    Breaststroke was the only one I had learned after several failed swim lessons. I just swam this style with my head above water. When I got into the pool after 15 years from my last lesson, I had only minor issues with breaststroke. As soon as I got arm pulling right, fine tuned kicking, and be mindful of gliding, breaststroke became really easy soon as my core got strong from daily swim. Timing somehow seemed natural to me. I never had to consciously consider to time my arms and legs right. Freestyle on the other hand was not natural for me at all.

    I have just learned the breast stroke. I notice that when I kick my legs tend to come above the water, which is not what I see in your video. Is that wrong? I don't come up very much above the water to take my breath, so my body is more horizontal than what I see in your video. Can you please guide me here?

      The glide carries the speed of the kick and the shooting forward of the upper body. Make sure those two are right and make sure she has a horizontal position while gliding with ankle pointing in plantar flexion

    00:00:02,960 --> 00:00:08,601
    Breaststroke Swimming Technique - The glide
    평영 기법 - 활강(gliding)
    2
    00:00:11,441 --> 00:00:14,713
    We went over how to pull and kick in breaststroke.
    평영에서 팔 젓는 법과 차는 법에 대해 살펴보았습니다.
    3
    00:00:15,450 --> 00:00:18,470
    However, you could learn how to do both perfectly
    하지만, 두 가지 모두 완벽하게 하는 법을 배웠다 할지라도
    4
    00:00:18,495 --> 00:00:23,851
    and you would still be missing a big part of what makes the good breaststrokers fast!
    평영을 빠르게 하는 어떤 커다란 부분이 빠져 있습니다.
    5
    00:00:24,264 --> 00:00:31,401
    Depending on the distance they are swimming, Olympic breaststrokers can spend around half a second per stroke gliding!
    헤엄치는 거리에 따라, 올림픽 평영 선수들은 팔 한 번 저을 때마다 대략 0.5 초를 활강(gliding)하는 데 소비합니다.
    6
    00:00:32,138 --> 00:00:37,162
    In a two hundred meter race, they spend around thirty seconds gliding!
    200미터 경기라면, 대략 30초를 활강(gliding)하는 데에만 사용합니다!
    7
    00:00:37,920 --> 00:00:41,159
    Needless to say it is an essential skill to learn.
    말할 필요도 없이 꼭 배워야 하는 기술입니다.
    8
    00:00:42,754 --> 00:00:45,123
    There are three aspects to the perfect glide.
    완벽한 활강(gliding)을 하기 위해서는 세 가지를 고려해야 합니다.
    9
    00:00:45,170 --> 00:00:45,896
    3 - The glide
    - Position
    - Core
    - Tempo
    3 - 활강(gliding)
    - 자세
    - 코어(core, 몸중심부근육)
    - 박자
    10
    00:00:45,969 --> 00:00:51,127
    To get in the right position to glide you need to pay attention to the head and the hips.
    올바른 활강(gliding) 자세를 취하려면 머리와 엉덩이에 주의를 기울여야 합니다.
    11
    00:00:51,898 --> 00:00:54,713
    The head goes down when the arms go forward.
    팔을 앞으로 뻗을 때 머리는 아래로 내려갑니다.
    12
    00:00:55,346 --> 00:01:01,761
    It even goes a little bit passed the parallel line of the body to compensate and help move the hips up.
    심지어, 시소 효과로 엉덩이가 올라가게 하려고 수평선을 지나 약간 더 아래까지 내려가기도 합니다.
    13
    00:01:02,172 --> 00:01:06,448
    The hips go up a little with the help of the kick and the core muscles.
    몸중심부근육(core)의 힘과 차는 힘으로 엉덩이를 약간 올립니다.
    14
    00:01:09,157 --> 00:01:19,958
    It is essential to have enough core strength in breaststroke to be able to move your body from the pulling / kicking position to a perfect gliding position and back again.
    평영에서, 팔을 당기고 다리로 차는 자세에서 완벽한 활강(gliding) 자세로, 또 그 반대로 움직이려면, 반드시 중심부근육(core) 힘이 충분해야 합니다.
    15
    00:01:20,517 --> 00:01:26,915
    These muscles will give you the force and the stabilization necessary for a good stroke technique.
    훌륭한 영법 기술을 구사하기 위해서는 이 근육들을 이용해서 힘을 내면서 안정성을 구축할 수 있어야 합니다.
    16
    00:01:28,333 --> 00:01:30,873
    The final question to talk about remains:
    마지막 질문이 남아 있네요:
    17
    00:01:30,898 --> 00:01:35,376
    how long should the glide be kept before starting to pull again?
    다음 팔 젓기를 하기 전에 얼마나 오래 활강(gliding)을 유지해야 하는가?
    18
    00:01:36,160 --> 00:01:39,408
    I am afraid there is no straightforward answer to this,
    아쉽지만 그 질문에는 쉽게 답변드리기 힘듭니다,
    19
    00:01:40,039 --> 00:01:42,654
    because there are many things to consider like:
    왜냐하면, 다음과 같은 여러 가지 사항들을 고려해야 하니까요:
    20
    00:01:42,952 --> 00:01:44,700
    1- The distance being swam.
    1- 헤엄쳐야 할 거리.
    21
    00:01:44,815 --> 00:01:46,165
    2- The strength of the swimmer.
    2- 선수의 힘.
    22
    00:01:46,390 --> 00:01:47,580
    3- The height of the swimmer
    3- 선수의 키
    23
    00:01:47,996 --> 00:01:53,021
    Many swimmers even change their tempo considerably within the same event.
    많은 선수는 심지어 경기 도중에 박자를 크게 변경하기도 합니다.
    24
    00:01:54,144 --> 00:01:57,051
    A faster tempo can feel like you are going faster,
    박자가 빠르면 더 빨리 가고 있다고 느낄 수 있습니다만,
    25
    00:01:57,419 --> 00:01:59,510
    but sometimes that is not the case.
    항상 그러한 것은 아닙니다.
    26
    00:02:00,292 --> 00:02:06,468
    If you are pulling and kicking correctly with a lot of strength, then it is convenient to glide a little longer.
    힘이 충만해서 팔 젓기와 차기를 정확하게 하고 있다면, 활강을 좀 더 길게 하는 것이 적당합니다.
    27
    00:02:07,524 --> 00:02:11,117
    If you are getting tired and your pull and kick weakens
    지쳐서 팔 젓기와 차기가 약하다면,
    28
    00:02:11,574 --> 00:02:15,295
    maybe it is a good idea to shorten the glide and increase your tempo.
    활강을 짧게 하여 박자를 빠르게 하는 것이 좋은 생각일 수도 있습니다.
    29
    00:02:16,543 --> 00:02:21,281
    We will talk about different racing strategies and good practices on future videos.
    여러 가지 경기 전략과 훈련 방법에 대해서는 나중에 다루겠습니다.

    평영 기법. 3부. 활강(gliding)
    Breaststroke swimming technique. Part 3. The glide
    Skills NT
    게시일: 2016. 12. 2.
    We went over how to pull and kick in breaststroke. However, you could learn how to do both perfectly and you would still be missing a big part of what makes the good breaststrokers fast!
    평영에서 팔 젓는 법과 차는 법에 대해 살펴보았습니다. 하지만, 두 가지 모두 완벽하게 하는 법을 배웠다 할지라도 평영을 빠르게 하는 어떤 커다란 부분이 빠져 있습니다!
    The glide
    활강(gliding)
    Depending on the distance they are swimming, olympic breaststrokers can spend around half a second per stroke gliding! In a two hundred meter race, they spend around thirty seconds gliding! Needless to say it is essential to learn this skill. There are three aspects to the perfect glide.
    헤엄치는 거리에 따라, 올림픽 평영 선수들은 팔 한 번 저을 때마다 대략 0.5 초를 활강(gliding)하는 데 소비합니다. 200미터 경기라면, 대략 30초를 활강(gliding)하는 데에만 사용합니다! 말할 필요도 없이 꼭 배워야 하는 기술입니다. 완벽한 활강(gliding)을 하기 위해서는 세 가지를 고려해야 합니다.
    Position.
    자세.
    To get in the right position to glide you need to pay attention to the head and the hips. The head goes down when the arms go forward. It even goes a little bit passed the parallel line of the body to compensate and help move the hips up. The hips go up a little with the help of the kick and the core muscles.
    올바른 활강(gliding) 자세를 취하려면 머리와 엉덩이에 주의를 기울여야 합니다. 팔을 앞으로 뻗을 때 머리는 아래로 내려갑니다. 심지어, 시소 효과로 엉덩이가 올라가게 하려고 수평선을 지나 약간 더 아래까지 내려가기도 합니다. 몸중심부근육(core)의 힘과 차는 힘으로 엉덩이를 약간 올립니다.
    Core.
    코어(core, 몸중심부근육)
    It is essential to have enough core strength in breaststroke to be able to move your body from the pulling / kicking position to a perfect gliding position and back again. These muscles will give you the force and the stabilization necessary for a good stroke technique.
    평영에서, 팔을 당기고 다리로 차는 자세에서 완벽한 활강(gliding) 자세로, 또 그 반대로 움직이려면, 반드시 중심부근육(core) 힘이 충분해야 합니다.훌륭한 영법 기술을 구사하기 위해서는 이 근육들을 이용해서 힘을 내면서 안정성을 구축할 수 있어야 합니다.
    Tempo.
    박자.
    The final question to talk about remains: how long should the glide be kept before starting to pull again? Well, I am afraid there is no straightforward answer to this, because there are many things to consider like:
    1- The distance being swam.
    2- The strength of the swimmer.
    3- The height of the swimmer
    Many swimmers even change their tempo considerably within the same event. A faster tempo can feel like you are going faster, but sometimes that is not the case. If you are getting tired and your pull and kick weakens maybe it is a good idea to shorten the glide and increase your tempo.
    마지막 질문이 남아 있네요: 다음 팔 젓기를 하기 전에 얼마나 오래 활강(gliding)을 유지해야 하는가? 아쉽지만 그 질문에는 쉽게 답변드리기 힘듭니다, 왜냐하면, 다음과 같은 여러 가지 사항들을 고려해야 하니까요:
    1- 헤엄쳐야 할 거리.
    2- 선수의 힘.

    These tips and techniques will work best to help you improve dramatically your stroke if you do two things:
    1- Focus on one thing at a time
    2- Practice until you dominate that thing and move to the next.
    당신의 영법을 극적으로 향상시키는 데에, 이 비결과 기법들이 가장 효과적으로 적용되게 하려면, 다음 두 가지를 실천하십시요:
    1 - 한 번에 한 가지에만 집중하십시요.
    2 - 그 한가지를 완벽하게 할 수 있을 때까지 연습하십시요. 그런 후에야 다음 단계로 넘어가십시요.
    I will also do another series of videos for the other strokes, including starts and turns. There will also be drills and other fun stuff, so make sure to subscribe!
    발사와 벽돌기를 포함한 다른 영법들에 대한 비디오 연재물도 만들려고 합니다. 또한 부분훈련들과 재미있게 즐길 수 있는 것들도 포함하겠습니다. 그러니 잊지 말고 구독 버튼을 눌러주세요!
    I swam for 15 years in the competitive arena and I hope I can transmit my knowledge as clearly and simple as youtube allows me to. I plan on doing a couple of these to spread the knowledge I have acquired on swimming. I will do collaborations with people with even more knowledge and experience to do more advanced type videos.
    저는 경영 무대에서 15년을 수영해왔습니다. 유튜브가 허락하는 한 명료하고 투명하게, 제 지식을 전달할 수 있기를 바랍니다. 수영에 관하여 제가 습득한 지식을 퍼뜨리기 위해 몇가지를 계획하고 있습니다. 조금 더 나은 형태의 비디오를 제작하기 위해, 지식과 경험이 더 풍부한 사람들과 협력하겠습니다.
    Finally, what I am really passionate about is learning new skills. So the point of this channel is to spread the intrinsic joy that all humans share when we learn something new, doesn't matter how insignificant it might appear. I believe improvement makes us feel more alive and thus, if done right, make a better world.
    마지막으로, 제가 정말 열정을 갖고 있는 것은 새로운 기술을 배우는 것입니다. 그러므로 이 채널의 목적은, 그것이 비록 하찮은 것처럼 보일지라도, 새로운 것을 배울 때 모든 사람이 공통적으로 느끼는, 본질적인 기쁨을 퍼뜨리는 것입니다. 저는, 우리가 발전함으로써 살아있음을 좀 더 잘 느낄 수 있게 되고, 그럼으로써, 올바르게 행해진다면, 더 나은 세상을 만드는데 유용하다고, 믿습니다.
    So if you enjoy learning new things, swimming, dancing, drawing and other skills this channel is for you! So make sure to subscribe, watch, learn, practice and enjoy!
    그러므로, 당신이 수영, 춤, 그림, 그리 다른 것들에 관해 새로운 것 배우기를 즐겨한다면, 이 채널은 바로 당신을 위한 것입니다! 그러므로 반드시 구독 버튼을 누르셔서, 보고, 배우고, 연습하고, 즐기시기 바랍니다!

    Hi, in breaststroke my bottom keeps coming up on the water and the kick remains on the surface, losing strength. What excercises are good to prevent this?

      +Cristina Calore try swimming with your head out of the water at all times. That should bring your hips down. Practice and see how that feels.
