6 when this happened? Have seen up to the summer break at this point. Thank God he survived. Such a great actor and person. 🙏🏻💚
Without spoiling anything-Season 6, Episode 8 ‘Point and Shoot’, filming parts of the first scene after the cold open/theme title
Thank God he's okay! The world would be worse off without him!
Wow! Thankfully he’s ok! Love the show better call Saul, but take care sir don’t rush back if you’re not ready, us fans understand. Get well!
Luckily the last season already wrapped filming. It will premiere on April 18!
SaulGoodMan, thank Almighty God Bob is still here!!!
Bob representing the New Mexico United Hat is awesome!! SOMOS UNIDOS!!!!
Anyone else think of Better Call Saul flashbacks when Bob said "Howard"?
So happy he is ok
Can’t believe the fact that because someone said “Lets have Saul and Howard have a boxing match” most likely saved Bob Odenkirk’s life
Just imagine if someone had went “nah seems out of character for those two” The Butterfly effect hit real hard this time in a good way!
It wasn't that. It was his desire to do an action movie, and his insistence on doing all of his fighting and stunts in it. He trained incredibly hard for 2 years to learn it all. That's what he was referring to.
People need to remember that CPR itself does NOT bring someone back to life…..CPR is only done until a shock can be administered. The shock is what ‘restarts’ the heart.
Not always. There are others which are unshockable
@Barbara Guest These are adult conversations...not text messages.
EMT here. That's wrong! The shock stops a ventricular fibrillation. CPR helps to restart your heartbeat.
@@Alex16993 no, cpr helps pump blood to the heart. Shock helps to restart the heart beat
None of you have a clue what you are talking about, CPR is to pump blood into the brain to prevent brain damage
They better make a Nobody 2. I love Bob so much and I’m happy he’s okay.
'Nobody' was a GREAT movie.
Glad he’s ok. That’s scary.
That NM United hat is DOPE! #505
Wow!!!
i love mr show.
He is lucky to be alive. #learncpr
Any idea where can I get Bob Odenkirk's cap?
So they probably was in the middle of shooting s6 ep7, if he said that Rhea and Patrick was around him. This makes this episode even more special.
I wonder if the intensity of that ending of the last episode is part of the reason he had the heart attack.
Seeing Lalo come back from the dead would give anyone a heart attack.
Man 😢
In 2010 after a decade of due diligence, Medicare began to offer a free educational program for heart disease patients called the Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation (ICR) program. This program teaches patients better lifestyle choices to reverse their heart disease.
Yassss New Mexico United!!! ⚽️
Nice
Wow, iirc the news did not report how close he was to death on set. It was reported hed had a hearty attack but he was ok. Damn .
Better Call An Ambulance!
bob 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Time to hit the gym tommorow
Wow I had no idea he came that close to dying. I knew he had an incident but didn’t know it was this dire.
Wow
I'm glad they saved him
So Cool, WE LOVE OUR Saturday Nights.....Da Da Da Na Na!!!!!!!!
Stern giving CPR would be a sight
He wouldn’t
He's way too useless for that.
Jimmy was broke before he was Saul Goodman, Bob was too. Gene passed out and Bob passed out. Saul is from the Chicago area and so is Bob.
Exercise folks!
Lol- my cardiac arrest was technically a heart "incident"
That's what his Dr told him
It’s crazy to think Odenkirk could’ve passed, and they wouldn’t have been able to finish the season of Better Call Saul
He reminds me of John McEnroe
YOU'VE GOT TO BE F*CKING KIDDING ME!!!
I thought it was Kevin Costner
So Bob Odenkirk is being interviewed by a TV screen?
Howard is in his home studio in Florida. The pandemic changed his show forever.
They used the defib three times, triples is best.
His voice is much similiar to Jordan Pettersons
So technically speaking, 'Nobody' saved his life
She had an AED in her car?! Does she work for MI-6?! Lol
So you say they’re filming another season, aww yissss
How the hell would they have ever finished the show without him. Guess not? It would abruptly end with no conclusion.
I mean, if he died before they could finish the series.... What would they have done? Got a replacement?
probably some Seinfeld karma there: "Elaine, I'm sorry. I always knew that after I became a doctor, I would dump whoever I was with and find someone better. That's the dream of becoming a doctor."
yet, still snubbed by this recent Emmys
Everyone should learn CPR.
Kinda surprised how many people don't go get checked out by a cardiologist ...
american health care
@@jackharper24 Yeah...I'm sure Bob is covered lol. Dude is a multi-millionaire: American healthcare is amazing for the 1% ;-)
@@jackharper24 700 million Americans. How many of them are cardiologists?
@@scottashe984 330 million
1.) Heart disease is called the "silent killer" for a reason. It builds upon years upon years and years of inattention. But most times people feel completely fine. Bob mentioned in a previous interview that the minutes/seconds before the "event" he was chatting and laughing along with his co-stars as if it were just another day. Until something like this happens, most people aren't even aware there's something wrong.
2.) Getting checked out and the follow-up procedures can get extremely expensive. And here in America, a cardiologist is a specialist that some insurance plans don't cover or cover only a small portion, so you need you pay the rest of the cost and for a lot of people they can't pony up the cash to do that unless something is really wrong. And since most people feel fine in their day-to-day, they don't see a reason to go through that financial stress.
3.) When something is found, to fix it can sometimes require significant changes in lifestyle and diet that many people aren't able to do. Healthier food is unreasonably expensive here. Food deserts, where neighborhoods have pretty much no real grocery stores or proper places to eat besides fast food, are extremely common. Gym memberships are expensive and some gyms are far, and for people who don't have cars or rely on public transportation that's already a nonstarter. There's also the issue of who is going to look after your child if you are a single parent while you're at the gym. Balancing working out with whatever job you have. Giving up foods that have given you comfort throughout your life, etc.
There's a bunch of reasons why people can't make to the cardiologist. There are of course efforts to alleviate all of this, but it is a long road.
LAD occlusion is no joke.
Wow, Howard let the guest talked for once.
